Cops Bust Campbell for Protest at Kavanaugh Hearing

No one who harassed Tiffany Campbell has gone to jail or suffered other legal consequences. But the Sioux Falls women’s activist got cuffed in the United States Capitol today for protesting, civilly and disobediently, the efforts of Republicans to stack the Supreme Court with conservative activists who will take away the rights of all American women:

NARAL Pro-Choice South Dakota Board Vice Chair was arrested today in civil disobedience action, along with fellow board member Grace Bucklin at the United States Supreme Court. Tiffany Campbell released the following statement:

“The nomination and potential appointment of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court puts on the line the basic rights of thousands of South Dakota women who deserve to control their own bodily autonomy,” said NARAL Pro-Choice Board Vice Chair Tiffany Campbell. “We can not stand idly by and allow the rights of women for generations to be stripped away. We know that Kavanaugh was chosen to fulfill Donald Trumps promise to overturn Roe v. Wade, and I will not be silent while these anti-choice extremist attempt to hijack the Supreme Court” [NARAL Pro-Choice South Dakota, press release, 2018.09.05].

What Campbell was saying while cops hauled her away was that had she been pregnant in the Trumpistan the Kavanaugh-Gorsuch court seems likely to ring in, South Dakota’s currently suspended abortion ban would have been in effect, and her son Brady would have died in utero.

See? Pro-choice Americans are fighting for the right to life, too.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, South Dakota’s Democratic nominee for Congress has come out with a new commercial, where he proudly claims to be pro-life. It’s obvious that the vicous cancer is everywhere, both in DC and South Dakota. It it time that South Dakota Democratic leaders protect women’s reproductive rights and trust them, and stop trying to out Republican the Republicans…

  2. SDBlue 2018-09-05 21:42

Senator Kamala Harris to Brett Kavanaugh: “Can you think of any laws that give the government the power to make decisions about the male body?”

Kavanaugh: “I’m not—I’m not think of any right now, senator.”

    Enuf said.

  3. Debbo 2018-09-05 21:49

Thank you Tiffany Campbell. I’m grateful for your courage and willingness to put yourself on the line for women and girls across the U.S. You’re my newest hero. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

It’s not the government’s purpose to make personal medical choices for an able adult citizen. Period.

Pootiepublicans salivate over an opportunity to put uppity females in their place and to placate the rabid pro fetus minority. That’s all this is really about for them.

  4. John Kennedy Claussen, Sr., 2018-09-05 21:52

Actually, there is. Men have to register for the draft, but women do not have too. This reality is upheld by a 1980 SCOTUS decision, but it is not right. As long as we have a draft on paper, then women should have to register too, but no government should be allowed to control a woman’s reproductive rights.

  5. Dana P 2018-09-05 21:55

Tiffany Campbell. Wow. good for you

  6. Debbo 2018-09-05 22:11

You’re right JKC. I agree. If there is registration, everyone should have to register.

  7. OldSarg 2018-09-05 22:40

Did you see her behavior? She was like an wild animal. Being arrested was a kind act.

  8. Lee Schoenbeck 2018-09-05 22:58

    Cory,
Is there just somewhere in this story that you see this lady is acting outside of what most people would view as appropriate? Just at least a little bit? Just curious. Therein lies the key to election results

  9. Tiffany Campbell 2018-09-05 23:25

Thanks for your post, Cory. At 7am tomorrow I will be participating in a sit in and be arrested again. We will not go back!

  10. jerry 2018-09-05 23:57

It finally looks as if people are seeing what happens when you shut the hell up and wear brown Mr. Schoenbeck. Election results are changing as the need for resistance has been kicked into high gear. How much Russian interference in Democracy can you take sir? When elections are stolen, and you have a shadow government, the only key is to replace the lock.

  11. Cory Allen Heidelberger Post author | 2018-09-06 07:09

Lee, I agree with you that disrupting a public meeting is a violation of law. I agree that the police action against Campbell was legally justified. She appears to recognize that as well; she knew she would be arrested.

Yet she did so anyway, because the actions of Senate Republicans with respect to Supreme Court nominees over the past two years have also been inappropriate, and because taking away women’s bodily autonomy is inappropriate.

  12. Darin Larson 2018-09-06 07:31

Cory, the Bjorkman ad is on TV– KELO at least.

  13. Porter Lansing 2018-09-06 07:42

…acting outside of what most people would view as appropriate? What “most” people, Mr. Schoenbeck? That question reeks of elitist, white privilege and is wholly in line with your mental model. I know. You drive an old pickup and that makes you “one of the common folk”.

  14. Donald Pay 2018-09-06 08:08

Yup, Porter. Trump uses the “most people” phrase all the time. It’s the sickening elitism of a Manhattan bully, and South Dakota Republicans. Or it could be ignorance. I’ll let Lee decide which slot he is in.

Certainly, the Boston tea party was outside of what most people would consider appropriate. In just about every other protest in history, “most people” probably thought elements of that protest are something they considered “outside” of some idea of what is appropriate. That is the point of such protest.

  15. o 2018-09-06 08:33

The Supreme Court process focuses how rigged the system has become. The refusal of even a hearing for President Obama’s nominee by the GOP; partisan selection of judges and accompanying pretense of feigned ignorance of how perspective judges stand on issues that will be before them, the seeding of the selection to conservative mega-power brokers. Certainly the Democrats deserve to be chastised for allowing the process and the results to have become SO rotten, but now that the system has become so fully corrupted, the ONLY response has to be from outside the norms (as now defined).

Legislation from the court is omnipotent — without ability to appeal or overturn. The prospects of a conservative activist court are the things of absolute despotic rule.

I suppose I am taking the long path to answer Mr. Schoenbeck’s question: yes she was inappropriate, but when appropriate has no avenue for your voice, what is left? I understand the will of the majority, but more-and-more to more-and-more it feels like the will of the elite minority calling the shots. Too be fair, I do also feel the same for the protesters who did much the same when the shoe was on the other foot (although the process seemed less corrupt then).

Does the discussion of condemnation of the protestor overshadow the discussion of the message of the protest? Should it?

  16. Dana P 2018-09-06 09:11

Well, Mr Schoenbeck, when democracy continues to be thwarted. When the GOP says they are against “overreach” , yet have no problem overreaching and governing what people do with their bodies, then, people do what they feel is needed by protesting. Even if it results in arrest.

South Dakota voters have voted several times on abortion, minimum wage, and corruption —– what happened? SD legislators overrule the will of the people. Democracy thrwarted. Founding fathers rolling in their graves.

  17. Porter Lansing 2018-09-06 10:29

O points out the pertinent question of the white male privilege critique. “Does the discussion of condemnation of the protestor overshadow the discussion of the message of the protest? Should it?
NO IT SHOULDN’T – Misdirection of the message is the tactic. Instead of discussing and apologizing for the egregious Republican suppression of Women’s Rights. Instead of discussing and apologizing for the egregious law enforcement suppression of African American male rights. Instead of discussing and apologizing for the egregious income inequality in America. Instead of admitting Republican prejudice and greed … it’s nothing but misdirection. It’s ” phony false focus” on the (wrongly accused) uncouth, female protesters in the hearings and “phony false focus” on (wrongly accused) flag-hating, black protesters in the NFL. It’s tax breaks for the super wealthy and tariffs on the farmers.
Come Clean, Opie! You’re Ridin’ Dirty!!

