The 2019 Legislature will have so much time to nap while the McCaulley Lobbyist Branch writes all the bills approved for passage that Governor-Elect Kristi Noem has decided to put a Hammock in the House.
Acceding to the expressed will of Lawrence County Republicans, Noem announced today that she will appoint Dayle Hammock of Spearfish to fill the District 31 House seat to which the deceased Chuck Turbiville was elected last month. According to Noem’s release, “Hammock has served in law enforcement for more than 40 years and has given his time and talent to other public service roles including the Meade County Commission, Meade County Planning Commission, and the Ellsworth Task Force.”
The Lawrence County GOP met last month and nominated Hammock for the job over five other applicants.
Shad Olson will want to check Hammock’s residency: Fast People Search lists a current address of a mere P.O. Box in Spearfish preceded by addresses in Sturgis, Nebraska, and Colorado, all of which are outside District 31.
Noem can now turn to filling the pending vacancy in the District 9 House delegation created by Deb Peters’s abrupt job change this month.
Is this guy another winger.
I happen to have had some personal experience attempting to reason with Dayle Hammock. I thought I would never so much as see his name again, and now, today, it/he has returned. There is, quite possibly, nothing good about this man.
Fellow South Dakotans, Noem & Company is about to turn the direction of our already misguided state in an even more misguided direction. Buckle up; this ride is really gonna suck.
Dayle Hammock is very susceptible to corrupt money. Catch him – if you can.
Adam, please, tell us more. And how long has he lived in District 31?
I live in District 31 and don’t believe I’ve ever heard of or seen Hammock. I wonder who the other choices were.
He used to be a Meade County Commissioner. I thought he had been run out of town, but instead the guy just went north a couple/few miles.
He was known for privately purchasing land which was ripe for new county infrastructure (such as roads), and then facilitating his own direct conflict of interest as a County Commissioner in the support for said infrastructure.
I heard he was run out of a small town in Colorado before he found his way to Meade County, and that he would very likely be run out of Meade County just the same.
He’s been a SDGOP wannabe for decades now, but he’s a little to unsophisticated and not from here to be fully allowed into the club. But here he is again – found himself a new county to live in and FINALLY got himself plugged into SD Republican politics.
How did he win over the Lawrence County GOP over some of the longer standing members of the party there? Didn’t John Teupel or someone like that want to go to Pierre?
