Democratic Voter Registration Up in August; GOP/IND Registration Up More

Democratic Kicking Donkey Logo
Keep kicking, Dems!

South Dakota Democrats netted more new registered voters in their party in August than we have in any month since October 2016.

Even so, the latest voter registration figures from Secretary of State Shantel Krebs show that, as of September 4, the 378 net new Democrats added to the rolls last month were only 16% of the 2,349-voter increase in registration during fair month. 35% of the new registrations were Republican and 47% were independent. Republicans and independents also posted larger percentage gains last month (0.33% and 0.91%, respectively, compared with Democrats’ 0.24%).

Since the peak of Democratic registration in July 2009 (back before the Tea Party, when we had a Congresswoman who got stuff done), Democrats are still down 49,355 voters, while Republicans are up 10,273.  Interestingly, the indy/non-affiliated roster over that time is up 38,143. The sum of new Republicans and indy/NPA is less than 2% shy of the net Dem loss. Tim Bjorkman, Billie Sutton, Randy Seiler, and Democratic friends, those are the voters we need to win back… and dare I suggest that Kristi Noem’s desperate call for help from Donald Trump signals that we have a chance of winning them back this year?

This reveals that the Republican Party is the party of the Caucasian, even in deep blue California.

“Democrats are still down 49,355 voters, while Republicans are up 10,273. Interestingly, the indy/non-affiliated roster over that time is up 38,143.” so, the conclusion from this data would be that the democrats cannot win. That’s just the fact. I think Sutton should be governor but he ran with the losers. the democrats have aligned themselves with radical animals like the ones we have been seeing disrupting the Senate hearings. This is why people are leaving the democrat party. Well bad behavior and their hating of America. And killing babies, And open borders, And coddling MS-13, And using the government to spy on the people, And using the government as a weapons against the people. . . and, and, and,. The list of reasons to dislike the democrats is now so long I can’t believe Sutton wasn’t smarter than that. He could have won had he run as a republican. I spoke to one of our state senators last night and she said the same thing. Said Sutton was great but just involved with the losing party. Very sad to see someone make a decision to align themselves with animals.

Good news though and the polls show close races. Party affiliation this voting cycle for governor and representative, might not mean as much as in the past. Democrats have exciting honest candidates while Republicans have the Russian’s and lawbreakers.

  4. OldSarg

I know jerry but polls do not win elections or hillary would be president. In South Dakota there are simply too many republicans and independents who vote for any democrat to even stand a chance. Sutton just made a mistake.

Actually if Billie decided to switch parties, even now, I would bet you a cold one he would win. The democrat party have just destroyed the party.

Comrade trump was denied starting a trade war with South Korea by Cohn, who ripped off this letter from the old crook’s desk saving South Dakota ranchers in excess of $22 million dollars in beef exports to South Korea. Here is the letter that was taken: https://twitter.com/RyanLizza/status/1037739279248748544/photo/1

Think of this voters, the bonehead and NOem would have willingly set into place at least $140 million dollars worth of exported goods from South Dakota as well as an additional $29 million dollars in services! Guess what industry would have had to fall on the sword once again? Yep, ag producers all, both farmers and ranchers.

Check it out, here is what is at stake by voting Republican…we can call it the farm and the ranch..willing to put it up? https://tradepartnership.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/BRT_TRADE_2015_SouthDakota.pdf

Germany fears trump more than terrorism or immigrants. Bah zing! We win! We are now so far from democracy that even where most of us immigrants came from to settle here in South Dakota, fear us.

“BERLIN (Reuters) – Concern over the policies of U.S. President Donald Trump has shot to the top of an annual ranking of Germans’ biggest fears, easily outstripping worries about refugees and terrorism, a survey showed on Thursday.” https://www.reuters.com/article/us-germany-fears-trump/worries-over-trump-shoot-to-top-of-german-fear-ranking-idUSKCN1LM1EF

Gwaad, how far down have we slipped. Thanks Republicans, it is up to you to change this, will ya do that for your country and for the world in which we live?
You don’t have to switch parties, just switch your vote.

    Sutton can’t win.

Why is that donkey facing right? The symbol of the Democratic Party faces left.

You haven’t mentioned what’s happened to at least a few, and probably to a significant number, of those Democrats: They’ve died. I’ve seen it in my own family and in several others: There was an older generation of S.D. Democrats, some who told me they were Democrats mostly because the Dems had better farm policies. As they die, the younger generation in those families is Republican.

This doesn’t go with the common assumption that Democrats are younger and Republicans are older, but in my observation, it’s the way it seems to go in much of South Dakota.