  18. mike from iowa 2018-09-06 11:02

Just another example of how inept wingnuts are at governing. Instead of reaching across the aisle for consensus, they force their choices on everyone else and hope no one notices.

The entire wingnut party is involved in a conspiracy to destroy Democracy in America.

  19. bearcreekbat 2018-09-06 11:37

The claim that “most people” would oppose Campbell’s protest is a fall back to an old propaganda technique exposed by none other than Rod Sterling in a Twilight Zone episode from the 1960s.

In that episode a young pro-Nazi advocate spoke to American crowds attacking various governmental programs. The crowd reacted violently and assaulted the protester for his critical speeches. Depondent, he contemplated what went wrong when a shadowy figure began to advise him.

The advice was simple – the neo-nazi had erred by failing to tell the crowd that he was speaking for all of them. He needed to convince members of the crowd that they were victims to win their support for his Nazi ideology and the only way to do that was to make the crowd into an “us” verses the supposed bad guys – “them.”

The technique worked just as the shadowy figure had said. Later in the episode when the Nazi recruiter got in trouble for murdering an innocent friend to make him a martyr – again, following the shadowy figure’s advice, the shadowy figure was ultimately revealed as Hitler.

It is remarkably relevant in today’s propanda techniques. here is a short clip from the episode titled “He’s Alive.”

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMAUld-2i48

So when someone raises a “most people” argument, it seems appropriate to consider whether he is following in the footsteps of past experts in propaganda techniques.

  20. John Kennedy Claussen, Sr., 2018-09-06 11:37

BCB … WOW!!! That’ll curl the hair on the back of your neck. It’s so absolutely pertinent. It’s so absolutely accurate. That’s how we liberals will win. We’ll win by using this tactic against the haters. Why? Because we liberals ARE THE MINORITY!!! Because love is stronger that hate. Because truth is stronger than the guy in this video. THX …..

Wow, just wow, the Democratic senators did not come to play today at the hearings for this fraudulent choice of Comrade trump. They even challenged their positions with the latest, by releasing what should be public information that was marked confidential, Democrats gave the old fart, Gassy from Iowa, a breathing problem. Maybe he can pull his head out of his arse and support the Constitution. More of this please from Ms. Campbell and the Democratic senators, our democracy depends on it.

  23. o 2018-09-06 12:21

I also think we (plural, inclusive “lobbies”) must not dismiss all pro-life rhetoric or advocates as motivated by woman hating or woman repressing as their only or even primary motivation. We have to be honest enough to acknowledge that a good many anti-abortion advocates come at this issue from a moral stance of protection of ALL life (inclusive of prenatal life).

  24. o 2018-09-06 12:22

    sorry, “libbies” not lobbies.

I got several “Friend of Chuck” emails with his latest bs on confirmation hearings and other stuff. I sent one back asking him if he was on drugs. His tenuous hold on reality has slipped considerably.

It amazes me how wingnuts totally ignore the reality of their decisions over the past year or two concerning Scotus nominees from both parties. Grassley assures me he has handled all these nominees with the same respect and due dilligence. What can one say when hit with such obvious baloney?

  26. Cory Allen Heidelberger Post author | 2018-09-06 12:41

“most people”… “people say”… that’s a common Trump tactic, too, manufacturing a fake fellow majority.

The number of people who found Martin Luther King Jr.’s and Nelson Mandela’s tactic inappropriate and the number of laws those tactics broke do not define the moral worth of their tactics or their objectives.

  27. leslie 2018-09-06 12:55

Gee, there are chickens in the whitehouse, but the brave protesters against the continued McConnell Right Wing ravaging of the entire legal system,
are the gentle people of CONSCIENCE standing outside, traveled thousands of miles, to speak truth to power, who are Arrested! And the false conniving OSs of the republican party throw dirt in the gears to hinder the great American Democratic machine as it is besieged by souless Vlad Putin. Why?

  30. OldSarg 2018-09-06 14:51

This was all preplanned and the protesters were paid to act like animals. That is not democracy. It is anarchy. The only people who support the actions of that animal or those who do not know how to act in civil society in the first place. It also explains why they do not have good jobs, win elections or run things. If a person cannot control themselves who would ever trust them to control our home? It would be better had they carried her outside, laid her on the road and sprayed her with a cold hose.

I’m surprised so many of you support her behavior when you “claim” to be democrats. . . Oh, Kavanagh will still be appointed, Trump is still president and you all still lost. Too bad about Sutton. He was a nice guy. Just hung his hat on the wrong party. . .

  31. RJ 2018-09-06 15:01

What kind of a person calls another person an animal, OS? That’s in poor taste. I believe 45 uses that term for people he doesn’t like, as well.

  32. OldSarg 2018-09-06 15:31

No RJ, when you scream and throw yourself around totally out of control, hurt others and cannot act in a civil way you have lost your humanity.

One of the definitions of animal is an inhuman person; brutish or beastlike person. Do yo understand better now?

  33. Steve Hickey 2018-09-06 15:37

You know that famous picture from the civil rights era of the black girl walking to school and the vicious white girl behind her is screaming at her??

This is the spirit behind the screamers (angry noise and hate) who don’t want the unborn to join them in life.

They are paying for screamers to disrupt the hearing. Tiffany, can you honestly tell us what you know about who is organizing this and if your bail money was given to you or if you were paid? I don’t view this as legitimate resistance. Abortion is losing on its merits scientifically and as a public policy and as any legitimate form of healthcare. So the (post abortive and in-denial) angry women scream.

  34. Porter Lansing 2018-09-06 15:46

Hickey just makes up things to bolster his anti-woman agenda. God and common sense judge him a liar and servant of false witness. Pity the soul for the brain is lost.

  35. mike from iowa 2018-09-06 15:50

Hickey, how far from America is Scotland? You could hardly be further from reality and the truth if you went back to your Mothership, where ever it is.

My best guess as to who truly want abortions are stoopid right wing pols with knocked up mistresses and still claim to be god fearing kristians.

  38. RJ 2018-09-06 17:17

Steve, since you brought up the example of a white girl, screaming at a black child..Not sure of the relevance, but do you then rebuke the racists who lynched African-American citizens in the past? Was there an out cry from you regarding the lives lost in Sandy Hook or Las Vegas? Just want to ensure that we are on the same page..That when you make blanket statements about the pro-life movement and make judgments about Tiffany, that you believe all lives matter.

  39. Porter Lansing 2018-09-06 17:20

Os … you are such an effin’ liar. Drop and don’t get back up until you can think straight.

  40. mike from iowa 2018-09-06 17:24

Schindler later added that he spoke to the protest’s organizer who confirmed that they were handing out cash which the protesters were using to pay fines they received for breaking the law.

Paid to protest? Nope. Not even close.

Here is one of the so called doctor/eye witnesses. Sounds like he knew in advance what he was going to say since he had no idea what if any money exchanged hands and what it might have been for.
DOCTOR CHRIS DUNDAS, CORPUS CHRISTI: Hey guys, I’m Dr. Chris Dundas from Corpus Christi in Texas, we’re up here for these hearings. I gotta tell you, it was very sad. This is a very time-honored institution in the past, and these young people (mostly young people, but some old people) they seem to have no heartfelt convictions about why they are here. If you have to pay somebody to protest, that’s a good tell… Being arrested and being proud of it. Some women came back from these hearings and they seemed disappointed they were not arrested…

BTW, this guy is listed as a teacher at Corpus Christi Independent School District and the other 2 doctors are involved in religious groups of some type.

