While legislation (SB 58) amending our tax increment finance laws languishes in the House, Governor Dennis Daugaard will be zooming out Tuesday to celebrate South Dakota’s latest TIF district in Lake Norden:
The Governor’s Office refers to Agropur’s Announcement Celebration as a “ceremonial groundbreaking”… which is funny, since all sorts of ground was broken way back in December at the Lake Norden cheese factory:
Agropur abviously doesn’t need the Governor to turn any dirt any more than the need the tax increment financing that the Hamlin County Commission approved at its February 20 meeting. But at least the Lake Norden event gives the Governor a quick out from the State Tribal Listening Session he’s welcoming at the Pierre Red Rossa tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.
I’m still amazed at the name “Agropur.” Why would anybody give a company a name that looks like it’s pronounced “A Groper”?

This is interesting and shows what America can do with a smart Potus, one with a vision, unlike the mangled apricot ensconced in the WH today.

Maybe Daugaard can help console widows of suicided dairy farmers around the country.
