What is she advocating for?
The options:
(1) turn families with children back immediately, deport them all without a hearing of their asylum requests
(2) incarcerate all children with the parents, when parents break the law. (Our foster care system is currently full of children whose parents are doing time for any number of offenses, not just illegal immigration.)
(3) abolish ICE and create open borders, allowing the unfettered traffic of drugs, prostitutes, slaves, criminals etc.
What’s the plan?
You don’t win by boxing us into false dilemmas (or trilemmas) and putting words in our mouths. Neither Anne nor I speak for Taneeza, but Anne failed to mention alternatives like community supervision and electronic monitoring.
But Anne, by proposing alternatives, are you agreeing that separating families at the border is an immoral policy?
. . . or Anne, maybe have a truthful examination of what really is the differentiation between “us” and “them” in this discussion.
And let’s put this on the table: use some of that hoarded wealth – some of that tax-cut excess – to use solving the problems of those in need instead of layering coat after coat of luxury on those already living so, so well.
Just the visual – regardless of the words she was uttering as the photo was shot – is beautiful. I wish the photo credit was from ‘That SF Paper’, but the photo is nonetheless beautiful.
Jump on O’s idea: use that hoarded wealth to buy GPS ankle bracelets for everyone entering illegally at the border. Much more efficient, far less morally atrocious than what Anne is strangely eager to defend.
Anne is just trolling. Hard to defend ripping small children from mom’s and dad’s arms, so she throws up an armload of scattershot bs hoping to distract us from the GOP atrocities.

I was at the Rally and it was awsome , Taneeza and other speakers were engaging the crowed and were encouraging many of us to stand up for the Truth and to support family values.

I do agree with Anne in this respect: we need to not just be against Trump, but be for American values, and for solutions that incorporate American values.
In our rally, there was a lot of support for abolishing ICE, but that is sort of like the Republicans’ call for abolishing the Energy Department. Even if you did it, 95 percent of the agency’s functions would have to be moved somewhere else. I notice Sen. Rounds and others who claimed they would abolish the Energy Department haven’t bothered to move a bill to do it. It was just a rallying cry for the dumb crowd.
My Representative promised to introduce a bill to abolish ICE. I suppose it serves a purpose, and maybe adopting a tactic from the Republicans will rally some folks to the cause, but if we want a solution, I expect it will have to come from someplace else.
I do think ICE has lost its way, and has to be reformed. This President has turned ICE into a terrorist organization, much like the brownshirts and SS in Nazi Germany. And we need to get the private security and prison companies and the military the hell out of immigration enforcement.
