Walz Takes Serious Action Against Coronavirus, Ends up with Budget Surplus Just Like Heroically Lazy Noem

Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz has faced criticism for trying to be the “responsible parent” and protect his state from coronavirus. Walz’s conservative critics gave South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem an award for courage for her “heroic” choice not to implement comparably serious coronavirus-control policies, contending that South Dakota’s budget surplus compared to Minnesota’s projected budget deficit showed just how smart she was. Noem herself asserted her smarts on the same lines in January, neener-neenering Walz for creating a $1.3-billion budget shortfall with his coronavirus response.

But now it looks like Governor Walz’s coronavirus response hasn’t tanked the state budget:

If the era of COVID-19 has proven anything, it’s that the world is dynamic and things can change in a hurry.

That is certainly true when it comes to Minnesota’s budget outlook, which state economists say has swung from an anticipated a $1.3 billion deficit to a $1.6 billion surplus in a matter of months [Dana Theide and Miranda Manier, “MN Budget Forecast Swings to $1.6B Surplus from $1.3B Deficit,” AP/KARE-TV, 2021.02.26].

Gee, does that surplus make Walz a “hero”, too?

And people say those blue states are managed badly, well, I would say look at yourself, South Dakota. We don’t have deceitful AGs driving around killing people, and we don’t have photo obsessed governors running around the country using the state plane trying to stay relevent. We don’t have Walz using Covid money for tourism commercials. MN got hit the worst by the Sturgis free for all and Noem is still lying to this day about it. We have honesty and integrity and a billion dollar surplus in MN, in spite of the racial rioting.. Not bad, Gov Walz, you held your own and worked hard for us with compassion and empathy. It wasn’t easy, but you were always there for fighting for us. Thank you.

And Trump wanted to win MN so bad by scaring us about Ilhan Omar. Nope, didn’t work and as Omar said “he f’d around and found out.” :)

How heroic can Noem be when nearly 2,000 South Dakotans died from Covid 19? Not very.

Tens of thousands of people in this state would do a better job.

    Blue wave will replace her!

Mike, you’re so focused on the wrong stats. For every person who died, another family can move from Minnesota to South Dakota, “educate” their kids at home, and shop around for a school that will give their kids play time on the varsity team without any accountability.

Master, you want to restock South Dakota, send Texans a hasty invite before they get another wave of drumpf/noem death for the maskless, et al..

Slightly OT, again…. https://www.rawstory.com/trump-rates/ of the 100 counties with highest covid death rates ( Jerauld County, South Dakota had the highest death rate in the country, with 79.4 deaths per every 1,000 residents.) 70 of them voted for drumpf by an average margin of 18%.
