A new sponsor joins the Dakota Free Press roster this morning. Despite my teetotaling tendencies, the Sioux Falls chapter of Drinking Liberally invites you to join them every Friday at 4 p.m. at The 18th Amendment. The Sioux Falls chapter is part of a friendly, twelve-year-old national movement to offer liberal thinkers a chance to unwind at the end of the workweek with like-minded neighbors who don’t mind talking politics over their pilsners and porters.
Drinking Liberally also makes an interesting note about the fundamental democracy of bars:

We liberals do love democracy, which maximizes liberty for everybody. But liberals know that liberty assumes responsibility:

Drinking and politics sounds like a dangerous mix.

I’m sticking to circulating at Mormon churches and Kingdom Halls of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Bob the Jehovah’s Witnesses are to booze, as the Amish are to electricity. They will use it if they dont have to but it directly.

while a non-drinker (get it: al-ANON?), rapid city needs a weekly night to talk dem politics in a highly visible public place, and if it is a watering hole like the ALEHOUSE downtown on St. Joe, so be it, imo.

have been to a couple of these when it was at Wiley’s and it was good. We even got off politics and talked about other things and got o know people which is essential in a democracy! In fact that’s part of the problem, we segregate into different slinter groups and don’t communicate and work together to solve common problems! Check out Drinking Liberally, you might enjoy it and find out we’re all people who have the same the similar needs and dreams!
