Governor Kristi Noem got her first coronavirus vaccine yesterday! She even wore a mask and used an exclamation point… though strangely, the camera-friendly politician did not turn her face toward the camera:
Notice that she puts her exclamation point on the agentless statement, “Vaccines are now available…!” but not on the statement of her own responsible action. She still can’t bring herself to directly urge South Dakotans to action against the pandemic. Come on, Kristi, it’s just three words: GET YOUR SHOTS!!!
Noem spent the day before her shot snoozling masklessly up close to as many other people’s kids as she could at her Pierre mansion during her big Easter egg hunt. Sure outdoor transmission is rare, and kids have been a low-risk group for coronavirus… but up to 43,000 American kids have lost parents due to the pandemic. That grim death toll may make shouting seem impolite… but let’s protect our kids from more grief: GET YOUR SHOTS.
In far more trivial matters, coronavirus is still keeping kids from playing football. USD and SDSU have had to cancel their April 10 football game due to covid-19 cases among USD’s cadre of players, coaches, managers, and staff. That’s the third spring game each team has had to nix due to coronavirus. (Who thought football in the spring was a good idea, anyway? Go play some baseball, or take a nice socially distanced run in the Brookings Dakota Nature Park!) Maybe the Coyotes and Jackrabbits not currently in quarantine could all make appointments for their shots, show up at the clinic in their game jerseys, and do their own pro-shot PSA: GET YOUR SHOTS SO WE CAN PLAY BALL!
Well, New Zealand and Australia will be having travel between their countries open up. 30 million people and 26 died in New Zealand and 909 in Australia. They had covid leadership in their two countries. Meanwhile in America the pubs mucked it up everywhere in the name of freedom. I guess they thought the move toward herd immunity would work, very Swedish of them, Grudz sure bought into that one. Keep the masks on for another month folks and you won’t be killing anyone, anymore, sorry pubs. By the way pubs, get your shots, you can’t be that stupid can you?
For those who refuse the shots, I view it as “thinning the herd” rather than “herd immunity”.
