When you get done crackerbarreling Saturday morning, head over to Brookings in the afternoon to see a forum of candidates who want to chair the South Dakota Democratic Party.
The Brookings County Democrats are hosting a forum for the candidates Saturday at the Brookings Public Library from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Brookings Dems list five candidates in attendance: incumbent chair Ann Tornberg, Paula Hawks, John Cunningham, Tom Cool, and 19th-most prolific DFP commenter in 2018 John Kennedy Claussen. However, I’m told the Brookings Dems may need to set out a sixth chair for Sisseton Democrat Allison Renville, who lost to Susan Wismer in the District 1 Senate primary last June and may now want to lead Wismer’s party.
Moderating Saturday’s forum will be former Democratic legislator Spence Hawley. The forum is free and open to the public.
Democrats will elect their chair March 23 in Oacoma.

All six candidates participated in the forum. Attendees had a good understanding what candidates’ plans were for the party if elected. Good questions, too. I live streamed the event on the Brookings County Democrats’s Facebook page. Like our page and watch the full event. Forgive the opening fumbles. My first live stream. Comment on the Facebook page with questions if you wish.
