Big Petitioning at Sioux Empire Fair: Join Us for Democracy!

Sure, I’m taking the state to court to reform our ballot question petition rules, but we have lots of good changes to make at the ballot box as well!

SD Voice: Speak up for your rights!
Help us speak up for your rights at the Sioux Empire Fair!

SD Voice will have a petition booth at the Sioux Empire Fair, which kicks off Friday with the Keith Urban concert (Urban—that’s a rap act, right) and runs through Sunday, August 10. That’s nine big days of collecting signatures for the People Power Petition, our effort to repeal a lot fo the paperwork and bureaucracy our overreaching Legislature is using to stifle your right to vote on the laws under which you live.

Hmm… the Sioux Empire Fair says it gets 280,000 to 320,000 attendees each year. Over nine days, that would be an average of 33,000 people a day. If just one out of fifteen attendees each day will drop by our booth and sign our petition, we’ll have all the signatures we need to put the People Power Initiative on the 2020 ballot. Circulators—come help us get those signatures!

If you’d like to carry a petition at the fair and spend a couple hours collecting signatures from your friends and fair-going neighbors, give me a shout, tell me what day (or days!) you’d like to help at the Fair, and I’ll have all the papers you need waiting for you at our booth.

Come to the Fair, and do good for democracy!

    Best of luck.

  2. Thanks, Debbo! In this case, luck means nine straight sunny days when citizens will flock to the fair relish the opportunity to talk politics for a few minutes and put their names on a petition that will give them a chance to be the captains of their democracy.
