Biden Promises to Let Justice Department Do Its Job

In today’s installment of Intelligent Things Our Next President Says, Vice-President Joe Biden says he will neither push nor block prosecution of the putrescent criminal he will succeed:

Look, the Justice Department is not the president’s private law firm. The attorney general is not the president’s private lawyer. I will not interfere with the Justice Department’s judgment of whether or not they think they should pursue the prosecution of anyone that they think has violated the law [Joe Biden, quoted in Barbara Sprunt, “Biden Says He Wouldn’t Stand in the Way of a Trump Prosecution,” NPR, 2020.08.06].

Biden doesn’t use angry language. He doesn’t make a direct personal attack. He doesn’t accuse anyone of any crime. Biden enunciates a simple, general governing principle: the President should not influence prosecutions. The Justice Department should do its job. Government should operate by the rule of law, not the whims of an autocratic, ax-grinding executive.

How very Presidential.

Now, who will the AG be? If she’s not the VP, I’d like to suggest Sen. Kamala Harris. Bulldog tough and wicked smart.

Mr. H, you are righter than right that Mr. Biden does not engage in direct, personal attacks. He is from Delaware, which must be a more polite out-of-state place than many. You know grudznick dislikes Mr. Trump very, very much, and I am trying to wrap my maw around being able to stomach Mr. Biden. Why can’t we just find qualified people to run for the President? I only fear Mr. Biden loosing his marbles, as he is not as stable as grudznick be seems more stable than many.

Sally Yates rules man. Tougher and knows the ropes ..way tougher. The weak little bed wetting republican senators get all shaky when she’s in the room.

  4. Biden will choose for Attorney General, as he will choose for every executively appointed position, someone who shares his belief in the rule of law and who possesses the ability to do the job.

Now if we can just convince a majority of Americans in states worth a majority of Electoral College votes to choose their President by those same criteria, we’ll be in good shape.

Speaking of naughty guys, I mailed in absentee ballot application yesterday just to spit in drumpf’s ugly fizz. The Feds will be hot on my trail, soon, I am certain.

Don’t belittle yourself, Mr. mike. You might be an out-of-state name-caller, but by golly you’re almost good enough, you’re nearly smart enough, and doggone it, there are probably some people in Iowa who like you.
