I need to shut off Facebook. It tries too hard to dominate my mind with its response-time rat lever (and doesn’t even give me a nice crunchy rat pellet).
However, every now and then, Facebook provides a gauge of the community’s habits:
This search of three groups dedicated to discussing Aberdeen shows where the real draw is in social media “conversation” about our fair city. “Aberdeen rants and raves” has 4,288 members. “Aberdeen Raves No Rants” has 132 members. “Ubiquitous Aberdeen: Rants, Raves & Philosophy” has 341 members.
Take away the rants, and Facebook interest drops 97%. Keep the rants but add philosophy, and Facebook interest drops 92%.
That 92% consists largely of Dennis Daugaard voters.