    Supreme Court Hearing Day Three

Today at 8:30 a.m. CT, I’ll gavel in the third day of the hearing for Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh to be an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. You can watch the hearing live on Facebook or on the Judiciary Committee website each day and follow updates on Twitter at @SenJudiciary.

In addition, you can find information about Judge Kavanaugh and guidelines about the hearing on the committee’s website.

The Constitution established three branches of government to serve as a check on the power of each of those branches. Today we will take a big step toward filling a vacancy on the Supreme Court and ensuring those checks and balances remain strong.

    Keep in Touch

A House divided against itself, cannot stand…some Democrat said that or should have been a Democrat.

The Rev. Hickey, like most anti-choice people, look at my wife, my daughter, my sisters, my mother, my nieces, my aunts, some of my cousins, and grandmothers and somehow see merely a political state, or somehow they see Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, or Texas, but when I look at my female relatives, or any woman for that matter, I do not see a political state, rather I see a human being. I see a human being whose reproductive rights should not be limited by any political state.

Why is it, that the great conservative Senator Barry Goldwater understood the choice issue and voted against a Constitutional Amendment to ban abortion in this country back in 1983, but conservatives today, both Republican and Democratic, just do not get it or undertand what Goldwater understood?

Now out of fairness, Goldwater was wrong when he voted against the Civil Rights legislation of the 1960s and his spin on those votes, in that time, was that he was protecting states’ rights; and one could argue that Goldwater’s votes on Civil Rights and abortion are consistent if you accept Rev. Hickey’s logic, but to do that requires you to see human beings as merely political states, which they are not. Goldwater’s votes reflect rather a growing understanding for human and civil rights and how liberty at the ultimate level is invested in the human being and not the intangible political states which humans collectively create.

The “paid protest” link that OS posted at 16:58 is the same link that documents exactly what mfi posted at 17:24, which seems to suggest that OS did not read the link he posted – perhaps the headline was enough for OS to rely upon for making his representations of fact. A little more reading might have been helpful to OS in avoiding further damage to his credibility by avoiding any further mistaken factual claims. For example, one of the more important statements from the link posted by OS adds the following:

It’s nothing new for Trump supporters to make unsubstantiated claims that protesters have been paid as part of some manufactured outrage, and it is important to note that there have been no other reports that we have found so far about what happened.

  55. Debbo 2018-09-07 00:02

This is the first time today I’ve been able to get to DFP and its been an interesting day here.

I know Tiffany Campbell. She is not being paid. She was not paid to go to DC. Her fine was paid by her from her own personal funds.

IF the Pootiepublicans had done their constitutional duty and given Merrick Garland the hearing the constitution outlines . . . and IF the Pootiepublicans had released All of Cavemanaw’s papers . . . and IF the Pootiepublicans had had not released 45,000 pages of Cavemanaw’s papers mere hours prior to the hearing . . . and IF the Pootiepublicans had been respectful in allowing Democratic committee members to state their preliminary Points of Order . . . PERHAPS loud, shouting protests in hopes of getting the Pootiepublicans attention would not have seemed like the only avenue left.

Tiffany wanted to be there to protest because her right to make her own health care decisions is something she is very passionate about. Like the majority of women, Tiffany is outraged that a collection of old white men were empaneled by a few other old white men to decide for every female in the USA, plus those to come, just what our physical rights to our bodies are.

It’s plainly anti-freedom and anti-USA and especially anti-women and girls on the face of it. Shame, shame, shame on the Pootiepublicans.

  56. OldSarg 2018-09-07 06:01

I didn’t say Tiffany got paid. I don’t care if she was paid or not and that isn’t the point. The point is the democrat party has become a danger to our society. You are no longer a party. You have become exactly what I have been warning you about. You are now a mob. Look what you did in Laramie yesterday. You burned the new GOP office to the ground. You are no longer civil. You are a mob. Read this carefully and consider seriously what I am telling you: When Hitler started his take over he rallied the people to blame the Jews. Normal Germans who were also trying to find someone to blame for their plight jumped on the blame train and targeted the Jews as well. This is what the democrat party has started to morph into. You now align with the socialist, as did the Germans, you are attacking anyone you do not agree with, as did the Germans. You are disrupting civil events such as the Senate hearings and yesterday you burned down the GOP office in Laramie. I know you didn’t do many of these things personally but the people you have aligned with are doing these things so where does is stop? It doesn’t stop unless each of you personally stop.

  57. mike from iowa 2018-09-07 07:58

I’ll make you a counter offer, Mr believemeorgotoliberalhell. I will pay you a nickel if you cease and desist forever. I’d take it if I was you because you’re not very good at what yer now doing.

  58. Darin Larson 2018-09-07 08:27

OS, in case you haven’t noticed, Donald Trump is the one acting like a Nazi. Calls to ban free-speech and to put people in jail without cause, attacks on the free press, and statements that Trump is above the law and can pardon himself and his cronies are only but a few of the examples of Trump trampling on our Constitution and bringing to mind the history of the rise of the Nazi party. Who is a bigger threat to our country: a lawless protestor or the man in the White House with all the power of our military and federal government at his disposal who deems himself above the law?

  59. mike from iowa 2018-09-07 08:31

One other thing, thethree “eyewitness” doctors were in line waiting for tickets to get inside to watch the hearing when they claimed they saw protesters being paid to protest. Before the hearing? How could they have possibly known what the people got paid for or that they were even going to protest?

This whole setup stinks like rotten right wing fish.

  60. Darin Larson 2018-09-07 08:51

I applaud Tiffany Campbell for her civil disobedience protest that makes people like Lee Schoenbeck uncomfortable. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. made people uncomfortable when he was marching in Selma, Alabama in 1965. The powers that be will always be uncomfortable with the prospect of being called out.

As Debbo points out, when you view the protests in light of the refusal of the Senate Republicans to do their constitutional duty to advise and consent on the nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, the disruptions to the Kavanaugh hearing are quite mild.

  61. OldSarg 2018-09-07 09:13

Darin, Trump has not called for banning free-speech, put anyone in jail, Trump di not burn down the GOP office in Laramie, Trump did not limit your freedom of speech, Trump did not shut down the press, Trump did not spy on the press, Trump did not ban abortion, outlaw gays, pardon himself, or anyone else that did not deserve a pardon. Your ranting is just repeating the stupid fools you are mimicking like a dumb bird.

Trump has the right, just as you, to argue. And if anyone says he has done anything else then they are a freaking fool. Trump has defended this Nation, renegotiating trade treaties that have cost our nation millions of American jobs, employed more minorities in two years than Obummer did in eight and you are so stupid that you believe anything some dumb ass loser in life with a bachelors degree in journalism who can read off a teleprompter. Learn to “think” before you burn all of this down along with the GOP office your friends burned next door. I am telling y9ou again, if you do not learn to act civilly others will follow your lead until it results in someone being seriously hurt. Your party is out of control. Your party pulled Little House ion the prairie off the freaking shelves! You are not even democrats anymore you are no different than the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. Look it up.

mike stop posting. You are stupid.

