Weis, Greenfield Stick with Insurrectionist Lies and Call to Overturn Election

In ongoing enabling of insurrection, we have District 2 Representatives Kaleb Weis (R-Aberdeen) and Lana Greenfield (R-Doland), who take to the paper after Wednesday’s Capitol assault to defend their call for overturning the Presidential election by spewing more dangerous falsehoods.

Rep. Weis emits his usual indefensible density:

“There are too many suspicious things that have happened for me to just go, ‘Huh, Biden won fairly,'” [Weis] said. “I simply want a full investigation [Dan Crisler, “Local Lawmaker Denies Signing Letter Disputing Election Results {paywall},” Aberdeen American News, 2021.01.08].

“Too many suspicious things,” Kaleb? On what evidence do you base that—no, never mind, I know you have no evidence. I know you won’t listen to my statement of that fact, so here, listen to Senator John Thune who says, “the results of this election are now clear“:

While there were irregularities in this election, as there are in every election, fraud sufficient to overturn an election has to be based on clear and overwhelming evidence. To date, more than 60 legal cases regarding the 2020 election have been brought before courts in six states. All but one of those cases have been unsuccessful, many in courts where the judge or judges who ruled against them had been nominated by President Trump and confirmed by the Republican-controlled Senate. Furthermore, President Trump’s own attorney general, Bill Barr, concluded that there was not widespread fraud sufficient to change the outcome of the election.

While this election may not have turned out the way many of us wanted, it is time for it to be over. Every state, including South Dakota, has certified its vote in the presidential election, some after multiple recounts and audits. Republican-led state legislatures in many of the swing states like Georgia, Arizona and Pennsylvania have held hearings and investigated alleged irregularities, but have ultimately not acted to de-certify the election outcomes in their states [Senator John Thune, “The American People Have Spoken,” Aberdeen American News, 2021.01.09].

What are you gonna do, Kaleb? Call Senator Thune “suspicious”, too?

Rep. Greenfield also continues to spout the malarkey that makes knuckleheads think its o.k. to physically attack Congress and kill cops:

“It doesn’t matter which side of the aisle it’s on. If you think something is wrong, you should investigate it,” she said. “I saw the massive crowds the President had at his campaign rallies. I just decided it was worth an investigation” [Crisler, 2021.01.08].

Lana, you saw massive crowds? O.K., what does that prove? How does the number of people gathered at any airport tarmac in October invalidate any ballots counted by any local or state officials anywhere in the country? If I host a wienie roast and 100 people attend while Al Novstrup never holds any public events, but Al beats me in an election, do I get to call for an investigation and overturning of the vote?

So in addition to Lana’s shamlessly lying drunk son, District 2 gets to be represented by two illogical Trumpublicans who choose baseless lies over the hard facts of Wednesday’s insurrection… an insurrection their own Trumpism caused. How throughly shameful for District 2.

    Lana,
    EB-5, Gear-Up? Those things.

    Kaleb
Your recent election should be investigated too, then.

  2. JB

These are politicians who are fueling the insurrection and act of war against our democracy and the Constitution of the United States of America. This is treason.

  3. jerry

Chubby Proud Boys that hate women and democracy. Their districts must be proud boys as well. Nothing to see or hear from them but more white whining and momma issues.

Well said, Cory. I would add that simply because of dishonest and mendacious corrupt Republican gerrymandering, legislators like Brock and Lana Greenfield, who have more in common with Watertown and area than Aberdeen and Brown County, are so sadly representing parts of Brown County.

  5. DC

How do we get these people exposed, We need letters to editor in the local papers! Disgusting, I guess being drunk and exposed didn’t hurt little boy Green field, yet!!!

  6. Kurt

Both of these two represent me in the legislature. Well, I’m in there district. I sent both of them an email, when the letter was first made public, asking to provide me with the evidence they used to make their decision. Crickets……………..

  7. ds

dtrump roger stone, and michael flynn all incited the sheep to march over to the U.S. Capitol and riot then they slink away to their safety.
Ironically the rioters that are identified and prosecuted for a felony will not be able to vote for dtrump or any other republicans in the future.

  8. grudznick

Mr. Kurt, those two who represent you in the legislatures are weak and slovenly in the mind, and your district needs to do better.

  9. Mark Anderson

Well come on Republicans have been going down this lying road for a long time. Now with his twitterness or rather his former twitterness it has reached a peak of lying. Now who is their base? The Qs, proud boys, every fringe group imaginable, its really sad for the GOP. What can you say except hip hip hurrah! It’s about time.

