Johnson, Democrats Meeting Voters in Aberdeen

Drive-Thru Dusty
I feel like there should be a big screen at the end of the lot, some popcorn, maybe a double feature: John Ford and Sergio Leone….

The next couple weeks offer opportunities politicians in Aberdeen.*

Showing that he’s taking social distancing seriously, Representative Dusty Johnson is holding a drive-through event at the Fairfield Inn parking lot on Monday, October 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Congressman invites us constituents to “ask questions, share concerns, bring issues with a federal agency they need help with or just stop by to meet me.” Johnson’s e-mail doesn’t make clear if he’ll speak to voters one carload at a time in a queue, though it would be cool if drivers could come through, speak to Dusty first, then pull ahead and pick up a burger and fries.

After the drive-through event, Congressman Johnson is touring the Presentation College campus. (Dusty! You have to stop in the Registrar’s Office!)

Congressman Johnson faces no serious challenge to reëlection*, but Democrats who bothered to challenge other Republicans will be in Aberdeen Thursday to ask for your vote and your assistance in restoring the Republic. The Brown County Democratic Party is hosting a meet and greet outside on Main Street on Wednesday, October 14, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. U.S. Senate candidate Dan Ahlers, Public Utilities Commission candidate Remi Bald Eagle, the Democratic candidates for District 1 and 3 Legislature, and Brown County Commission candidate Mike Nehls will all be there to take questions and bold positions in favor of freedom and civilization. This gathering will happen outside the Brown County Dems’ super-cool downtown headquarters in the old Engel Music building, across the street from the Red Rooster, possible the best location for a Main Street business anywhere within a hundred miles (yeah, Watertown, let’s tussle!).

Correction 2020.10.02 05:55 CDT: I originally incorrectly stated that Johnson is not on the ballot, forgetting that he is contested on the ballot by a nominal Libertarian challenger.

Update 12:15 CDT: The BC Dems have postponed their candidate event to Wednesday, October 14. The original notice said the Democratic candidates would gather on October 8.

Pretty sure he was on the ballot I filled out. He has a Libertarian opponent.
