Correction: Noem Spent Down Federal PAC Cash to Support 18 SD Legislative Candidates

With great regret, I come before you duly chastised by the SDGOP spin blog for not reading enough campaign finance reports.

Yesterday I noted that Governor Kristi Noem had shared not one thin dime of her huge 2020 state campaign finance war chest with any of her South Dakota Republican colleagues. But I looked only at Noem’s reports to the South Dakota Secretary of State for her South Dakota campaign committee.

Alas, I didn’t turn to the Federal Election Commission’s database of federal campaign committees, which shows that Noem used her lingering federal PAC to give $1,000 to each of eighteen South Dakota Republican candidates for Legislature, plus $5,000 to Mike Rounds and $5,000 to Dusty Johnson:

Kristi Noem is thus not the self-destructively self-absorbed miser that I portrayed  her to be in my post yesterday. I regret my misportrayal of our virtuously party-spirited and other-oriented Governor and humbly submit the above as correction and proof of her willingness to invest her fortunes in the continued success of her fellow Republicans.

That’s OK, Cory. We all know how much more truth in newsworthy info you put out in an hour than that other website sewer puts out in 24. It’s not word=salad you produce, good thought-provoking subjects.
    Thank You.

The Noem Derangement Syndrome is strong within you, young Mr. H. Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to libbie hate.

  3. Owen

At least you admit when you make a mistake. When was the last time Republicans did that?

  4. Spike

You named it well Grunge. Noem is certainly deranged., as are the people that support her. Its not fear, its reality. If libbie hate is not accepting Noem’s rhetoric about her open government(LOL), her great Covid response, her winning campaigns for prez and Georgia senate(LOL) , being bewildered about the crazy people elected to the SD state legislature(particularly from Pennington county area, home of the Conservatives for common sense) count me in.

Is there some benefit to reading grudznick’s childish insults in the comments? I usually skim past whenever I see his pseudonym, but a Hide function would be welcome. That would make it easier to focus on comments from adults who have something to contribute.

Nice story in the Washington Post on the governor this morning. You see Cory the press is never going to let her forget how stupid her thinking is and the bragging that she does.

So….was that crow roasted or fried?

Grudz-amazing to any of Cory’s readers that you would bring up ‘fear’! You, of strong GOP bent, are of the most fearful, restrictive, hating party in memory! Your bunch of angry, white, ‘no change’, envious vocalizers of some cry of “FREEDOM” without any sense of responsibility pertaining to the word gave us trumpestan thought. And a siege on our capital

Love is but a song we sing
    Fear’s the way we die

Magats push/preach fear every election cycle to keep their chicken littles afraid of Rooster’s comb, aka Liberals. Thanks to the Youngbloods for song lyrics.

Noem was the first one to welcome the national press early this summer when she followed her boy Trump with her anti mask stance and Rushmore gala. She coaxed “The Lew” and Ian Fury to Pierre to talk for her and coach her when the press first paid attention to her. Then the TV studio in the basement for Fox interviews boosted her ego and ratings.

After basking in the limelight on Fox news, she whined to high heaven like a South Dakota coyote when she got some negative press about Covid rates here at home, while she so glamorously jet-setted around the country building her campaign chest and talking up a losing campign for her boy T—-.

Kristy, when will you learn you just can’t have it both ways, girl!

Success for Republicans? Suppress the vote, suppress DC and Puerto Rico statehood, keep everyone down to the 1950s standards.

Success for the Democrats? I don’t see anything on the SDDP web page.

Without a Vision, the SD Democratic Party is perishing.

We the people need to latch onto a
Party that unashamedly wants 70% of all legislative seats, and a Governor who works for all people.

Bipartisanship? What for? Republican Party voters invaded the US Capitol. Can’t bipartisanship with Insurrectionists. The only worthwhile unity is with the People.

