Brown County Dems Grandly Open Downtown HQ Wednesday

While the Brown County Republicans are holed away in a strip-mall shack behind Jimmy John’s, the Brown County Democrats are getting out the word (and, starting on September 21, the vote!) in our new, big, beautiful office at 220 South Main Street. You can come tour the office, collect some political decorations for your yard, and sign up to help Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 at the party HQ grand opening. You can also take a quick video tour, posted by our ambitious campaign office coordinator Liz Docter during last Thursday’s Downtown Wine Walk:

Compare that spacious and prominent campaign space with the GOP’s cramped (like their political philosophy) strip-mall HQ:

Give me Main Street over any other location in town! On top of everything else, Dems are just a few steps away from Red Rooster. Yum!

Win or lose Cory, the Dems are going to be the minority party in Pierre. How do you propose getting your policy ideas passed when you have insulted just about every republican that is elected in Pierre right now. Not to mention, how do you propose getting elected when you have insulted just about every republican in Dist 3.

    Asking for a friend….

If republicans are insulted, then they have not been paying attention to the very things in Aberdeen that should be offensive, like EB5 for one, look out your window or do a drive by to see what a real insult is. The Gear up for another. Republicans should be ashamed at their complete lack of law and order and decency as well. Tell your friend to sober the hell up and look at the landscape we have been saddled with.

  3. DR, you appear to be mistaken. I have not insulted anywhere close to “every Republican” in Pierre or in District 3. I have offered stern, fact-based criticism of the District 3 incumbent, criticism that no one has factually rebutted (taking false offense is not the same as rebutting an argument).

I will work with people in Pierre by doing what I expect high school debaters and every other citizen to do: learn to take honest criticism constructively instead of personally, put aside petty personal beefs, and work for the greater good. I’m willing, ready, and able to do that; are you? Are Republican leaders?

Being firm, but, fair must be insulting to wingnuts. Who knew?

Elected Republicans and Republican voters are drawn to the FreePress because of the insults. Entertainment is hard to come by. Most of their new ideas come from the liberal posts here. Being Dakota Contrary is becoming passe’. The Catholic Blog’s 21% of voters and readers are little more than vacant and “anonymous”. Pierre is worse.

Thats a nice space for the Democrats. Good!

Actually, You and Adam insulted every South Dakotan by calling them unintelligent on your blog.

    Did you forget about that?

  9. OldSarg

I think you could win and I think you are smart enough to do a good job but the hatred for anyone who thinks differently than you needs to go to the wayside.

Seriously Cory, as someone who votes republican, in my opinion you are coming across as insulting to the majority of us. This is what I was speaking of when I identify the beliefs of the DNC with the state party. same, same. The viral hatred being cast at the majority of Americans, calling us racist, stupid for believing in our God, your support for the killing of children and the endorsement of amoral behavior is not a turn on. . . Hard way to earn votes, in my opinion. . .

Cory, do you know any significance of this office?

  11. grudznick

Actually, Mr. Novstrup’s personality flaws notwithstanding, nor Mr. H’s as well, Mr. H goes out of his way to insult Mr. Novstrup and apply his nit-picking to every little thing, and then uses his considerable debating skills to word things in a backhanded slappy way.

This is why he will not get elected. grudznick has called the race.

  12. grudznick

Side note, I see Mr. Sutton mailed me a card today. He never once mentions he’s the Democrat Candidate. I wonder why that is.

  13. Darin Larson

    Grudz,

Why would Mr. Sutton say he’s the “Democrat Candidate” when he’s actually the “Democratic candidate?” Are you suggesting he start a new political party called the Democrat party?

Followup: Is Kristi Noem the “Republic candidate” in your eyes?

  14. Porter Lansing

Grudz … Living in a bigger state, I get a mailbox full of glossy, expensive, full sheet, double sided political ads daily. After you started squawking like a bald hen, I made a note to look. No ads from either political partyโ€™s candidates mention political party affiliation. Itโ€™s not done anymore, anywhere by any valid โ€œperson of the peopleโ€ Keep up …

  15. grudznick

Yes, the candidate for the Republic Party.

Mr. Lansing, since I got another of your goats, what is this bald hen of which you cook?

    Read this web page: http://coryheidelberger.com/

    “Democrat for Senate”

    grudznick wins again

  16. grudznick

Apparently, Mr. H, according to Mr. Lansing you are not a “valid person of the people.” A terrible shame, indeed.

But grudznick still loves you, in a manly sort of way. And I really like your new haircut.

  17. Debbo

I get many political ads too, via USPS and email, and often the political party name is omitted or hard to find.

  18. Darin Larson

    Grudz,

Here’s a cheat sheet for you:

    Correct:
    Democrat for Senate
    Democratic candidate
    Democratic Party

    Incorrect:
    Democratic for Senate
    Democrat candidate
    Democrat Party

I know it’s all very confusing!

  19. grudznick

Mr. Sutton is ashamed, Mr. H is proud. I’m just sayin…

  20. Porter Lansing

We like socialist progressive liberal. That gets your goat, faster than Democratic Democrats. HEH heh HO

  21. Jason

    You forgot Fascist Porter.

  22. grudznick

Mr. H is a proud Democrat, and I can respect him for that. In fact, I do.

  23. DR: do I “know any significance of this office?”

I’m afraid the question is unclear. Are you referring to the significance of having a party office?

  24. Are you referring to the possibility that we should sweep the building for bugs left by the previous owner or realtor?

  25. Jason

    Cory,

Fascism (/หˆfรฆสƒษชzษ™m/) is a form of radical authoritarian ultranationalism,[1][2][3][4] characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and strong regimentation of society and of the economy,[5] which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe

    1. Dictatorial power. Obama has the covered. Most were able to be undone though.

    2. Big Tech and the MSM have that covered. Obamacare has the economy part of that.

Why haven’t you told District 3 your thoughts on the FBI scandal?

  26. Porter Lansing

Thereโ€™s no Sharia Law anywhere in the world.

  27. DR

That is correct, your opponent was the previous owner but there is more significance to the building. This was the VICTORY office for the GOP back in 2004 where Jason Williams and the great Dana Randall helped lead John Thune to victory….

Nothing big, just a little political history.

  28. DR

That basement was FULL of political signs at one point.

  29. Ah, that’s the history I was missing! Thanks, DR!

Now I’m trying to figure out if I want Thune’s success to rub off on us, or if we should seek a cleaner, better form of victory.
