July 4 Brings Only 28% as Many Customers to Restaurants as Last Year

Booking.com’s Open Table offers statistics on the restaurant industry in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Germany. Open Table reports that, after an April in which their global data set showed restaurants serving less than 1% of the customers they had on the same days in 2019, restaurant customers were “up” to 17% of prior-year business on May 31. Germany appears to have enjoyed the best June, with six days on which German restaurants reported more customers than on the same days the previous year.

In the United States, restaurant customers bounced back from 17% of prior year on May 31 to a top dine-out turnout of 59% on June 21. But then much of the country realized what a bad idea reopening was. U.S. restaurants slid back to 40% or less compared to last year’s traffic for most of the last week of June. On July 4, Open Table reports U.S. restaurant customers were down to 27% of last year’s holiday crowd, about the same as the average customer percentage for the global average.

Does anyone know if PPP loan money is still available. I have a friend that needs credit with her small business. I am afraid she might go out of business unless she gets help asap.

Bad news Jason. Grover Norquist’s Ayn Rand Institute got up to $1 million. That was part of the news Grifting Goober was trying to keep secret.