Thanks for the correction. It actually makes it look worse for her to be seeding Republican legislative candidates. Clearly, a lot of these ciphers couldn’t win on their own. When you have bought and paid for the people who are supposed to hold you in check, it corrupts the separation of powers, doesn’t it?

Can we bitcoinize the SD Democratic Party?

If not, let’s bitcoinize the Green Party! Prosper everyone here!

A little grudznisms on DFP is like a little hot salsa on your scrambled eggs. His comments are generally pithy and frequently funny in an original way. Kudos to Cory for not nixing the grudz which would be how pity Pat handles dissidents on the DWC. Democrats in South Dakota need to keep their energies zeroed in on COVID Kristi the freeloader and John Thune, Putin’s useful idiot. A touch of grudz is good for sharpening the sights.

I’ll admit, I find Grudz’s comments entertaining some times, other times I find myself not understanding them. I’m simple like that. :) I think it’s important to have opposing viewpoints here, as long as they’re not personal attacks.

Whatever happened to Old Sarge? I was gone for awhile…

  17. grudznick

Thanks, fellows. I, too, am often amused how a couple dozen words can get so many goats. It was probably the Star Trek reference that stirred some people up. I never did understand those movies.

  18. SD20, the South Dakota Democratic Party needs vision and real money, not Bitcoin.

Of course, Kristi Noem shows that lots of money makes up for a complete lack of vision. Maybe the Democratic Party just needs 20 million dollars.

  19. CraigSk

The first on that list was Wiese. Do you think Noem reminded her of the contribution to get her to withdrawn her support for that transparency bill with security spending? Just thinking out loud.

  20. Grudz, it is not derangement to attempt to document how Noem spends her political cash, trace the influence she’s trying to buy(that has been bought by her donors), and figure out how that affects our politics.

It’s also perfectly sane and useful to note that Noem is making another trip to Texas to get another couple sackfuls of cash from her out-of-state admirers on February 26, right at the height of the Legislative Session, when we’d usually expect a Governor to stick around and keep an eye on the bills working their way through the Capitol.

  21. grudznick

I am disturbed she would leave during the sessions, letting her minions to puppet the legislatures like they do without her oversight. This could lead to Mr. Nesiba and Ms. Taffy pulling one over on the government. This could be good for you, Mr. H, and perhaps you should time a visit to the legislatures at this time to really tip that boat onto its side.

As it is known with the political payments under the cover of campaign contributions, “brought and paid for”. The time to call in markers in SD is January to April annually. We give to our favorite candidate or party just to give away our cash… yea right. When the GOP initially viewed South Dakota it was as a conservative small government state. But times are a changing as coined by Bob Dylan back in the day. Today the lopsided representation in Pierre and Washington has been drifting from our fundamental roots and values; slowly. Rounds trying to negotiate with the president on ditching campaign promises within a month after taking office; huh! Johnson trying to give the blacks in DC a state to call home; who in SD asked him to do that? Thune wondering aimlessly as his party implodes and he got put on the RINO list; oh oh. Noem still campaigning for Trump… if she would read any SD newspaper she would learn it’s over… but hey when you are the darling of FOX and racking in cash; so what. The bills introduced in Pierre are head scratchers; “when will they ever learn” is another lyric that comes to mind. In November 2022 we can all be singing “times are a changing”.

Grudzilla is a POS and harassed some of our best commenters on here like Debbie to the point where she won’t come back. He deserves no compliments. He is not funny, just an arrogant bully.

  24. Sion G. Hanson

I agree with Jenny. I seldom comment, but am a regular follower of DFP. Grudz is like a pesky fly. This site could easily do without him.

  25. Steve H, I made an error in not reading beyond the state campaign finance reports. I have corrected that error. Strange that you should spend more time thinking about me than about our Governor’s campaign finances and what her fundraising and spending habits mean for the governance of this state.

  26. Grudz, I’m strongly disinclined to visit any place filled with people who don’t take proper pandemic precautions.