  10. grudznick

It is, indeed, Mr. Anderson, the upswing for the Conservatives with Common Sense. You show uncommon wisdom for a fellow of your temperament and youth, and I, for one, look forward to the next couple years.

  11. We’ve been through a lot of these false flags, now .. we know they’re designed to cover-up something else.

    Won’t work.

    Trump won.

If Biden had won and Trump’s team stole it, I would stand by Biden.

  12. jerry

No one cares where you stand John Dale. A traitor stands on his or her own.

  13. o

John, go ahead and stand on your flat-earth; the rest of the nation needs to remain in the real world. The good news for you is that you have company and they think just like you.

What will you do until GEOTUS can get back on twitter and feed you facts again?

  14. jerry

Looks like the fascist may only be able to use We Chat for their platform of anti American blather. So they better brush up on their Mandarin.

  15. Maybe the results here in SD should be challenged. No sane group of voters could possibly cast that many votes for a lying, authoritarian racist. Could they ??

  16. T

So the only thing lately these people want to challenge is the election and marijuana ruling. Both legally voted in by the people. Wtf

  17. T

It also blows my mind that how many courts and the Supreme Court ruled no collusion, yet w and g are suspicious because of “crowd” size. Facts people, stick to the facts, quit using fb junk as your defense. It’s like going to fb for medical advice, don’t do it. Crowd size is your evidence? Look at the actual votes.

  18. DC, we expose them by spreading the word. Send this post to all your friends in District 2, and to donors anywhere who might help invest in unseating them in 2022.

I’d say crowd the crackerbarrels, but that’s still a bad idea amidst the pandemic… and Lana and Kaleb will pack those crackerbarrels with their own reckless, maskless supporters, so it’s doubly dangerous to attend crackerbarrels this year.

  19. Richard Schriever

So, athletic contest winners should be determined by crowd size too? The NFL’s champion team should be the one that craws the biggest crowds (has the biggest stadium)? Never mind the scoreboard. That’s “fake news”.

  20. Jake

Richard S, exactly to the point! To go a little further into our USA society in its sports addiction-what if the crowd stormed the black and white shirted referees when they didn’t like a call favoring the other team? The past week’s riot shows us our nation’s soul, and it ain’t pretty is it.
Grudz, I certainly agree with your above agreement with Kurt. Now, if only more of your persuasion would take some blinders off and take these ‘wanna-be’ policymakers to task when they are way off course our state could progress forward with the rest of the nation.

  21. Anne

Sixty-two percent of South Dakota voters cast their ballots for Trump. They were overruled by voters in other states who recognized that Trump had poisoned the minds of many with lies and fraud, as his former chief of staff Gen. John Kelly put it. Trump’s poison has so infected the minds of Weis and Greenfield and others that they cannot handle factual information, nor are they interested in doing so. Trump’s own election security administrator got fired for countering Trump’s big lie that the election was fraudulent with the information that it was, in fact, the most secure election in history. As even Thune is forced to point out, more than 60 court cases contesting the election have been thrown out because the plaintiffs could not come up with evidence in support of their complaint. And neither can Weis or Greenfield. They can only regurgitate Trump’s poison.

With people like them and Kristi Noem running the state government, how can anyone trust the government that is supposed to serve them when it can only serve Trump’s poison?

  22. Jake

    Well said, Anne!

  23. Great note about the PGA, Jerry! We should apply a similar boycott here in South Dakota to any legislator who expresses support for the insurrectionist lies of the traitor Donald Trump. We should identify whatever businesses Kaleb and Lana and the other signers of Elizabeth Mays letter are associated with, and we should decline to do business with those businesses Until those legislators renounce their position or until those businesses cut their ties with those insurrectionists.

  24. mike from iowa

Richard, if no crowds are allowed at sporting events, determining the winner needs to go to second or third tie breaker. Don’t trust the referees if they can use replay and still gert calls wrong.

  25. Francis Schaffer

Sounds like Lana Greenfield would be the type who would make the point; ‘No one ever talks about how many gallons of oil didn’t leak out of the Exxon Valdez, do they’.

  26. jerry

Stop the Steal Weis and Ma Greenfield, you know, Amendment A. Maybe a boycott of the business that Weis works at might get his attention. Looks like there are quite a few heating and air conditioning places in Aberdeen, shop around but stay clear of haters, he means you harm,

  27. T

Perhaps this is operation “keep em busy”
Meaning if we keep busy with all the distractions that lead to no where, keeps the people from demanding what really should happen with our own attorney general and the pedestrian he hit and ran
