Jackley in Aberdeen Today; Krebs Visits Monday

Two statewide candidates are visiting Aberdeen in the next few days.

Attorney General Marty Jackley

The Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce is hosting gubernatorial candidate Marty Jackley this morning at 11 a.m. at the Best Western Ramkota out on the northwestern fringe of the city on 8th Ave. NW. The event is tagged as a discussion about the governor’s race, but expect our Attorney General to also push his new package of get-tough-on-meth legislation (plus afterthoughts on data breaches, human trafficking, and sex offenders). The Jackley event is free and open to the public.

Then on Monday, the Brown County Republicans are having U.S. House candidate Shantel Krebs over for lunch at Mavericks on the east side of town, across from Target. My GOP neighbors usually do their monthly Reagan Lunch on Wednesdays, but I would imagine Secretary Krebs wanted to squeeze in a visit before Session starts on Tuesday in Pierre. Still, Monday will be another day that Krebs won’t be in the Secretary of State’s office counting signatures on (as of end of business yesterday) seven still pending ballot initiative petitions. I think Mavericks will let you sit in on Krebs’s speech for free, although the feed trough they lay out for lunch is pretty good.

The Aberdeen Chamber promises forums (fora!) with Jackley’s main challengers, Kristi Noem and Billie Sutton. The Brown County GOP hosted Krebs’s GOP primary opponent, Dusty Johnson, back in November (full video available on their Facebook page).
