Ravnsborg Brings Ballot Measure Roadshow to Spearfish July 5

Now appearing on bulletin boards around Spearfish—Jason Ravnsborg!

The man who couldn’t beat Annette Bosworth is out demonstrating his attorney generalesque ‘splainification with a new roadshow on the 2016 ballot measures. Voters can hope Ravnsborg has a clearer grasp of the ballot measures than he demonstrated of Islam and ISIS in his last summer speaking tour.

I am pleased to see Ravnsborg making an effort to educate voters on these ten important ballot measures and honestly helping voters figure out how they want to exercise their sacred right to direct democracy through initiative and referendum. I hope he will bring his show to Aberdeen, the birthplace of South Dakota’s initiative and referendum, so I can record and share his presentation online and compare his assessment of the ballot measures with mine.

And I strongly hope that the good counsel from Yankton will show a more robust and intellectual grasp of our ballot measures than our Governor’s lazy position of “vote no on everything but the one my rich buddies like.”

None of the people there who are still alive in 2 years will remember his name.

All this is is one person’s opinion. It’s really not a good way to educate folks. A far better way is to have the pro and con sides explain and debate the issue.

The purpose isn’t to educate anyone. It’s twofold:

    1) Advocate for a political viewpoint; and
    2) Keep his name fresh in people’s minds because the guy clearly has continuing political aspirations.

This is pretty “meh” to me.

The information Ravnsborg is offering on these ballot issues is dicta.

He is going to spear fish with a ballot measure roadshow. How is that even possible? Or legal?

“The information Ravnsborg is offering on these ballot issues is dicta.”

    Oh, you tricky bastard.

Master made a funny and it went clear over my head ( until I looked it up).

Is his nickname the Borg? “Resistance is futile. You must assimilate.”

Unlikely, Darin. The Borg are much harder to beat and adapt much more quickly.

Donald, I’m eager to find out Ravnsborg’s positions. If it turns out he’s opposite me on enough of the measures, I’ll invite him to Aberdeen so we can put on the Pro/Con debate that you say would better enlighten the public.

Ravnsborg’s twitter feed is a swamp fever of over the top, Trump-centric non-sense. Pretty easy to guess what his positions will be on the various ballot measures.

I have e-mailed Ravnsborg for a summary of his positions. Pending that response or a report from my Spearfish correspondent on his Tuesday presentation, let’s guess:

    • RL19: yes, to stroke the Republicans who passed it.
    • RL20: yes, see above, and to support undermining the anti-free market minimum wage.
    • IM21: no, free market.
    • IM22: no, GOP.
    • IM23: no, anti-labor.
    • AmR: yes, Governor says so.
    • AmS: no, listening to bar assoc.
    • AmT: no, GOP benefits from gerrymandering
    • AmU: no, voting No on IM21 is enough
    • AmV: no, because he’d rather come in fifth in a GOP primary than ninth in a free-for-all primary
