Military Families Lose Funding for Schools and Daycare to Trump’s Wall

In another failure to support the troops, Donald Trump is pulling money from schools and daycare centers for military families and other useful military projects to prop up his politically motivated but practically useless border wall:

Schools for the children of U.S. military members from Kentucky to Germany to Japan will be affected. A daycare center at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland – the home of Air Force One – will also have its funds diverted, the Pentagon said.

…Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said the Trump administration’s reallocation of funds was a “slap in the face” to members of the U.S. military. The U.S. Military Academy at West Point in Schumer’s state is the most expensive project impacted in the United States with $95 million pulled from construction on its engineering center.

The list of affected projects also includes roads, maintenance shops, equipment storage buildings and hazardous material warehouses [“Pentagon Pulls Funds for Military Schools, Daycare to Pay for Trump’s Border Wall,” Reuters via CNBC, 2019.09.04].

Once again, service to country is less important than service to Il Duce and his reckless, raging vanity.

Today in Afghanistan, another American soldier and a Romanian NATO soldier were killed. This death marks the 4th American trooper killed in action in the last two weeks. We should all grieve their tragic loss and actually send hopes and prayers to their families.

While in all of that, trump and his republican allies steal money from them that was designated for their families, the same families that have been traumatized by this unending war. Clearly, what does that say about us? I say this, there really must be a special place in hell for the lot of those crooked stealing lying liars. Start with the three we have, huckleberry’s Thune, Rounds and Dirty and keep on going.

2020 can’t come fast enough. I’ve never wanted to cast a vote so much as the one I’m going to cast to put a rational person in as President after 4 years of chaos, catastrophe and carnage. Let’s hope the Senate turns, too, and the Democrats have enough sense to get rid of the filibuster. Then we can reverse this stuff on get on with re-building the country.

Promise broken: Mexico isn’t paying for this border wall. US taxpayers will be funding whatever parts of are built. If he follows his usual approach, he’ll fail to pay the contractors, and re-direct the funds to his Ireland golf course.

The legislative and judicial branches that should be checking this abuse of executive power will not (in fact, will promote it) because the separation of powers no longer focuses on balance between branches but instead now means “our tribe has the power” and “your tribe is separated from it.”

When farmers were told that they needed to suffer for results to happen in the trade war, they were reminded that their suffering and sacrifice were not like those made by our military. Now that the suffering and sacrifice made by the military are being accentuated to further President Trump’s political agenda, who will President Trump point to to say now to say that this is not as bad as . . . ?

  4. jerry 2019-09-05 12:15

Excellent points, I guess now Chubby trumpy will now say it’s not as bad as the Mexicans have it, so there. What a complete turd this conman is.

Meanwhile, China still controls our stock market as we have given up on our own destiny to that of theirs. Full circle, the Founding Fathers be damned. We steal and waste money on a wall that ironically, China tried and failed with centuries ago. Long after our empire has grown over with weird Monsanto devouring weeds, tourists will come there to see how damn dumb it was to think it could possibly work.

    From 538’s Significant Digits newsletter:

It’s safe to say that President Trump’s original plan to fund a border wall — get Mexico to pay for it — is on hold indefinitely. Enter the U.S. military to help out. The Pentagon is diverting $3.6 billion meant for other military construction projects to build part of the barrier. The change will halt approximately 127 military projects in order to construct 175 miles of border fencing. Trump’s proposed wall is roughly 1,000 miles so … we’ve got a long road ahead. It’s easy to see why Economic Eunuch* went bankrupt so many times. His financial incompetence is stunning. He doesn’t just mismanage budgetary issues, he totally shreds all manner of monetary sense. Barron would do a better job. He’s just pathetic.

*Okay Dale, I thought a little observation on your part would make my meaning of “Economic Eunuch” plain by now, but you’re so fixated on literal testicles, that’s apparently all your mind can handle. So here–

The term eunuch is often used to refer to a lack of something other than body parts. I call him an “economic” eunuch because he lacks even an inkling of basic financial knowledge or sense.

This particular name for him has never been about his repulsive body, but your obsession with his testicles has been very revealing about you. Notice none of the gentlemen here have had any personal reaction to Economic Eunuch, but yours has been visceral. You’ve needed to use imagery to visualize a bizarrely misshapen male.

You, John Dale, have taken my monetary insult, run with it, and revealed much more about yourself and your insecurities than any of us probably ever wanted to know.

Now, please feel free to tell me how I’m all wrong, completely misunderstood you, declare yourself the victor and whatever else makes you feel more masculine.

“He’s deteriorating in plain sight,” one Republican strategist who is in frequent contact with the White House told Insider on Friday.

They’re JUST NOW recognizing this? I’m incredulous! I’ve seen this sudden GOP awareness in several places and I can’t conceive of what took them so long.

Lying Lunatic was insane when he came down that ugly escalator, and getting worse every day. But as long as Moscow Mitch/Massacre Mitch was getting his way, all else was irrelevant.

I believe the GOP will pay for being traitors next year.

Mike, I saw the same story in National Memo.

Absolutely impeachment REQUIRING. A foreign government is not soliciting him. Traitorous Tramp is soliciting them! Can’t get any worse, other than giving his boyfriend Pootie the keys.

Meanwhile China is investing 400 billion and 5,000 troopers into Iran for infrastructure and just to poke Chubby and Netanyoo in the eyeballs. Remember old Chubby talking about infrastructure? The same empty crap that Clinton lied about. We’re broke as a joke man and have to steal from the military to keep the corruption going.

So what do 5,000 Chinese troopers and 400 billion have to do with the American military? Everything, bring them all home and cut defense spending by 90%. What are we afraid of? Everyone is pretty much doing as they want and that should be good. No more being the policeman of the world. Give old Chubby a booby prize and lets move on to our GIG economy, which is basically the same as China’s.

Those military families might have more $ if not for the Grandiose Grifter. Per Vox:

“The House Oversight Committee is investigating military spending at an airport near a Trump property in Ayer, Scotland, as well as visits to that property by service members, in the latest of a growing number of inquiries into government expenditures that seem to financially benefit President Donald Trump and his businesses.

“The military has spent $11 million on fuel alone at the Prestwick Airport near Trump’s Turnberry resort since fall of 2017, Politico reported. And reporting by the Guardian found the airport has provided discounted rooms and complimentary rounds of golf at the Trump resort for some US military members. The expenditures are unusual given buying fuel from Prestwick Airport costs the government (and, ultimately, taxpayers) more than refueling at military bases, such as the nearby Lakenheath Air Base in England.”

So far the Pentagon has refused to turn over records of expenditures. No doubt on Grandiose Grifter’s orders. Still, this is one of the few investigations going on. I guess the House decided, even with Moscow Mitch’s treachery in the way, they’d go for it because it’s necessary. Good for the Democrats. At least the US has one patriotic political party.

Ms. Debbo, that’s the tip of the iceberg regarding corruption at the highest levels. When an empire is collapsing, this is what you get. You get titles for sale and positions of power, to the highest bidder. Get used to it until he finally goes off his flippin rocker. You get that recognition by foes when they offer weapons systems out of pity, just to help balance the power. The only ones who are winning in this lame horse race are those that we have nothing in common with…other than being human.
