Santa Obama Brings Joy and Legos at Children’s National Hospital

Speaking of Christmas inspiration, Barack Obama put on his Santa hat and visited Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, last week. He darn near put one family he visited into cardiac arrest:

Citizen Obama’s two most important statements in this clip, statements telling us how cool a dude he really is:

I know everybody gets excited when they see Santa.

The thing about Legos is, you can always use more Legos.

True dat, Barack! True all dat.

powerlineblog, Jason? C’mon, man. (swelled up like a zit, on the wrong side of history)

on the other side of the christmas ledger we had the orange grinch flying to Iraq to press the flesh with troops. He took some pics with soldiers then reposted them with the names of Special Ops officers and showing their faces. Merry christmas soon to be targetted Special Ops guys. Your CIC thinks so much of you by thinking nothing of you.

When is this going to end, WINGNUTS?

On a commercial jet, anyone can fly into Baghdad International at any time, these days. There are several airlines that serve the place. It is like flying into Chicago. Now President Obama flew into Afghanistan, now that is when you give a care about your troopers. President Obama went to Afghanistan 4 times to see the troops there. The thing he did not do in Afghanistan was to expose an elite team of commandos. What was he thinking? Probably about being a president.

Speaking of Santa Obama, ACA good news!

“SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A new federal rule will require all hospitals to post a master list of prices online detailing the services they provide so people can review them.

Starting Jan. 1, every hospital nationwide will be required to post standard charges online for every item and every service they provide. That includes everything from drugs and casts to organ transplants and anesthesia.

This requirement was originally introduced in the Affordable Care Act of 2010.” https://www.kxan.com/news/texas/hospitals-will-soon-have-to-publish-prices-for-the-public-to-see/1675605206

Two years and change into this farce of a blowhard in the White House, we can only dream of when things were honorable in that place. All I wanted for Christmas was for Santa Obama to return and provide leadership without scandal and without Russian influence.

Wherever Santa Obama went, it was appreciated. Wherever bozohead goes, they want to boot us out, unless they are despots. Iraq knew it had a friend and now it knows it has a fiend.

“BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi lawmakers Thursday demanded U.S. forces leave the country in the wake of a surprise visit by President Donald Trump that politicians denounced as arrogant and a violation of Iraqi sovereignty.

Politicians from both blocs of Iraq’s divided Parliament called for a vote to expel U.S. troops and promised to schedule an extraordinary session to debate the matter.

“Parliament must clearly and urgently express its view about the ongoing American violations of Iraqi sovereignty,” said Salam al-Shimiri, a lawmaker loyal to the populist cleric Moqtada al-Sadr.” https://www.apnews.com/ab00e32b094b4684a15ef55765d98311

Should be interesting as we no longer have any kind of State Department that works honestly.

Jerry, that price list requirement is awesome! I’ll ask for it the next time I have the displeasure of visiting my doctor.

And Trump clearly can’t do anything right.

  10. Roger Cornelius 2018-12-27 13:51

Cory says, “and Trump clearly can’t do anything right”, is true as it gets.
While Santa Obama was handing out Christmas cheer and gifts to sick children in the Washington, D.C. area Trump was sitting in the White House with his lips on the floor saying, “poor me”.

mfi, Thanks for the link – stories like this give me great hope for the future.

  12. Porter Lansing 2018-12-28 13:02

Cory. Hopefully the only visit you’ll need to a Doc will be for the Obamacare mandated preventative health services. I don’t believe or know that the required listing of medical services prices applies to Doctors as well as hospitals.

  13. mike from iowa 2018-12-29 08:09

Master, Sheila Kennedy thinks a price list is worthless and she tells you why- https://www.sheilakennedy.net/2018/12/is-this-as-stupid-and-worthless-as-it-looks/

bcb, on the other side of the ledger, the 2 year old terminally ill Yemeni boy died in California. Fortunately for his tiny soul, his Mother was finally allowed a visa to come and see him on the 19th. She was determined not to be a threat to Ntional Security. otoh the orange menace in the kremlin annex is a threat to our nation’s security and should be deported.

  14. Cory Allen Heidelberger Post author | 2018-12-30 07:42

Mike, I agree with Kennedy’s statement, “Markets simply don’t work in these situations, and knowing that a hospital has posted its ‘best guess’ prices is irrelevant.” Patients in the hospital are often in no condition to research and deliberate over their medical choices, even if those choices were accurately and consistently priced. Nonetheless, I’d like there to be some sort of list there. I’d like the doctor and nurse to be able to show me a price tag for every pill and procedure they’re proposing to administer.

Of course, I’d much rather have a visit from Barack Obama than from any medicine man.

  15. bearcreekbat 2018-12-30 12:52

While Cory and Kennedy’s price posting skepticism looks reasonable on the surface, they have overlooked important factors. Although posting prices would not deter a consumer needing emergency service as suggested by Kennedy, such posting would be extremely helpful in reviewing the accuracy, appropriateness and enforceability of subsequent billings. It could help identify unconscionable or unlawful discriminatory practices.

For example, if such postings reveal a clearly unconscionable standard charge for a product or service, such as $25 for a single aspirin, a consumer would have a basis to challenge that charge.

An unconscionable contract is one that is so one-sided that it is unfair to one party and therefore unenforceable under law. It is a type of contract that leaves one party with no real, meaningful choice, usually due to major differences in bargaining power between the parties.

    https://www.legalmatch.com/law-library/article/what-is-an-unconscionable-contract.html

Likewise, such price posting could reveal when and why a hospital charges different amounts to different consumers, which could be evidence of unlawful or discriminatory pricing practices. This would assist consumer protection advocates in challenging improper pricing practices.

Thus, a posting requirement could be a real gift from Santa to consumers and their advocates!

  16. Porter Lansing 2018-12-30 12:58

Agreed, Bear – Selling something and not revealing the price until it’s too late to bargain or refuse the purchase is a negligent business tactic.

  17. Cory Allen Heidelberger Post author | 2018-12-30 14:20

A reasonable point, Bear: the price list may not help us avoid being screwed at the point of sale/service, but it can help us monitor and rectify screwage after the fact… and maybe support some smart policy reforms.

  18. mike from iowa 2018-12-30 14:34

In the meantime someone(s), usually from the poor side of town, gets the shorts screwed off them legally and I seriously doubt most would be okay being told, yeah, but, just look. Here is your name mentioned in a case of precedence law.
