Rounds Breakfasts with Tech Industry Group; More Business over Democracy as Usual

Senator M. Michael Rounds gets someone to tweet for him a picture of his meeting with the Digital Dialogue Forum this morning in Washington, D.C. Taking advantage of this opportunity to talk tech policy would be a remarkable change for a man who, as Governor, hardly considered e-mail worth his attention and who, as a Senate candidate, said he was too busy “working” to engage voters via social media.

But having breakfast with the Digital Dialogue Forum would not represent a change in Senator Rounds’s all-corporations all-the-time politics. The DDF is a tech industry lobby that “helps policymakers understand industry concerns and priorities.” Not citizen concerns, not ways to promote community engagement, voting, and democracy with information technology, just ways to “promote e-commerce.”

Sprint, Oracle, Yahoo, Visa, Amazon… I hope you had a nice breakfast, Senator Rounds. Thanks for thinking of us, for a moment, with your tweet.

I doubt Rounds was there to learn anything, he was there only to accept a campaign contribution.

wonder if his close friend nutcase Huckabee was there?

Routine?? Maybe for big business. Don’t think I’ve seen Rounds meet with citizen groups

This is what his owners wanted and I’m sure Rounds comes pretty cheap.
