The Aberdeen American News posts some encouragement for South Dakotans who want to refer the new youth minimum wage to a public vote:
The paper’s unscientific poll gets 61% of respondents to say that paying teenagers less for their labor than adults, not to mention unraveling a couple threads of the voters’ will, is a bad idea.
Let’s see… 61% of 202 clicks… 123 people… that’s six full petition sheets and the start of a seventh. Get each of those respondents to round up ten friends to sign, and we’ve got about 10% of the minimum signature count, just from readers of the Aberdeen daily and neighbors of District 3 Senator David Novstrup, who brought us this bad legislation.
Stay tuned for the petition copies and circulation details, coming up later this weekend!
