Farmer Gets Coronavirus, Wishes He’d Gotten Vaccine

A friend shares an article about 41-year-old Nebraska farmer Quentin Bowen who didn’t go in for his coronavirus vaccine, got covid-19 mid-May, ended up in the hospital with blood clots in his lungs, and now can’t do regular farm chores and has to hook up to an oxygen tank each night. Now Bowen vows he’ll get the vaccine when doctors clear him, and he says the rest of you waiters should, too:

When asked what he would tell people who are skeptical of the vaccine, Bowen was blunt.

“I would say trust the science, forget the politics and the social media, and get vaccinated,” he said. “There’s nothing in this vaccine that can do to you what this disease can do to you, so why take the chance?” [Matt Olberding, “Nebraska Farmer Who Got Covid-19 Wishes He Had Gotten Vaccine,” Lincoln Journal Star, updated 2021.06.28].

Sure, Bowen might still have caught the bug if he’d gotten his shots, but the chances are really slim:

Only about 0.1% of vaccinated people have been infected with COVID-19, and the percentage of severe cases resulting in hospitalization and/or death is infinitesimally small, just 0.000026%, according to the CDC [Olberding, 2021.06.28].

Get your shots, neighbors.

Lmao Dave. Isn’t that the truth… Nothing’s ever a big deal until it happens to oneself or loved ones.

The delta variant is showing up in Fiji and other remote areas of the world.

    Get your shingles vaccine, too.

It makes your upper arm feel like you played “Slug Bug” all the way down to Vermillion but shingles isn’t something you want to risk contracting.

You know the next jump in cases will be in the areas that have the fewest vaccinations. Republicans have made this political and now thy can reap the rewards.

Well..”.It ain’t over til its over”. The virus doesn’t discriminate. It wants to kill everyone.

Delta variant confirmed in Northern Mississippi. Reckon Noem will throw a loop over it and drag it to nearest blue state? Or will it prove to be beneath her dignity and be ignored?

You know Porter, just before I retired I had my flu shot along with my pneumonia shot. The next day at school I was working on making molds for my glass castings, I didn’t have any classes but I started feeling a bit off so I started home. I called my wife and she wanted me to pick up some stuff from Publix. When I stopped at The supermarket I stepped out of the truck and almost fell over. I took two steps and turned around, I could barely get back in. I called my wife and told her to watch for me when I got home. It was about 10 miles away. I made it again barely, she opened the door for me, I made it to the couch and collapsed. I had a temperature of 104 and felt sick beyond belief. For two days. I know its supposed to be impossible but I reacted to the combination of shots. It happened so quickly I was just astonished. I didn’t take another shot until the two covid shots which were totally painless. I’m certainly not against vaccinations but that little event threw me off from any shots for three years.
