Now this is the kind of Democratic synergy I like to see! South Dakota Democratic Party vice-chairman Joe Lowe and his lovely wife Wendy are the lead hosts for a joint fundraiser on Monday, June 18, in Rapid City for U.S. House candidate Tim Bjorkman and District 34 State House candidate George Nelson:
Among the co-hosts of this joint fundraiser is award-winning herpetological tourism promoter John Brockelsby (check that spelling, invite-printers!), who… wait a minute! Didn’t we just see him a couple months ago in a Shantel Krebs for Congress ad?
A Congressional candidate and a State House candidate helping each other raise money and votes? Great idea! A Democratic candidate peeling away a supporter of a Republican candidate who got beat in the primary just a week ago? Possibly even better!
Nelson and his Democratic ticketmate Brian Davis face Republican incumbent and Daugaard appointee Rep. Michael Diedrich and newcomer Jess Olson in the general election.
George Nelson is Libertarian Party chairman Aaron Aylward’s uncle, both are great people and would be great in our legislature. It would never be boring, that much I can guarantee!
Really, Hank! George J. Nelson of Rapid City? What a remarkable connection! Has Nelson ever expressed any Libertarian leanings?
Funny story: Aaron says he didn’t know Uncle George was running until I texted him just now.
I am going to give George a call, later today. I asked my other uncle, Noel, and my mother about it this morning and they said they knew, weeks ago! Thanks for keeping me in the loop! lol.
George is a great guy, and I wish him the best in his race!
There must be a bit of Libertarian in George, you should ask him Cory!
George was deeply involved in Joe Lowe’s run for Governor. George is a highly experienced candidate we are lucky to have running against Republicans
Aaron’s mom and dad neglected to let him know about my political aspirations. This afternoon we were able to connect and get up to speed on each other’s campaign. Needless to say, our family get-togethers frequently include political discussions. Respect has always been given to the varying sides.
Candidate Nelson! Glad to hear from you, and glad to hear this great family example of political comity. Of course, with Libertarians in the family tree, it’s bound to be political comedy….
Q: “What did socialists use for light before candles?”
A: “Electricity.”
Q: “Why did the Libertarian chicken cross the road?”
A: “None of your business. Am I being detained?”
That is funny! Makes me wonder why Sutton picked a boring old Republican as his running mate when he could’ve picked a funnier Libertarian.
