Trick or Treat—Republicans in the Graveyard?

Ah, Halloween, when candidates join ghouls and goblins in the holiday faux-graveyards:

Steve Barnett campaign signs with Hallowe'en decorations, Aberdeen, SD, 2018.10.06.
Steve Barnett campaign signs with Halloween decorations, Aberdeen, SD, 2018.10.06.

I’ll say this for Steve: he got his font figured out. I seem to recall rocketing back through Hughes County around GOP convention time and seeing some even bigger signs on which Barnett’s name was too tiny to read from the road. His design now, popping his last name out past the blue state border, is a significant improvement.

Now if only those other tombstones had bigger fonts: RAVNSBORG, NOEM, TRUMP… all about to be buried by facts, voter outrage, and a desire for honest and competent public service.

I’m all for overconfidence on the part of Pootiepublicans. They have no idea. I like it that way.

Actually, the GOP got this legitimizing idea from a book entitled, ‘Cook County for Dummies.’

Very cool house unflattering choice of shingle – criminal! Contrary to your opinion people are pretty happy with their Republicans around here you’ll never win anything without the support of at least some registered Republicans time for you to accept that – constant bashing excites and entertains your tiny powerless base but only alienates from voters you need not sure what this blog is it can’t be the defacto voice of Dems it will only reduce their chances like Billlie Sutton if swing voters take a peek. Time to look at bigger picture imo. Dark brown would have been so much better or even a weatherwood.

The Strib has a good article about women’s rage and how we’re going to play a major role in putting up those tombstones for Pootiepublicans. If you want to gain understanding of what’s going on with women, I highly recommend this article:

When I was young angry feminists were my heros they just weren’t gonna put up with it anymore and would speak their mind. They wanted and expected equality but today’s third wave feminists or whatever they are called are a big joke, political correctness above any objective evaluation of what is going on today.

How can people be happy with wingnuts when they have never known anything else? They just imagine they are happy. The state could be much better for all with a change in political scenery. 40 years of graft, corruption and one party rule is enough to give Mt Rushmore ulcers.

  7. happy camper 2018-10-07 18:38

Ha ha ha like Democrats are free of corruption remember the DNC and how they screwed over Sanders if you’re regional and have never lived anywhere else it’s just the grass is greener. South Dakota is very Libertarian in some ways, yet too religious, too conformist in others. Offer them something better or quit complaining.

One of the best things about today’s feminists is that we are a combination of 2nd, 3rd and 4th waves and don’t give a rat’s ass what anyone thinks of us. It’s irrelevant if others thinks we’re too PC, too loud, too aggressive, too masculine, too strident, too angry, too hysterical . . . . .

Those are all buzz words used historically and presently to try to shame and silence women. They’ve been successful too, and there are still too many women who fall in line when they hear that. But not most of us.

The biggest difference in this movement is that it’s big. I mean BIG. It’s not just middle class white women. It’s POC, immigrants, children, poor, etc. That’s what the disdainful “too PC” is a reaction too. Fine.
We. Don’t. Care. We’re not searching for anyone’s approval. Except our own.

    Debbo,

Please explain to the Women who have sons, husbands, and Fathers how you think guilty until proven innocent is the way it should be?

You do realize that your party just pissed off a lot of women with that thinking.

Btw, You’re not very intelligent because of what you just did.

Oh my god. Look at this. It makes me sick to my stomach and tearful. This is horrendous.

Debbo represents the Democrat party in South Dakota. Guilty until proven innocent.

Are you going to put that on your signs Cory?

What did the Dems and Sanders have to do with HC in South Dakota? Your state is a cesspool of corruption and has been. Clean up your own backyard first if you are miserable living in the wingnut filth.

And, HC, you can get a shingles vaccination if it bothers you that much.

Dan, that’s a Barnett property? Cool! It is one of my favorite little houses in town, really distinct with those stone walls. Do you know when it was built?

  17. DR 2018-10-09 08:47

I do not know the specifics of it. I am curious on what the inside looks like.
