Before racing off to the next big Democratic campaign event Sunday, Secretary of State candidate Alexandra Frederick found four minutes to talk to Dakota Free Press:
Interesting that Frederick mentions the historical success of women winning this office. Gladys Pyle was the first woman to win the Secretaryship in 1926, after ten men had held the office. After Pyle, fourteen more women served as South Dakota’s chief election officer until Chris Nelson beat Kate Looby in 2002. But after Nelson, Jason Gant stumbled in and gave us fellas a bad name, leading to the restoration of election matriarchy under the stylish watch of Shantel Krebs. Thus, historically, the SDSOS count is 12 guys, 16 gals. Let’s make Alexandra Frederick #17!
What she said. THAT’S what a SOS is supposed to do. That is her #1 job.
