Heidelberger Shows Cross-Partisan Appeal

Speaking of cross-partisan appeal

Signs for Republican Carl Perry and Democrat Cory Allen Heidelberger in an Aberdeen, South Dakota, yard, 2018.11.03
Signs in an Aberdeen yard, 2018.11.03.

I’m not endorsing Carl; I cast my vote for my Democratic ticketmates Justin Roemmick and Brooks Briscoe for District 3 House and encourage the 80% of my neighbors who haven’t voted yet to do the same. But I can say that I’ve had good conversations with Carl Perry and his ticketmate, Republican incumbent Drew Dennert, and I’m confident I could work effectively with any combination of those candidates to promote South Dakota’s general welfare. The owner of the above yard seems to think so, too.

But black car? Black sign? I’m not sure I want to get in and carpool in that grim machine….

Good luck Tuesday Cory. We may disagree on many issues, however your hard work and research will make you a asset to the state legislature.

Hope you are in Pierre in January.

I, too, wish you the best of luck on Tuesday, Mr. H. I think you are a fine fellow, even though you and I disagree on many issues. Keep your chin up and stay classy. The outcome of the “haircut race” is one of interest to grudznick, Bob, Bill and my other friend Bill, and I hope nobody’s feelings are hurt very badly.

I’m with S & g on this one, Cory. I think it’s your year to win. Your opponent has been in too long. The legislature needs people like you and Reynold Nesiba who are bright, engaging and willing to solve problems with Republicans as colleagues. If Noem wins, she will need guidance from outside the choir. If Sutton wins, he’ll need your votes and abilities to develop allies across the aisle.

Thank you, gentlemen. I will keep up the good fight for the next 53 hours, then sit back and watch the counting.

96, I would relish the chance to work with an intellectual powerhouse like Senator Nesiba. I would relish the chance to help make Governor Sutton’s vetoes of silly Republican time-wasting bills stick. I would also relish the chance to offer a Governor Noem whatever guidance she would take to free herself from her lobbyist puppetmasters and govern in the interest of all South Dakotans.

Grudz—class? Who’s every accused me of having that? ;-)

Sam—thank you for your cross-partisan good wishes. I promise you what I’m promising everyone in my radio ad: I’ll work hard and tell the truth.

I knew Carl Perry in college at NSC, though I haven’t seen him since. He was a nice guy so I wish him luck, but I wish his Democratic opponent more luck. ☺️
