Among his prolific poop-ilations on the Sutton announcement, SDGOP spin blogger Pat Powers makes a fuss over the absence of the word “Democrat” from the Democratic gubernatorial candidate’s campaign website and announcement.
Hmm…
I check Republican candidate Kristi Noem’s gubernatorial candidacy website and do not find her mentioning her Republican affiliation. She also did not say “Republican” in her November announcement.
I check Republican candidate Marty Jackley’s gubernatorial candidacy website and find the word “Republican” describing himself once, in his opening paragraph.
I invite a full analysis of every public statement by the candidates for partisan content. However, looking at campaign websites, Sutton seems no more and no less forward about his party affiliation than his main challengers for the office of Governor.
Sutton’s website has a lot in common with Noem’s. Neither one of them says “GOP Party.” What’s Kristi hiding from? Who could really blame her for hiding her party affiliation though? Her only chance of winning is people not knowing she’s affiliated with the GOP Party.
It seemed very far-reaching by PP. Anyone who has half a clue realizes Sutton is a Democrat.
sssshhhh….Don’t ruin Pat Power’s closest original thought he has had in a long time.
Ruin it? Why would I do that—I gave him the idea! He even hat-tipped me! :-D
Cory, you just directed traffic to PP’s #2 political blog. He just admitted he uses gimmicks such as buying billiesutton.com and some Lora Hubbel website to redirect traffic to his page. Now you’re helping him too. I understand he needs all the help he can get since he has little on offer besides press releases and hypocritical stuff like the Sutton/Noem double standard. But why are you sending people to read the crap he posts? Is it because he makes your good work look even better by comparison?
Keep up the good work. We need competent journalism more than ever in this age of Trump.
If Ms. Noem jumped off a tree would Mr. Sutton feel the need to do it? He should be a leader not a follower. I say he should print the word DEMOCRAT in giant blue letters at the top of every yard sign handed out in Rapid City
Maybe that should be DEMOCRAT – Making South Dakota GOOD again.
Todd, Pat always reaches like that. I don’t know why anyone in Aberdeen would read his trash when they could learn much more reading a nice, informative, reliable blog written right here by one of their neighbors and enhanced by lots of friendly, non-anonymous commenters.
Ror, I agree that most of the time, Pat isn’t worth my time. But I still hold to the original ethos of the blogosphere that no blog is an island, that we thrive in an atmosphere where blogs interact, compete, and build on each others’ stories as part of a conversation that is bigger than any one of us. I keep dreaming that Pat will rediscover his conscience, apologize and return to decent blogging… or that we’ll see more people like John Tsitrian, Scott Ehrisman, Doug Wiken, and others add to the blogopshere.
calling yerself a dem in SD is like Piccard transporting over to the BORG. engage:)
