Jackley Taps Non-Prosecutor LaMie to Join AG’s Office

After properly declining to investigate Senators for punishing Julie Frye-Mueller for Boobgate and improperly shielding Governor Kristi Noem from prosecution for misusing the state plane, Hughes County State’s Attorney gets her comeuppance… in the form of Marty Jackley saying, Come on up to the Attorney General’s office!

Hughes County State’s Attorney Jessica LaMie will join the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office June 9 as an assistant attorney general for the Consumer Protection Division, according to Attorney General Marty Jackley.

“Protecting South Dakota consumers has been a priority since taking office in January,” said Attorney General Jackley.

LaMie began her legal career at the South Dakota Legislative Research Council in Pierre. She served as the Hughes County Chief Deputy State’s Attorney from April, 2018 until November, 2020 when she was appointed as State’s Attorney. She was elected to fulfill the current term in November, 2022 [Office of the Attorney General, press release, 2023.05.16].

Another Jackley recruit from the state’s attorney ranks, Alexis Tracy from Clay County, starts as an assistant AG on June 1. Tracy got her promotion thanks to putting the screws to lying killer Jason Ravnsborg in his impeachment trial last summer, while LaMie has distinguished herself by not throwing the book at South Dakota’s powerful elites. Consumers may thus count on her protection as long as those who trespass against them are not named Noem, Schoenbeck, Novstrup….

  1. Alexis Tracy from Clay County. Sounds like a liberal to me.

  2. I still think the Dems not running a candidate against Jackboots was one of the dumbest decisions they made in a long time. Would have loved to hear the deal they cut with Marty. All you had to do was bring up the sexual harassment suit, EB-5 and Gear Up and Jackley would have been beatable.

Don’t know a lawyer who is a Democrat who can raise 2 million dollars (which is about what it would take) to run a state wide race for Attorney General. Plus you have to be motivated to work and live in Pierre for four years, at the minimum. A fool’s errand.