I’m still going with it is the radicalization of the Democrat party turning people off. Look what happened in Laramie yesterday. They burned down the new GOP office. https://www.newsweek.com/albany-county-gop-office-laramie-wyoming-set-fire-act-vandalism-1109418?utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=NewsweekTwitter&utm_source=Twitter

Something has happened to the party that is either attracting dangerous people or the members have become dangerous. In either case the democrats are on the cusp of destroying themselves or destroying our home.

OS, if you are collectively blaming parties for the actions of extremist members, keep in mind that you flock together with mad men who try to murder protesters by running them down in the streets with their car.

  12. mike from iowa

It was arson and probably an inside job. Funny how the spokesman knew a window was broken and several pieces of furniture were set on fire without comments from fire department or police.

  13. Clyde

To me that info only shows that people are tired of only being given the choice of the lesser of two evil’s. That and the electorate that continues to vote for the “right” party are ill informed and perhaps a little short of IQ.

  14. OldSarg

I’m not really surprised. The democrats have become a magnet for the crazy and radical left. Whether you folks are shooting people on a baseball field, school or burning a GOP office in Laramie it just further proves what your party has become. I tried warning you but it just doesn’t seem to make it through your thick skulls but that may also explain why common sense has such a hard time making it through.

I just really hope you figure it out before you hurt even more folks.

  15. Debbo

OS, I really admire your persistence in trying to make the Democratic Party look bad. I mean, you really put a lot of effort into it. You have your lines down pat. You are consistent. You fully believe that repetition is effective. You. Are. Determined. I’ll give you all of that.

The problem is that you are wrong. The Democratic Party isn’t the one that pals around with white supremacists and runs down innocent citizens with their cars. Nor are they the ones making headlines with indictment after indictment and guilty plea after guilty plea for fraud and other crimes. I could say more, but I’m pretty sure that any pile of facts I could present wouldn’t matter to you, because you’ve made up your mind and only accept what fits your narrative. So, enjoy your stories.

    Back to the topic:
Upon reading the figures my first thought was, oh, Democrats have switched to non-affiliated. I mean, all those n-a’s have to come from somewhere. Is it likely that 38,143 came entirely from new voters and newcomers to SD? I would guess that’s unlikely, just as it’s unlikely all the Democrats switched to GOP.

It can be difficult to be a Democrat in SD, but not n-a. N-a’s of course might vote for anyone and some GOPers will vote for a few Democrats. Now I’m not good at math, so I’m asking, how do the Democratic and n-a totals measure up to the SDGOP numbers?

  16. Heidi, odd thing is, we have the same number of registered voters now as in 2009, despite population increase. Maybe the disconnect between the conventional wisdom about younger voters leaning Democratic is that the younger voters in South Dakota are also not checking in to register and vote. We Democrats aren’t giving them much reason to participate when we don’t offer clear alternatives to the Republican regime. The youth who do get involved are the youth who opportunistically want to belong to the club and go to Trump Rallies. Yikes.

  17. OldSarg

Debbo, that is a good question “Now I’m not good at math, so I’m asking, how do the Democratic and n-a totals measure up to the SDGOP numbers?”. The problem is I don’t think there is a source for determining the true percentages of who is non-affiliated or independent from the parties. I know I am an independent but I am still a registered republican. My issue is a matter of the person running who would do the less harm. I will also say, nationally, 25% of democrats own guns and I would bet the percentage is even higher here in South Dakota so, when it comes to gun control, any politician who choses that as part of their platform here is making a mistake. I also understand the Catholic vote has a large democrat leaning yet with the movement to adopt social justice in our church, accepting homosexuality and now the news of pedophile priests flooding the airwaves Catholics are disgusted with our church leadership and are demanding answers, the will also drive members further right against such behavior. The church has always told us to “hate the sin but love the sinner” and for the most part we do but when our church leaders allow these things to occur it pisses us off, thus more go right. Then you have the right to kill children for any reason before the child is born; the majority of South Dakotans do not support abortion for “any reason” but are willing to accept it in certain circumstances and what happens? Radicals like Tiff throw hissy fits on National TV and we all saw it. That behavior also turns people off.

My point: I can pick almost any topic and between the news, videos and shooting deaths (by gangs, illegals) rampant drug use, homeless people on the streets and all of this in democrat controlled places and when we point this out we are attacked, this tells us all the democrats have decided they don’t like the majority of Americans and Americans know that.

I don’t know what will fix all this but I do know if people do not stand up against the democrats becoming full out fascist we will lose our home and I don’t want to see that.

  18. Debbo

Cory, in Minnesota 38% of new voter registrations are 18-30 year olds. There is a very vigorous voter registration drive, led chiefly by Democrats and left leaning organizations like Protect Minnesota and others. They have had voter registration tables at just about every event all summer long.

Maybe SD needs to do a better job of registering voters, though I suppose the SDGOP is in no hurry to register anyone.
