The Comprehensive Annual Finance Report for Fiscal Year 2018 reports that we spent over $119 million to cover all of our state employees’ health care needs in the past budget year:

Given the FY2018 FTE staffing level of just under 13,300, that’s $8,990 spent on health care per state employee. That’s a 3.9% increase from the previous fiscal year, higher than overall inflation, the national health care inflation rate, and the 1.9% increase in general fund expenditures.
