Novstrup Declares “Free Speech on Campus” Movement Bunk, Declares Self Passive and Dismissive of Opposing Views

In his opening remarks to the final 2019 Aberdeen crackerbarrel yesterday, Senator Al Novstrup vaguely explained that the conservative campaign to muzzle liberals with their fake “free speech on campus” propaganda is a bunch of hot air that doesn’t apply to South Dakota.

Senator Novstrup demonstrated his lazy approach to legislating by noting that he didn’t “go to the Session with a particular plan” and just drifts along, waiting to “just kinda fall into” whatever comes up. Ah, sweet passivity—code for, waiting for leadership to tell him what to do.

And in his persistent obsession with affirming his own moral and intellectual superiority, Senator Novstrup also confirmed that when he says something is “interesting,” he’s not really interested; he’s just superciliously dismissing the topic as rubbish. But notice Novstrup’s repeated resort to passivity: he says the right way to respond to disagreement is not to offer one’s own superior evidence and reasoning but just to let opponents talk, assuming that, since they are obviously wrong for disagreeing with Al, everything they say will only prove their wrongness.

But don’t interrupt Senator Novstrup. Just let him talk. He’s very interesting.

Don Pay labeled him a “cipher”. Jeremiah (grudznick) Murphy really likes him. Of course, Murphy likes anyone who votes the way grudz tells him to vote. Murphy gets paid to tell lazy legislators what to do and apparently Novstrup is sufficiently lazy and quite open to suggestion by lobbyists.

Maybe it is time that the Democrats run a candidate that can beat Al Novstrup instead of running a candidate that will never win. Sorry to say that Cory but it is true.

Greg Deplorable fails the civics test. Greggy … Democrats don’t run candidates. That would be Communism. Candidates run on their own. (mic drop)

I must be into SD politics too much, Cory. You will never believe what I dreamed laste night. I dreamed that you and Al got into a verbal shouting match at the debate. Al lost his temper first and swore at you and the audience was horrified!

Cory runs a well thought out, constitutional acceptable, equal rights for all, sensible campaign in the middle of America’s heartland. Other than white separatist, Nazi loving, immigrant hating, Muslim bashing, fear mongering racists, who wouldn’t love him?

I forgot those that get their wingnut talking points daily from Fake Noize.

You know we’re often wondering why people vote for someone like Nosetrap who serves the Kochs, rather than his constituents. We wonder why they don’t vote for a candidate like Cory, who’s on their side. We wonder why they stick with Frantic Flaccid Fool, even when he destroys the farm economy and makes a sham of Christianity. We’re not the only ones who wonder, of course.

Jonathan M. Metzel, “a physician and psychiatrist reared in the Midwest, Metzl has science and Heartland street cred on his side; as a public health instructor at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine,” is one of the wonderers and he’s written a book about this.

“Dying of Whiteness” is newly published and well-researched.

“His thesis: Conservative whites who hate taxes, gun control and government programs such as the Affordable Care Act are guzzling an elixir that Republicans say will Make America Great Again. But instead of restoring a mostly white (and largely imaginary) era free of rap music and Spanglish, Metzl writes, the toxic brew is shaving years from those voters’ lives, damaging their health in measurable ways. ”

Dr. Metzel references Missouri easing gun rights after Ferguson with a resulting dramatic spike in white male gun suicides.

Kansas’ budget decimation resulting in economic decimation and a trashed school system.

Tennessee rejecting Obamacare caused mortality rates to climb among poor whites.

Why? Read the subheading: “How the Politics of Racial Resentment Is Killing America’s Heartland.” Al Nosetrap’s kind of people, Koch’s kind of people. And they’re slowly but surely suiciding.

That’s sad, Debbo. Another great reason for the Ex-patriots to be concerned about SD. “Shut up, grudz. I’m trying to save your life, rooster boy!”

Greg, I wholeheartedly support finding a candidate who can beat Al Novstrup and provide District 3 with less racist, less ignorant, less self-serving, and more honest and intelligent leadership.

Maybe Greg needs to ask hisself why he would support the antithesis of Cory as a candidate. What part(s) of Novstrup’s character is so attractive to you and others? Novstrup has already admitted he sits around waiting for something to happen before he can form an opinion. Leadership? Not even among weasels.

MFI, I surely do not support Al and never said that I supported Al. It makes no sense to run a candidate that cannot win in a race against Big Al. I am not saying anything bad about Cory but if he can’t beat Al we will have the worst legislator for another term after this one.

Mr. Novstrup, the elder, is not handicapped by a gaggle of out-of-state name-callers besmirching his reputation on the internets. Mr. Novstrup is respectful, and wins in the haircut contests.

  12. mike from iowa 2019-03-04 19:18

Cory can’t beat Novstrup without voters getting behind him. I wonder what it is about voters that choose the worst candidate to vote for. What are they afraid of? What is so scary about equality and treating all people the same that scares whitey wingnut voters so bad? You’d think people would like new ideas and energetic legislators not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get to work. Isn’t hard working people a plus? I’m betting it isn’t just South Dakota voters who vote against their best interests. Maybe zombie deer disease has infected wingnut brains.

Mr. Novstrup, the elder, is a lot like Jeremiah (grudznick) Murphy. If you keep your eye on them long enough, the truth will come out. Two hidden personalities who bond with secrecy.

  14. grudznick 2019-03-04 19:30

All your goats are belong to grudznick, Mr. Lansing, as you OOSNC have aptly demonstrated how you sabotage Mr. H’s campaignings with this single blogging alone. Novstrup laughing. Novstrup, the elder, lauging.

  15. Porter Lansing 2019-03-04 19:42

Got your goat, didn’t I ‘Miah? You take the bait a lot quicker than before I exposed you.

  16. grudznick 2019-03-04 19:47

Mr. Lansing, are you taking “credit” for my old buddy Lar’s speculations? Shame. Shame. Lar will have the shame nun march you down the street and you can indulge your preoccupation with exposure.

So … you now admit that you’re really Jeremiah the Bald? That’s worth all your goats. Mr. Lansing is tricky, tricky , tricky. Murphy is slowed from the booze.

I’m going away for Lent now, Jeremiah. Your sad soul could use some Jesus time, yourself. Remember how your Dad went to mass every day? It was to pray for you. Show some respect.

Mike, Dr. Newquist has an excellent post about why South Dakotans vote for candidates who don’t care about them and lie to them. It was published today.

Or maybe you were just exercising rhetorical frustration? I know the feeling.