  62. Darin Larson 2018-09-07 09:56

OS, your response reveals that you don’t pay any attention to what Trump says.

  63. mike from iowa 2018-09-07 10:06

OldStoopid, when I want advice from you I’ll give it to you. Yer wasting yer time, my time and everyone’s time, OldChickenLittle. The sky is not falling and there are no Dems in sheeps clothing.

You need a hobby. May I suggest chasing parked cars?

  64. Tiffany Campbell 2018-09-07 11:17

Does anyone know who I contact to get paid? My flight was $685.
    Hotel- $450+.
    Lyft rides- $35
Gas to drive to Omaha airport- $55.
    Fine for disorderly conduct- $35.
Lost wages since I took 2.5 days off from work (and don’t receive POT)- $500+.
    Somebody owes me $1,860.00

Feminist rage scares some people. Having a privileged white man tell me to sit down, be nice and behave is a sign that I am headed in the right direction.

  65. Porter Lansing 2018-09-07 11:36

EXCELLENT, Tiffany. Feminist rage & privileged white man line … priceless!!

  66. OldSarg 2018-09-07 11:37

Sorry Darin. You still can’t provide one factual event where Trump did anything “Nazi”. That is such a nasty word, which you clearly don’t actually understand, that you should stop using it. It’s like running around calling everyone racist. It is starting to wear on the public. This is why your party is driving further and further to left field. People are seeing who the national nominees are and many of them are flat out nuts. You have to admit you guys brought Trump on yourselves. . The political establishment has become so weird American wanted ANYBODY that wasn’t from within. We tried once with Obama but he ended up worse than many in the establishment. Trump is your fault.

  67. Debbo 2018-09-07 12:06

    Perfect Tiffany! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

  68. OldSarg 2018-09-07 12:25

Tiffany, I do have a couple of questions if that would be ok?

    1) Since the judge will still be successful in his nomination did your hysterical outburst serve a positive purpose or do you think it turned more people against those on the left?

    2) Have you ever done something like that in the past?

  69. Tiffany Campbell 2018-09-07 12:40

    OldSarg,
You referred to me as an animal. Therefore you can kindly go F!#k yourself.

    Sincerely,
One pissed off and fired up mama bear that is just getting started.

  70. Debbo 2018-09-07 12:46

    My hero strikes again!

Tiffany, I wouldn’t get into it with OS if I were you. He’s no more rational than his heart throb, Pootie’s Puppet. You’ve much more important things to do, like speaking for all the millions of us who can’t be there. Besides, this blog’s commenters, just like this country, has got your back.

  71. bearcreekbat 2018-09-07 14:00

Tiffany, I too thank you for your efforts and willingness to protest.

And I agree with Debbo’s comment about OS. As best I can tell from my experience in attempting to discuss issues here with OS is that OS usually (but not always) writes comments intended to troll others with insults, call others pejorative names, make broad false negative stereotypes to create an “other” group to be demeaned, change topics, and focus attention on himself instead of whatever issues Cory raised in whatever thread is involved.

That said, I agree it is appropriate to post supported factual responses to false and misleading assertions of fact by OS, so I appreciate your comment on not being paid by anyone to stand up for the rights of women to safe health care.

  72. mike from iowa 2018-09-07 14:10

OldSoylentOrange revels in being mean to the ladies. Makes one wonder what his upbringing was like.

I am happy to know none of the protesters were maced or shot while attempting not to flee. I was gladdened to know eye witnesses for the other side could tell people were getting paid to protest while waiting in line to watch the hearings before they started. Extraordinary Sensory Perception.

I also appreciate the time and commitments people made to actually go and do this stuff as a service to the country and to those who have trouble ambulating. My spirit goes with all the righteous protesters, even though this game was rigged from the get go. A hearty thank you all.

This is interesting, although it won’t prevent Kavanaugh from being confirmed.–https://www.rawstory.com/2018/09/brett-kavanaugh-lied-least-4-times-oath-confirmation-hearings/

  74. Tiffany Campbell 2018-09-08 19:57

  75. OldSarg 2018-09-08 21:47

Tiffany, so now it is all about money for you? This is what you sunk too? You go make a show of yourself and then come back and ask for “money” because you are such an “activist”? So passionate, so involved, so much you contribute by acting fool in from of America? What you did was not “protest”. What you did was act like a fool. You embarrassed yourself and your family. Now you are all about getting “money”. Money, money, money. . .” please consider donating to me”. Give me money, pay my way, work and send the money to me because I am so giving. . . Barf You are a capitalist hiding behind the skirt of socialism.

  76. Porter Lansing 2018-09-08 21:50

Go pass out, Os. You’re that guy that shows up and everybody leaves.

  77. Tiffany Campbell 2018-09-08 21:55

    OS,
I hope someone close to you cares enough to help get you the mental health care that you obviously need.

  78. OldSarg 2018-09-08 22:15

Tiff, between you and you other ilk you now know why you had to act like a wild banshie as opposed to a civil member of society. I had warned members of the democrat party what was happening and why they were on the wrong track to win anything but then they went and embraced the very actions that have driven away civil Americans.

Just keep on destroying what is left of the democratic party. You and your friends have done this to yourselves.

  79. OldSarg 2018-09-08 22:16

Oh, I forgot, get your paycheck as well. I hope you get enough money to go to that island, hang on the beach and laugh about those you suckered. . .

  80. Jason 2018-09-08 22:22

    Tiffany,

Who paid for the plane ticket?

If you paid for it personally, will it be reimbursed?

Your actions in DC make me reconsider your allegations in SD.

  81. Debbo 2018-09-08 22:29

Tiffany, I doubt he will. I’m getting to the place where I’ll probably just ignore him. He says the same stuff over and over, even though they’ve been proven lies, and regardless of what the actual topic is. OS is a lot like Pootie’s Puppet in that way. A lot like the Pootiepublicans as a whole.

They’ve begun putting out attack ads because Pootiepublicans don’t have accomplishments to run on. They thought their tax deform would do it, but everyone hates it, except them, their wealthy owners, and a few minions like OS.

The Pootiepublicans got nuthin’. So like any childish bully, they’re turning purely to attacks. Of course those are provable lies, but what else can we expect? Their Dear Leader is the Liar-in-Chief and they are the Party of Lies.

(Reminds me of how most Christians refer to the devil as the Father of Lies. Interesting. Hmmm.🤔🤔🤔)

Anyway, that was really a long way to get to the gist of my comment. OS has proven himself to not be worth my time or yours. He’s sure not to recognize that as his loss.

  82. Tiffany Campbell 2018-09-08 23:01

    Jason and OS,
You are scared of my feminist rage and despise me because I have more courage than both of you combined. Women will make our country great again. Your comments prove that I am making a difference and you are afraid of losing your white male privilege. Thank you for encouraging me to fight harder.

  83. Jason 2018-09-08 23:06

I’m not scared of your intellect at all. You not answering my questions tells me all I need to know.

You just confirmed that I can’t trust any of your accusations. I did at first, but now I can’t.

  84. Tiffany Campbell 2018-09-08 23:14

    Jason,
Bless your fragile heart. You’re upset I didn’t answer your question? Why do privileged white men think they deserve an answer from women? You disrespect me and demand an answer? You have a lot to learn.

