GOP Spin Blog Cheers Bad Trumpist Shouting Down Worse Trumpist

I suspect Pat Powers called the video of Missouri Congressman Billy Long using an auction chant to drown out a protestor at a Congressional hearing yesterday the “clip of the day” because he wanted to ridicule civilly disobedient Americans who dare interrupt his party’s effort to march America backward toward right-wing extremism.

Now that I’ve actually looked into the incident and the participants, I agree with Powers that the Long-auction clip deserves some attention.

The woman was not at the Senate Judiciary hearing on Brett Kavanaugh, where South Dakota defenders of women’s rights Tiffany Campbell and Grace Bucklin were arrested for their civil disobedience. The woman in question is alt-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer. (She’s worked for professional right-wing liar James O’Keefe and fomented rumors that the recent school shootings in Texas and Florida were staged. Enough said, right?) She here interrupted the House Commerce and Energy Committee’s sham hearing on Trump’s conspiracy theory that social media is out to block conservatives to shoot a video of herself saying silly pro-Trump nonsense. Rep. Long, a Republican shouted her down:

As Twitter chief executive officer Jack Dorsey testified during Wednesday’s House Committee on Energy and Commerce hearing before Congress, alt-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer stood up to disrupt the proceedings with a plea.

“I’m asking you President Donald Trump. Please help us Mr. President, before it’s too late,” she said.

“Because Jack Dorsey is trying to influence the election, to sway the election, so that Democrats can steal the election. That is why he is censoring and shadow banning conservatives.”

Loomer has been banned from major social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook for violating the rules the rules in the past. This year, she alleged that the shootings at a high school in Santa Fe, Texas were staged [Ashley Hoffman, “This Member of Congress Shut Down a Protestor by Auctioneering,” Time, 2018.09.05].

That Rep. Long would shout down a Trump nut is remarkable. Rep. Long himself encouraged voters to “Get on the Trump train!” in 2016. He’s urging his 5,922 Twitter followers to boycott Nike for featuring Colin Kaepernick in their ads. He retweeted a TownHall.com article calling the anonymous White House official mutinying against Trump a “POS“. Rep. Long helped Republicans distract an April committee hearing from talking about Russia’s election interference to instead grill Mark Zuckerberg about ginned-up claims of Facebook bias against conservatives.

In other words, a guy who’s about as big a conservative creep as the one Donald Trump has been Bosworthing in the White House, used his big mouth to out-shout a fellow right-winger who peddles the same brand of distracting, destructive nonsense as he and his beloved Duce do.

We could wish that Rep. Long would use his skills to stand up against greater injustices than violations of parliamentary decorum. Alas, Rep. Long’s record shows that in any other setting, he will welcome and parrot the loonie talk of wingnuts like Loomer and Trump. But thanks for pointing that out, Pat!

You just can’t make this stuff up! Through the looking glass here we come. . . .

This fellow was hilarious. His voice is, no doubt, deeper and more booming than Mr. PP’s auction chant probably is, but I’m not sure.

You have some spelling problems in your blogging, Mr. H. I know you like to pick nits and chastize others for theirs, so sometimes you need to be called on yours. Mr. Kaepernick’s name is spelled wrong, I believe. He used to be a bad football player, now he’s just a whiner.

But, Mr. grudznick, a whiner with a nice deserved contract from the good folks at Nike. The court ruled in his favor to sue the fellers who colluded against him as well. When Comrade trump comes here to grift for Comrade NOem, someone should tell him that collusion is a bad thing, a very bad thing…ask the NFL.

You are mistaken Grudz. Colin (one l) Kaepernick protested silently. Silently. His silent protest sure brought out the GOP Party whiners. The GOP Party can’t handle a silent protest without everybody whining about it, which GOP Party whining brought about more players silently protesting and more GOP Partyists loudly whining. It’s a vicious cycle – this silent protesting and this loud GOP Party whining.

That said Grudz, it’s ok to whine sometimes. If a bunch of fat old white guys want to get together and have a group whine about a black guy silently protesting it’s their right as Americans.

Even though he is a bad football player and should be punished for being a rabble rouser and union plant, we should still care enough to spell his name, or Representative Noem’s name, correctly. It’s called respect. Something Mr. Trump, the Alt Left, and Iowegians seem to be lacking in abundance.

I believe I shall buy something, before the moon wanes, that has a Colin K. “swoosh” on it. I say this as I hear the sound of idiots’ heads exploding in the not-too-great distance.

You do look really good in flat-brimmed hats and pimp-bathrobes, Bob, regardless of the color.

  9. jerry 2018-09-06 23:55

Spellcheck Mr. grudznick, that would be Comrade NOem instead of whatever you put there. I cannot show any kind of respect to a Russian plant that is doing her level best to destroy healthcare for those Americans who do not have the luxury she has endowed upon herself. That is just for starters.

    Grudz—
Respect is earned. Loyalty is earned. Once earned, it is reciprocated.
Tr*mp and NOem have earned neither …….

    “Bosworthing.” That’s great, Cory, perfect.

Exactly what Buckobear said, + public figures are vulnerable to a certain level of public reaction and have no choice but to accept it. Except Pootie’s Puppet, who is truly the master of whining, crying, blaming and carrying on.

Do any of you fellows know if young Ms. Bosworth is a supporter of Mr. Trump, or is angling to get back into the politics? The politics, you know, have been not as much fun since she settled down, and with Mr. Jackley now banished I hope she starts to speak up again and make more movies.

Grudz..Crocs called and they love what you’ve done with the black knee high sock and their shoes. Stop boning those goats though. The Nike commercial was amazing.
