This letter is asinine. First the amount of abortions on rape victims is 0.3% of the all abortions. The abortion dose not help the women get over the rape according to the national board of Psychology . There is next to no women who would seek the death penalty for their rapist , so why kill a truly Innocent human because of rape? Why should a women be able to use murder to justify a womens bad choice. I believe a women has the right to choose but also has the responsibility of her choice.

  2. The letter is not “asinine”. It is a well-reasoned look at the full implications of anti-abortion absolutism in the broader context of Noem’s lack of real caring mothers and families. Smith does not claim anything about the frequency of rape; Smith does not say abortion “helps the women get over the rape”.

And your claim that abortion is “murder” has no basis in even the language of the law or Noem herself. Noem and the GOP obviously do not believe abortion is murder because they do not propose the same penalties for abortion, up to and including the death penalty, that they propose for actual murder.