  85. Jason 2018-09-08 23:17

You assume I am white? Why would you assume that?

    That’s very racist.

I’m going to assume you didn’t pay for the plane ticket or the arrest fine.

    Am I wrong?

  86. grudznick 2018-09-08 23:19

Ms. Campbell, I’m not sure I have an answer for you to your second ? mark in the above blogging, nor do I have a pony in this fight, but I think fellows who have a lot of money and get to eat breakfast wherever they want with the best bacon money can buy can sometimes get a little jaded. I’m not saying Mr. Jason is jaded, I think maybe you’re just not looking at whatever issue you have with him from a different angle. I’m not even sure if he’s a white man, but that doesn’t really matter.

grudznick is usually your best mediator and voice of reason. Take a deep breath, roll your shoulders back, breath again, and then meditate on those items where you and Mr. Jason do agree.

  87. Jason 2018-09-08 23:24

    I do lie bacon.

  88. Jason 2018-09-08 23:24

  89. Jason 2018-09-08 23:30

“Women will make our Country great again”.

    Isn’t that a sexist statement?

Are you saying a certain sex can make a Country better than the other sex?

  90. Debbo 2018-09-08 23:34

Tiffany, Jason is worse than OS. Another one not worth your time.

  91. Jason 2018-09-08 23:37

    Tiffany,

What Debbo is saying is you are not intelligent enough to have a conversation with me.

How does that make you feel?

  92. OldSarg 2018-09-09 06:27

Tiff, seriously: Did you decide all on your own to travel to DC and attend the hearings? Did you know before you entered you were going to make a scene? Was your actual intent to go and just listen and then you lost your self control? Have you acted like you did in the Senate in the past? Have you ever been arrested for assault, battery or any other violent acts? Do you now take, or have you in the past taken any antipsychotic medication? Do you own a gun?

  93. mike from iowa 2018-09-09 07:34

And yet he thinks we are the dangerous ones. This fruit needs the mental health intervention that eluded Doctor Bosworth.

  96. OldSarg 2018-09-09 07:47

morning mike. Why did you get up today, meals on wheels coming early?

  97. jerry 2018-09-09 08:08

  99. mike from iowa 2018-09-10 18:09

OldSwine, I get up each day just to make a fool out of you. I love the way you prove every day and in every conceivable way that you were hatched out on a fence post. No respect for the elderly, disabled, poor. Doesn’t matter. You denigrate them all.

  100. mike from iowa 2018-09-10 18:11

You are welcome, bcb. I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but even I can see bad times coming for this country and wingnuts will just stand by and let it happen. Or make it happen.

  101. Tiffany Campbell 2018-09-10 20:41

I had the honor of meeting Sen. Kamala Harris while she was on her way to K’s hearing. I was in the Dirksen and Hart buildings delivering of my friends abortion stories when she walked by and thanked us for being there. It was an absolute honor to meet her. She sent the following email via moveon.org

After four days of hearings, here are five things that we know for sure about Brett Kavanaugh:

    1. He has not committed to uphold Roe v. Wade, and, if appointed to the Supreme Court, he would likely be the decisive vote that would undermine the right to safe and legal abortion.

    2. He refers to birth control as “abortion-inducing drugs” and believes that employers have the right to exclude birth control from health insurance plans.

    3. He has gone further than the Supreme Court and written that assault weapons and high-capacity magazines cannot be banned under the Second Amendment.

    4. He believes that a sitting president should never be indicted, and he refuses to answer even basic questions about presidential authority, such as whether or not a president can pardon him or herself.

    5. He has flat-out refused to recuse himself should any of the president’s civil or criminal investigations reach the Supreme Court.

I am doing everything that I can to have a thorough hearing for Kavanaugh, because I believe that Supreme Court justices need to do right by our Constitution and the American people.

And Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee (and the protesters in the hearing room, and those outside holding rallies every night) are doing everything they can to expose the truth about Kavanaugh.

    – Sen Kamala Harris

  102. Porter Lansing 2018-09-10 20:46

So proud of you, Ms. Campbell. What a great reward to meet and speak with the future first female USA President. Keep up the good work.

  103. OldSarg 2018-09-10 21:33

It is over. Kavanaugh will be appointed. Your act was a wasted effort.

“I had the honor” No, you have no honor. You embarrassed our state. To have traveled from our state to the home of our Nation and to have acted like a wild banshie embarrassing our whole Nation in front of the world is not “honorable” nor is it civil. As a member of our society you have a responsibility to uphold the reputation of our state but you failed. Kavanaugh will still be appointed to the court and you will have still embarrassed our state. You cannot ever take it back. You should wear a scarlet “E” for the embarrassment you caused our home for the rest of your days.

You have no pride you have no state to call a home. Please turn in your South Dakota residency.

  104. OldSarg 2018-09-10 21:35

Oh, Portly doesn’t live in South Dakota. He lives in Colorado. They would be happy to have you. Share a joint.

  105. Tiffany Campbell 2018-09-10 21:36

    OS,
I know you didn’t mean to make me laugh but my stomach hurts from laughing.
You don’t even have the courage to comment using your real name. LMFAO!

  106. OldSarg 2018-09-10 21:40

I don’t believe your name is Tiffany. Tiffany means ‘manifestation of god’. You are with the devil. You support the killing of the most innocent, an unborn, undefended child. What you support is the grossest of any act conceivable to man or woman.

  107. Porter Lansing 2018-09-10 21:41

  109. Porter Lansing 2018-09-10 21:43

What ‘cha gonna do about it, turds for brains?

  110. Tiffany Campbell 2018-09-10 21:49

Women know what’s at stake with Kavanaugh’s nomination. It goes beyond our basic rights. It concerns our lives.

It’s hard for many to remember, but before Roe v. Wade legalized abortion nationwide, people still had abortions; they just had unsafe ones. The momentum behind Roe wasn’t just political. Women were literally dying from unsafe abortions.

We know that if someone wants an abortion badly enough, they will find a way to have one, whether it’s legal or not. As abortion has become more inaccessible in Texas, for example, as many as 240,000 people have tried DIY abortions. Without access to legal abortion care, some pregnant people continue with unwanted pregnancies, but many don’t. For some, this means risking arrest, jail time—or death.

Research has shown that countries where abortion is more restricted actually have slightly higher rates of abortion—they are just more likely to be unsafe. According to the Guttmacher Institute, at least 8 percent of maternal deaths worldwide are the result of unsafe abortion, and more than 22,000 women die every year of complications from unsafe abortion. When abortion isn’t legal, it doesn’t go away; it becomes unsafe. In countries where abortion is illegal or severely restricted, pregnant people die. That’s not hyperbole; that’s a fact.

The cries of hysteria that Ben Sasse so cavalierly noted are, in fact, women begging the United States government not to kill them.

    https://rewire.news/article/2018/09/05/ben-sasse-women-arent-being-hysterical-theyre-begging-the-government-not-to-kill-them/

  111. OldSarg 2018-09-10 21:56

“It concerns our lives.” and THAT is the problem. You only worry about yourself and what you can get even if it means sacrificing the lives of others. This is where you need to look inside yourself and ask yourself why you live a life filled with hate and evil. This is also why you are not considered a member of a civil society. Any person, man or woman, who works to destroy the future of one’s own community is not a part of that community. You are a person with no home.

