The dissenting faction of Sioux Falls Democrats who occasionally socialize on Friday evenings under the banner of “Drinking Liberally” joins the list of pragmatic patriots bucking the party leadership’s official and awkward agnosticism and endorsing independent Brian Bengs for U.S. Senate:
Julian Beaudion has accepted the paucity of resources and organization the SDDP has and withdrawn from the US Senate race. Julian is rightfully angry at the lack of support he received from the SDDP and fellow Democrats, but the current scapegoating by Julian and some of his supporters is counterproductive. It is time to embrace Brian Bengs’ Independent candidacy. Brian now has a real opportunity to hold our Republican incumbent Senator accountable for his unfettered support of Donald Trump and Trump’s grift and corruption. Brian is a good and thoughtful man, able to hold his own against our incumbent Senator and the Republican money-driven reelection machinery. After all, Brian was the SDDP’s candidate for the U.S. Senate in [2022] and represented the Democratic Party well despite the aforementioned shortcomings of the SDDP itself. We have no time for scapegoating induced by the bitterness of failure. We need to take back the Senate and stop Donald Trump’s destruction of farms and ranches, longstanding trade and security alliances, and the Constitution and the rule of law. Vote Mike Rounds out; vote Brian Bengs in.
