Pence to Promote Corporate Christian Theocracy

Al Novstrup still hasn’t recanted or apologized for his wild lie about Sharia law in America (there isn’t). But his men in the White House may bring us the Sharia for Jesus that Al sneakily craves:

Trump is a Trojan horse for a cabal of vicious zealots who have long craved an extremist Christian theocracy, and Pence is one of its most prized warriors. With Republican control of the House and Senate and the prospect of dramatically and decisively tilting the balance of the Supreme Court to the far right, the incoming administration will have a real shot at bringing the fire and brimstone of the second coming to Washington.

“The enemy, to them, is secularism. They want a God-led government. That’s the only legitimate government,” contends Jeff Sharlet, author of two books on the radical religious right, including “The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power.” “So when they speak of business, they’re speaking not of something separate from God, but they’re speaking of what, in Mike Pence’s circles, would be called biblical capitalism, the idea that this economic system is God-ordained” [Jeremy Scahill, “Mike Pence Will Be the Most Powerful Christian Supremacist in U.S. History,” The Intercept, 2016.11.15].

As a bonus on the tyranny watch, Scahill notes that one of theocrat Pence’s biggest backers is Erik Prince, founder of private security firm Blackwater. Prince’s sister is Betsy DeVos, Trump’s public-education-wrecking pick for Secretary of Education. That’s not merely a small-world tangent; destroying public education is key to subjecting more young people to the unchecked Christian-corporate dogma that would prop up the theocracy Mike Pence and Al Novstrup want.

Theocracy is a danger, but it’s not those darned Muslim immigrants bringing it to our shores. It’s those nice Christian fellows like Al and Mike who would have the state bring us all to our knees.

The one thing about Christian theocracy that should be noted. It is against Catholics as well as Muslims and Jews. I am thinking Mormons may face the same fate. In a sense, it is kind of a reversal from the Inquisition, with Evangelicals being the clergy handing out the burning at the stake instead of priests. The fires will probably be kept burning with the fuel of history books, courtesy from Amway distributors like Tom DeLay (The Hammer).

Here is what America has come to in a few short weeks-
Security experts close to Yr. Wonkette inform us they are hopeful President Trump will begin to pay closer attention to the briefings after he’s been in office a few weeks and the novelty of making his office chair go up and down begins to wear off.

Drumpf has skipped all briefings. Pence has not, but he will be running things anyway.

I read one of Jeff Sharlet’s books a few years ago. I was blown away to see our Senator Thune mentioned early in the book as a regular visitor at “the house on C Street” and participant in Bible studies there. It sounded lovely until I read more to gain a real understanding of their philosophy. Very frightening in my estimation. I tend to think Jesus would throw these guys out of the temple!

I wonder how many of them believe that Trump is the antichrist and welcome him as the one who will bring about armageddon/the second coming of Christ/the rapture? Are the end times upon us? What say you, Creflo Dollar? What say you, Franklin Graham? What say you, Benny Hinn? Praise the Lord and pass the offering plate!

Which Christianity? The one in Iceland, which still has a state religion, that burned Catholics for firewood a few centuries ago? The one in the South, which virtually ignored Civil Rights and MLK in the Birmingham jail? Or the hateful ones squawking in tongues with Clinton’s defeat or those advocating crusades? Or the one advocating for co-pays and cost-shares for Medicare? Or the one advocating to round up illegals and refuse entry to new immigrants? Or the one advocating for tax cuts for the wealthiest Romans?

‘Perfect’ – in your best SNL church lady voice. ‘Mikey Pence will choose your religion while Donald Trump will chose your free speech. US Constitution, rest in peace.’

The problem with a Theocracy is every one want to be THEO!