  112. Porter Lansing 2018-09-10 22:06

What a clown. Can you juggle with your feet, like an ape? 🤡 🐵

  113. grudznick 2018-09-10 22:11

My goodness, Mr. Lansing, if a fellow could juggle with his feet he could cook with 4 sauce pans at once. Or are you just trying to lure one of your goats back by joshing me with such silliness, no doubt induced by second-hand demon weed smoke inhalation at your local establishment.

I know Porter. I’d love it if Madam President Kamala Harris was inaugurated in January, 2021. Now there would be a real, honest, genuine, non-photo shopped massive crowd and the parade streets would be packed too. It would be like awakening from a really bad nightmare.

Reaching for that wonderful vision, THAT is why Kamala Harris, Tiffany Campbell, the rest of the protesters, you, me, Cory, Mike, BCB, Jenny, Jerry, Leslie, T, Darin, JKC, RJ, O, SDBlue, Dana, Donald and all the rest of the anti-Russian-shills, pro USA democratic republic people Work. So. Damn. Hard.

  119. Jason 2018-09-10 23:27

    Cory,

Please post a video of an abortion being done on your site. I saw one when I was in 8th grade.

Let people see what you and Tiffany are so proud of.

  120. Jason 2018-09-10 23:36

Tiffany obviously didn’t personally pay for her travel or fine.

Why does Tiffany never talk about the mental issues women have that have had a abortion?

Roe now regrets what she did.

    Let’s discuss that Tiffany.

  121. Porter Lansing 2018-09-10 23:38

Jason. Say, “Clump of cells.” That always makes you seem clever.

  122. Darin Larson 2018-09-11 00:02

The Republicans have declared the political equivalent of total war in their quest for power while at the same time the Democratic party has been far too passive for far too long not unlike the US in the years leading up to December 7, 1941. The US Constitutional dictate that the Senate advise and consent on the nomination of Merrick Garland was violated by the very party that espouses their adherence to our sacred formative document. But Republicans would sooner see the Constitution ripped to shreds and lit on fire than to see a moderate like Merrick Garland seated on the Supreme Court by their sworn enemy, Obama. Suppressing voter turnout and gerrymandering their way to control of Congress and supporting an amoral, narcissistic, compulsive liar for president are merely means to their end.

After last week’s hearings, if Republican total war strategy was successful, Kavanaugh will transform himself from the guy who respects Roe v. Wade as “precedent upon precedent” and the settled law of the land for 45 years into the guy who will overturn Roe at the first opportunity. Although, it will be interesting to see how Chief Justice John Roberts votes on overturning Roe given the fact that Roberts knows that the reputation of SCOTUS will forever be sullied as it will be transformed into a purely political body deserving of no more reverence than the local town dog catcher. Will Kavanaugh’s view prevail and turn SCOTUS into a permanent political tug of war in which each new incarnation of the majority on the court overturns every decision important to the previous majority? Or will John Roberts save the court from permanent catastrophe and vote to uphold Roe v. Wade on the basis of Stare Decisis?

I applaud the activism of Tiffany Campbell as she represents those of us that can’t be “in the room where it happens.” I also suggest that the feigned outrage of OS and his ilk for the mild disruptions and civil disobedience by Ms. Campbell and other like-minded individuals is merely a distraction from the fact Republicans stole a seat on the Supreme Court. Republicans are outraged at brief discourteous outbursts while forgetting the intentional failure of Senate Republicans to do their constitutional duty with regard to the nomination of Merrick Garland. Which is worse for our democracy: The brief shouts of protesters as they are hauled out of the hearing room or the failure of Senate Republicans to do their duty under the Constitution to advise and consent on a president’s nomination to the Supreme Court?

The irony here is that the shouts of protesters, however discordant, are music to the ears of democracy, while the refusal to act on a nomination required by the Constitution is the silent sound that may ultimately drown out democracy.

  123. Debbo 2018-09-11 00:21

    Beautiful comment Darin. Thank you.

  124. Jason 2018-09-11 00:38

It’s obvious Darin doesn’t understand the US Constitution. I blame it on his teachers in school and I also blame it on him in his current age.

It’s obvious Darin didn’t listen to one word Ben Sasse said.

Let’s discuss the rulings the Supreme Court has been wrong with.

  125. Porter Lansing 2018-09-11 01:21

Jason. There weren’t videos when you were in the eighth grade. PANTS ON FIRE 🔥!!

  126. bearcreekbat 2018-09-11 02:02

OS is on a genuine trolling binge. His feeble attempts to use comments as a personal attack weapon are not worth reading and add no meaningful arguments or information to the issue of protesting this SCOTUS nominee, nor to the issue of whether the government that he claims to fear should take control over our family planning decisions.

That said, Tiffany is correct about a key aspect of the issue. 0veruling Roe will not prevent abortions, but it would allow our government to make it a crime to provide women needing abortions safe medical assistance. Roe and its progeny are a limit on government power based on a right of privacy in family planning and procreation. Overruling Roe opens the door for the power of our government to force abortions, force sterilization, prohibit viagra and other male sexual aids, limit the number of children a person can have, among other rights now protected by Roe and related rulings recognizing the right of privacy.

It is unfortunate that commenters like OS and Jason have not considered the potential consequences of the public policies they apparently hope will be implement by a proposed Justice apparently intent upon over-ruling our established Constitutional right of privacy in family plannig matters.

And as an aside, it is worth recognizing that the death rate for women in America who give birth is among the highest in the developed world, and for every woman who dies giving birth, 70 more women nearly die and suffer serious injury. Just another overlooked consequence of empowering the government to control reproductive decisions.

    https://www.npr.org/2018/05/10/607782992/for-every-woman-who-dies-in-childbirth-in-the-u-s-70-more-come-close

This mortality rate would necessarily increase if our government is empowered to deny health care or medical assistence to women who need abortions.

  127. OldSarg 2018-09-11 05:35

bare… [Hey, OS: I’m going to ask that you knock off this name-calling. Bearcreekbat deserves better. —CAH]

…~ you can bloviate all day long but you cannot justify the intention killing of a child period.

    I can’t even imagine the the person walking into a semi-sterile room with a scared young girl on the table and that person has one directive in mind; The killing of the child within the young girl. What kind of person can perform such an act and know know full well they will burn in a thousand hells? That person is not human. It is not normal but I guess if you are willing to accept that horrendous act you can accept freaking anything. That is not even civilization. It is lower than the life of an animal which do not even intentionally kill their offspring. Hmm. . . Is there another animal that will kill it’s own offspring? I googled it and national geographic does say: “Indeed, mother bears, felines, canids, primates, and many species of rodents—from rats to prairie dogs—have all been seen killing and eating their young.”.     I can’t even imagine the the person walking into a semi-sterile room with a scared young girl on the table and that person has one directive in mind;

There’s yer problem, Gomer. Stop imagining things that you have zero chance at experiencing and stop torturing yer twisted, deviated mind. I promise you you will feel better. Instantaneous relief. Then you will feel safe enough to go back to Stormfront where your views of the world are more likely to b acceptable. Take Jason with you.

Bearcreekbat, thanks for pointing out the larger context that surrounds Roe v. Wade. As big as the issue of abortion is, the overall right to privacy and freedom from an overbearing government meddling in our private lives is critically important.

