Wyoming Ed Chief: Escape Sexual Tyranny! Reject Federal School Lunch Money!

A month ago, Governor Kristi Noem staged a childish freak-out over the USDA’s adherence to anti-discrimination criteria established by the Gorsuch Court in 2018. USDA said schools taking advantage of federal funding for school lunches need to prevent discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation. Governor Noem said USDA is threatening to take away kids’ food and make little girls compete against boys.

As I pointed out in June, Noem is flatly lying. South Dakota isn’t obliged to do anything the USDA says, just as South Dakota is not obliged to take one red cent from Uncle Sam. If Noem really feels the USDA’s anti-discrimination rules are tyranny, Noem can easily escape that tyranny by following Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction Brian Schroeder’s plan to have Wyoming pay for its own school lunches:

Wyoming Superintendent Brian Schroeder said in a press release on Wednesday that the Wyoming Department of Education will not comply with the new non-discrimination policies under the Biden administration.

“We categorically reject gender ideology and will not bow to the coercive will of a bully government,” Schroeder said.

Schroeder said he has consulted Wyoming Treasurer Curt Meier and other state leaders and has been told the state has the money to pay for school lunches if the federal money is withheld. The superintendent also noted the Wyoming Constitution requires the legislature to fund public schools.

“We can cut ties with these federal lunch dollars and still provide for Wyoming kids — it only requires two things: the will of the Wyoming people, and the determination of Wyoming’s governing leaders,” Schroeder said. “If we don’t fight this, we enable it” [Brendan Lachance, “Wyoming Superintendent Willing to Risk Losing ~$40M in Federal Money for School Lunches,” Oil City News, 2022.06.22].

See, Kristi? You can take a brave stand against the Biden Administration. You just have to be willing to put South Dakota’s money where your mouth is.

Alas for honest, committed conservatives, Schroeder’s call for turning back federal dollars seems to be more of a campaign ploy than real action. The Wyoming Department of Education has stated that Superintendent Schroeder does not have the statutory authority to withdraw the state from the USDA school lunch program. However, Wyoming’s local school districts may decline federal school lunch funding.

Red state whiners and leaches will not leave a penny of federal dollars on the table. Follow the money to find their “morals”.

Can’t wait to see all the Red States reject federal money. Remind me again which states are providers and which are leaches…

All this talk is just so much nonsense and posturing. Transgender males taking positions on athletic teams from females just doesn’t happen…extremely rare…while females taking positions on male teams is becoming commonplace in football (Placekickers) and Wrestling (the 98 and 103 pound divisions most commonly). As girls mature faster than boys, girls wrestling and winning in the lighter divisions is very common in youth and AAU wrestling. Nobody bats an eye, and we certainly haven’t heard the Governor complain and file federal suits over that phenomena. Good for the girls!!! Let the High School Activities Association referee eligibility questions…keep the dim witted politicians out of high school sports.

Don’t forget the billboards, Mr. Anderson. They caved to the billboards having to be a quarter of a league off the highways, too. You are forgetting the caving to the billboards. Happy 4th of July, Independence Day, and grudznick remembrance morning!
