Video from the Chamber: Novstrup, Heidelberger, Greenfield, and Wismer in Senate Forum!

I’m uploaded and editing my own videos right now, but if you want to watch today’s Senate forum, here’s the full hour of fun as recorded by our hosts, the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce, with Senator-Elect Susan Wismer (D-1/Britton), Senate Pro-Tem Brock Greenfield (R-2/Clark), Senator Al Novstrup (R-3/Aberdeen).

To be perfectly clear, the two words I speak at 55:20 in response to Al’s sideways question were, “You were.”

The Chamber showed clear bias toward us Democrats by allowing Senator-Elect Susan Wismer to participate. Those darned Main Street liberals. If anything, the Chamber should have let Al and Brock bring in reinforcements to make it a fair fight.

I’ll break down the videos of this event and the preceding House forum for candidates from Districts 1, 2, and 3 and offer plenty of commentary later. But I’ve got a bike to ride, a dog to walk, and sun to soak in on this last sunny summer Saturday!

How do you feel it went for yourself and the other candidates?
Thanks so much for posting the videos. I’ll wait for the individual, edited version. 😊

This is useful for something? When it can’t be heard? Come on Chamber!

Oh! Bob! Check the volume button on the video, just to the right of the timer. Does that bring up the audio for you?

Way to think on your feet, Cory. Your closing was stellar. In retrospect that whole show was genuinely revealing. Brock Greenfield is the biggest bag of horse feathers I’ve listened to in a long, long time. It’s “exposing” that he credits his style to Big Al Novstrup.(eight terms?) The level of self-consumed, slapping yourself on the back for being just go along to get along, lazy legislators was excessively extravagant, immoderate and needlessly overblown. Novstrup has NO new ideas. Having relationships with others with NO new ideas is just a no progress circle of jerks. Novstrup congratulating himself (four times) for being “nice” when he’s really just “vacant” was superfluous, phony bologna, good time rock & rolly.

Porter, the term that rang in my head that I did not use to describe my Republican podium-mates’ comments was “sanctimonious horsehockey.”

Debbo, my long coaching experience taught me never to fully buy the judgment of participants and always to wait for the final ballot. I’m hoping to give others a chance to offer their assessment before I offer mine (because, contrary to Al’s frequent coded attack, I really do listen a lot other people, in addition to frequently making my policy positions public).

I will dare say that, on video, I look calmer than I thought I would.

    Entitlement …

I watched SD Republican legislators for years. There’s three kinds: the radical bomb throwers, the sanctimonious ciphers and the establishment show cattle. I sort of get the feeling Novstrup is a cross between sanctimonious cipher and establishment show cattle. The Republicans can always count on Dumb Al to do what’s right for him and his establishment minders. And that’s all they care about. And Al knows it and celebrates his genuflection.

Sorry it took me so long to get back. I tried every button I could find. (I’m the first to admit that even those of us who have spent years at technology sometimes can’t find the ‘on’ button)

I didn’t go back to it, but your reedit is fine.

Thank you for your putting yourself out there.

I still don’t have decent audio on this. And, yes, I checked the audio button in the video. FYI, using chrome on windows 10.