The irony is that Republicans want to deregulate business at the same time they want to over-regulate women and their health-care providers.

  135. Jenny 2018-09-11 09:04

Did you kill people in any wars, Sarg? I couldn’t imagine having to kill any innocent people in a war or dropping bombs on innocent civilians but yet our govt does it all the time.
How many millions of people have our govt killed and most of it all based on lies?

  136. Porter Lansing 2018-09-11 09:15

Bingo, Jenny. OldClown has latent guilt that surfaces through anti-women hostility.

  137. jerry 2018-09-11 09:38

Jenny, Surgical strikes went out the window when the military industrial complex found they could not sell enough bombs. So now, instead of direct targeting, we are back to “to whom it may concern” when we release the payloads. Keep in mind the word “payloads”, cause that is what it is all about, the money, always the money,

For the record, the only action OldSoviet has seen is what Putin tells him he saw. When you are on the paytroll, you are on the Putin clock.

  138. Porter Lansing 2018-09-11 09:50

Jerry – Watch this trailer. It’s about the drone pilots at Ellsworth and the mental toll it takes on their brains. In short, they remotely kill terrorists in the Middle East with drones and then wait a couple hours until the families show up to mourn their dead. Then, they remotely kill the families, too. (Justified by the thought, “If they’re innocent they wouldn’t be mourning terrorists.”)

Bolton wants us out of the International Court to make the world a free fire zone with no repercussions. Destroy the world the say the world, how about that. From the Associated Press:

“Yet the prosecutor’s request says there is “a reasonable basis to believe that members of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), in particular members of the National Directorate for Security (NDS) and the Afghan National Police (ANP), have engaged in systemic patterns of torture and cruel treatment of conflict-related detainees in Afghan detention facilities, including acts of sexual violence.”

During a three-month period that ended in January, the International Criminal Court received a staggering 1.7 million allegations of war crimes from Afghanistan, although some involved entire villages alleging a war crime.”

Still, thousands of individual statements as well as statements filed on behalf of multiple victims, were received by the ICC in The Hague. The statements were collected by organizations based in Europe and Afghanistan and sent to the court.

War is a racket Porter and with Kavanaugh in, it will continue with much more vigor.

  140. jerry 2018-09-11 10:09

Porter, killing doesn’t change much, it is still killing. Here is from my own war in Vietnam, saw the same indiscriminate war crimes, testified in one: From Full Metal Jacket https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S06nIz4scvI

  141. Porter Lansing 2018-09-11 12:31

Yep. Same killing. I have a friend that was with Calley at My Lai in ’68.

That evil bastard chickenhawk, Darth Cheney, loved war, as long as he never had to risk a single vile cell. Remember his enthusiasm for “perpetual war,” and the $billions his Halliburton skimmed and scammed in Iraq and Afghanistan? Yeah, and it’s still happening for him and his cronies.

Once upon a time, being a “war profiteer” was a mark of shame. Now it’s business as usual.

Once upon a time this topic was about courageous protests against a perjuring, corrupt SCOTUS nominee. I’m done with this one. See y’all on other posts.

mfi, One of the talking points I have heard defending Kavanaugh is that he did not complete the attempted rape, hence no harm no foul, i.e. boys will be boys. I am surprised that no one in the media has explained that in most jurisdictions a failed attempt to commit a crime may be, and most often is, treated the same as the crime would have been treated had the attempt not been foiled and the actual crime completed. If Kavanaugh were to be found guilty of attempting to rape Ford, he would be sentenced just as if he had completed the rape.

Punishment for “attempted” 1st degree rape or “attempted” 1st degree “sexual offense” in Maryland is up to life imprisonment.

    See https://law.justia.com/codes/maryland/2016/criminal-law/title-3/subtitle-3/

    at sections 3-309 and 3-311.

“(a) Prohibited. — A person may not attempt to commit [rape or a sexual offense] in the first degree.

    (b) Penalty. — A person who violates this section is guilty of a felony and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding life.”

Finally, it appears that in Maryland a juvenile charged with a serious sex offense is automatically transferred to adult court to be tried as an adult, although in certain cases the juvenile may be transferred back to juvenile court.

    https://paliath.com/maryland-law-juvenile-tried-adult

The bottom line is that an attempted sex offense or rape is just as serious as the completed crime and the idea that boys will be boys has no application in the case of serious sex offenses.

  145. Debbo 2018-09-22 13:42

The dirty old white men on the judiciary committee are effectively terrorizing middle and high school girls while giving the green light to middle and high school girls.

I don’t know if any of you males here can imagine the white hot rage those repugnant old men have created in millions of women and girls in this nation and around the world. Perhaps if you try to imagine your daughters, granddaughters and nieces being assaulted and gang raped . . . . .

  146. Debbo 2018-09-22 13:51

BTW, this post was originally about Tiffany Campbell of Sioux Falls protesting in DC. So many people believed in her and how critical this protest is that they raised enough $ for her, and others, to go again.

The brave Ms. Campbell has been arrested again. She also got to meet another one of our wonderful champions, Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii. You may have heard that Sen. Hirono said, from her seat on the Judiciary Committee, that she, (all of us), want men to “Shut up and step up.”

Sen. Hirono’s point is that the disgrace of this entire Kavemanaw process and the disregard for women’s autonomy is not merely a women’s right. It is a human right.

  147. bearcreekbat 2018-09-22 13:54

One other point – It appears that currently there is no statute of limitations in Maryland for the prosecution of serious sex offenses.

    https://www.legalmatch.com/law-library/article/maryland-statutes-of-limitations-for-sexual-abuse.html

If this was the law at the time Kavanaugh committed the original offense, he could still be charged with that crime. But if there was a shorter statute of limitations when the crime was committed he would be subject to the statute of limitations in effect at that time. The same is true as to the law of attempt and the penalties for such offenses. This limiting rule applies due to the ex post facto clauses of federal and typical state constitutions.

  148. mike from iowa 2018-09-22 14:16

Maryland’s wingnut guv said no to an investigation into Kavanaugh case.

Franklin Graham and Orrin Hatch both said we need to see what kind of a man Kavanaugh is today. What happened in the past doesn’t matter, unless we’re talking about William Jefferson Clinton.

And it sounds as if the confirmation vote was held already and the hearing is just a formality. McCTurtle told Value Voters they would get their man confirmed.

I hate the thought of the damage an activist extreme right wing court will do to this country. Maybe impeach all five will be the wave of the future. Maybe our only hope.

  149. mike from iowa 2018-09-22 14:18

Thank Kismet for voices of reason in Debbo and Bearcreekbat. Cory and some others, too.

  150. T 2018-09-22 14:25

This is coming down to “getting your way”
5 year old fanatics. It’s not about justice for the people by the people, as if it were we would have an investigation. Women should be mad as hell this type of thing isn’t taken seriously. No one will protect any woman’s honor here unless they are slain by an “illegal”. Then guess what? It again isn’t about protecting any honor, it’s about getting “ones” way with a wall. It should be valued when a woman claims shananigans not devalued
    And head hunted.

