Photos: Blogging from Custer Peak

Last updated on 2024-11-03

Not that one really needs signal in the Black Hills, but if you absolutely positively have to pump out a blog post or three while tromping around the Paha Sapa, go high: I’m getting three bars here on Custer Peak:

Can you see Bear Butte?

Purple rain. Honest-to-goodness purple rain, off toward Whitewood and St. Onge.

Probably blasphemous to have a computer on the mountaintop....

A little mouse living here at the peak really hopes I'll spill some Walmart emergency ration and Tang.

Thanks for the inspiring images. Beats the parking lot and storm water holding pond out my office window.

Oh man! That is super beautiful! Perfect timing to see as I will be out there next week for a week. Love seeing the hills so green. Yes, thanks for sharing!

Should we start a project to re-name Custer Pk?

Cory, come on over tomorrow. All my siblings will be here from around the country. Lasagna, salad and cocktail Sauce!

    Very good photos Cory. Thanks.

I’ve been on top of Custer Peak too, and enjoyed those views. That was in the early 90s. I took several photos with my trusty Nikon EM film SLR. That was a wonderful camera that finally wore out after 30 years and 1000s of photos.

I think the elevation is about 6000 ft. Do you know? You’re really making me miss the Hills!

6,804 according to my map, Debbo.

Whoa! That’s pretty high. Thanks Curt.

Maybe there is something in life other than miles of corn and bean fields, but since they are what I know best, that ground looks a bit rocky for modern agricultural practices. Hills could be a problem for tractor brakes as well.

    Buena vista nevertheless.

  10. Thanks for the invite, OldSarg, but I had to hurry back to the flat side of the state. Maybe next time!
