I respectfully yield the floor to my fellow Democrat Justin Roemmick, who just released the best campaign District 3 campaign video I’ve seen yet this year:
This is a snapshot as to how this campaign will fight for working people and families. pic.twitter.com/r0E8vDqb2M

That’s a good mix of real South Dakotans in that video. I was a little unsure why I was looking at that tomato, but then—pow! Repeal sales tax on whole grocery items! And no culture-war distractions—just more sensible policy to support the working class: twelve weeks paid parental leave (not practical? no way, says Roemmick… as well as the rest of the OECD!), $15 minimum wage by 2025 (under current law, based on the last two years’ inflation adjustment, our minimum wage will reach $10.19 by 2025), and funding for pre-K “because every dollar invested in education returns three dollars in new economic development” (and Roemmick is being conservative with that estimate).
There’s plenty of warm fuzzy imagery in this video, but that imagery is wrapped around solid policy priorities. I look forward to hearing more from Roemmick on the campaign trail!
Yep. I liked it. Policy. Well shot.
He did have some misguided policy ideas in there, but I was unsure which of the fellows in the movie was Mr. Roemmick. He sounds calm, and un-excitable, and not really on who would jump about and wave his arms as a slow-talker, but perhaps that is why he and Mr. H can make a good pair to campaign together. They can good-cop/bad-cop the voters.
Grudz makes a fair point about candidate recognition. Those tomatoes got more screen time than Justin did. Voters don’t have to see a face to remember the name and mark it on the ballot, but the name will stick even better with his calm face beaming from the frame and saying some opening and closing words to us directly.
Grudz, you’re not suggesting that the previous Republican House ticket won by playing good cop/bad cop, are you?
I’m grudgenutz, and I approve Justin’s message.
ANYTHING to give heartburn and pain to the current D3 delegation.
Mr. H, they played dumb cop/bad cop.