  151. bearcreekbat 2018-09-22 14:28

mfi, on the statute of limitations (SL) point there is case law ruling that as long as a new longer SL is enacted before the old SL runs the new SL will govern. Assuming there is no SL bar in Maryland, a new governor could direct the investigation of Kavanaugh even after he is appointed to the SCOTUS. Indeed, with a criminal complaint levied by Ford, law enforcement normally has the obligation to bring the case to the grand jury regardless of a governor’s wishes. This would not be the first time a federal judge has been indicted, although it could be a first for the SCOTUS.

    https://heinonline.org/HOL/LandingPage?handle=hein.journals/uflr35&div=26&id=&page=

Imagine, Tiffany Campbell is charged with a crime for peacefully protesting the appointment of a federal judge who now has been accused of attempted rape or an attempted sexual offense against a 15 year old girl. Is this a bizarro world or what?

  152. mike from iowa 2018-09-22 15:09

T- iowa had a case where a collegiate champion Woman’s golfer (at Iowa State) was raped and murdered while she played a round of golf by herself. She, by the way, is Hispanic from Spain. The killer is a white homeless iowan who was recently in jail and made statements he felt like rape and murder.

Did this story rate constant front page coverage for a month, as the one where the immigrant killed a white girl? I only happened to see it perusing news events from around the country. I have seen very little coverage of this case anywhere.

  153. mike from iowa 2018-09-22 15:12

bcb, these cases are so far over my head when it comes to statutes of this or that. It makes me sad to know how much about these kinds of things I don’t know. Thanks to you and others, I get a pretty good education about law stuff. Now someone needs to educate wingnuts about equal application of the laws between the two major political partys.

  154. Debbo 2018-09-22 15:24

T, I think you’re right about how many of them feel about this. Thanks Mike and bcb, for adding light.

Grassley has made it clear who his owners and real constituents are and it sure isn’t the fine citizens of Iowa. It’s Pootie, tealabangelicals, and big wingnut $. Mike and the rest of Iowa are merely an irritating inconvenience he has to lie and pander to for a few months every 6 years to get enough votes.

Mike, I’m guessing you feel as embarrassed by Grassley as I do by Congressjackass Jason Loser Lewis, Pootiepublican, District Two, Minnesota.

  155. mike from iowa 2018-09-22 16:27

Dang straight,Debbo, except Grassley has been an embarrassment far longer than your pup. I already told Grassley a couple of times he is an embarrassment to all iowa and needs to resign. I get the Chuck Talk in response. Like I never said a thing to him.

  156. T 2018-09-22 19:10

    MFI
    Interesting
More interesting let the guy out first that feels like raping and murdering someone instead of the quarter ounce pot person………

  157. Cory Allen Heidelberger Post author | 2018-09-22 19:20

As I noted on Facebook, the brave Ms. Campbell has now spent more time in jail for protesting injustice against women than any South Dakotan has spent behind bars for the real crimes of EB-5 and GEAR UP.

    Keep fighting, Tiffany.

  158. Porter Lansing 2018-09-22 19:28

Thank-you, Tiffany. History is the property of the victors.

  159. Debbo 2018-09-22 22:14

That is a good video. I’ve been urging my women friends who say they are very angry to go ahead, let it fly! As she said in the video, “Women and other marginalized people have been controlling their anger” forever.

As I said on another post, white males have no idea the hot anger that roars in the rest of us. We need to give ourselves permission to let that rage free, not in violence, but in truth.

Of course we’re enraged! We’re treated like property, like children, like 2nd class citizens– or less! Well, we are coming for our share of control. We are coming to gain full control of our lives. And not just white women. Women of color and children and males of color.

If that scares you, you best look at yourself in the mirror and wonder why.

  160. Tiffany Campbell 2018-09-22 22:52

    Thanks Porter and Debbo!
My boyfriend’s mom saw me live on CNN and asked him why I couldn’t be quiet. He asked her why she wasn’t screaming and that well behaved women seldom make history.
All of my friends have been sexually harassed or sexually abused, sometimes both. It happened to all of us so we considered it normal male behavior. It shouldn’t be considered normal. I am so thankful for the #metoo movement and for every woman and man that has shared their story. We are not alone.

  161. Debbo 2018-09-23 00:57

Damn right. And Yes, to both. It’s very common, and no less wrong for its commonness.

Here is Newsweek’s headline and story- https://www.newsweek.com/gop-woman-kavanaugh-assault-claims-what-boy-hasnt-done-high-school-1134736

Where was this opinion when the party of family values screamed for Clinton’s head for having consensual sex?

What are these people thinking? Had 17 y/o Kavanaugh had sex with the 15 year old it is still statutory rape since she was under the age of consent. SR is a serious crime and wingnuts have surrendered any and all previous claims to morals and decency. They are disgusting pigs.

  163. mike from iowa 2018-09-23 16:20

Miss Lindsey Graham, he of the open mind, impartiality-not, said today he would not allow Christine Ford’s testimony ruin Kavanaugh’s life.

I’m guessing if Kavanaugh did this, and nothing I have encountered leads me to believe otherwise, then Kavanaugh has ruined his own life and I get darn tired of stoopid freaking wingnuts blaming the victims of assault instead of the assaulters.

  164. Debbo 2018-09-23 16:22

It’s always so touching when they’re worried about the perpetrator’s life. MISOGYNY writ large.

  165. mike from iowa 2018-09-23 16:42

Stoopid wingnuts make me ashamed to be called a man.

If they go ahead with a confirmation vote immediately after the hearings, then we HAVE to make them pay at the voting booth. They all need to be voted out, even the new born ones. They do not deserve a shot to govern due to sins of their parents and that is an all time truth.

  166. mike from iowa 2018-09-23 17:06

I need an interpreter From Nikki Haley, woman, I think, Nikki Haley refuses to condemn Trump tweets attacking Ford: ‘We don’t know the circumstances’ of the sexual assault.’

I think she basically admitted the assault took place and now they have to determine if it was a good assault or a bad assault or something in between. These people make important decisions for all of us. Heaven help America.

  167. mike from iowa 2018-09-26 13:29

Third accuser has a sworn affidavit saying women were drugged and gang raped and Kavanaugh and Judge were present at the time(s).

Wingnuts want to push ahead with vote before more damaging info comes to light.

And lastly, Whorin Orrin wants the Scotus to redo 5th amendment so Drumpf can pardon his way out of Mueller investigation.

Really? Another Irish lawyer with a drinking problem? No way!!
    NYTimes – evening edition tonight
    – 1. On the eve of hearings at which one of the Supreme Court nominee’s accusers will testify, a theme has emerged as friends and acquaintances recall him as a youth: heavy drinking.
Extreme inebriation is also central in the account of a third accuser. Represented by Michael Avenatti, the lawyer who represented Stormy Daniels, she offered an account — but no witnesses — of alcohol-soaked parties when they were teenagers at which women were verbally abused, inappropriately touched and “gang raped.”
She said she saw him line up outside a bedroom where “numerous boys” were “waiting for their ‘turn’ with a girl inside the room.”

Avenatti is a third rate lawyer who is good at making false accusations, like he did on me and like he is now doing on Judge Brett Kavanaugh. He is just looking for attention and doesn’t want people to look at his past record and relationships – a total low-life!

    Michael Avenatti

    @MichaelAvenatti

“False accusations?” Like those crimes your fixer Cohen pled to? You are an habitual liar and complete narcissist who also is a disgrace as a president and an embarrassment to our nation. You are so inept that your “best and brightest” are Cohen and Giuliani. Let’s go.
