Minnehaha County Republicans Celebrate Dishonest Sean Spicer

In the face of my popular critique of dishonest RINOs, local party chairman Dave Roetman and the Minnehaha County Trumpublican Party are doubling down on dishonesty. Their keynote speaker at their November 1 social will be the first man who trampled the dignity of the White House to lie for Donald Trump, former “press” secretary Sean Spicer:

Of eleven Spicer statements rated by Politifact during his brief and regrettable tenure in the White House, seven were less than “Half True.” Media Matters lists 14 objectively false statements (not political arguments or alternative hypotheses, but demonstrably nonfactual claims) that Spicer issued from the White House podium. In his first post-inauguration press harangue, Spicer told five lies in five minutes.

South Dakota Republicans celebrate this sort of dishonesty. We can expect them to continue to practice what Sean Spicer preached from the White House.

It really doesn’t matter to you who you call dishonest, racist or anything does it? At what point do you think, in your opinion, that the constant nasty worded attacks on “everyone” might work against you?

I guess I’m just not getting it Cory. . I actually thought you were somewhat willing to consider other views or opinions but maybe it’s just the election coming up that has you acting like this. I’m not getting it.

  2. Rorschach 2018-10-09 19:49

Yeah, for the law enforcement game feed they brought in G. Gordon Liddy, Oliver North and Joe Apraiao. The GOP Party is in love with people like this. Michael Flynn is next. The more you lie, cheat, steal or kill for the elephant, they more the elephant loves you. I’m beginning to wonder if there are any decent people left who identify with the GOP Party, or whether the crazies have driven out all of the decent folks. How can anyone in good conscience surrender their good conscience defending rampant lies, corruption and terrible governance?

“Baghdad Bob” must not have been available.

  5. OldSarg 2018-10-09 20:44

Guys, it doesn’t even matter the party. This is what the 17th Amendment did for us all. It separated the country down to “what party” as opposed to “country”. There are dishonest republicans and democrats. My point is: calling others nasty names does nothing to improve communications or the exchange of ideas. When political candidates decide that in order to win they must use nasty mean terms for their opponents they have lost the argument and soon the election. You can try and defend the attacks all day long but you are not even the bully. You are lemmings and I am not calling you a name. I am pitting out that instead of being part of the fix, you are part of the problem.

Do you school your fellow conservatives about civility, OldSarg? Did you hear them yelling Lock Her Up about Dianne Feinstein in Council Bluffs tonight? Did you hear Trump apologize to Kavanaugh on “behalf of the nation” while he ridiculed Dr. Ford at his rally just days ago? Your hypocrisy is appalling.

  7. RJ 2018-10-09 21:30

Perhaps, there was a time where kindness, intelligence and civil dialogue weren’t attributes of only one political party. There are candidates who represent the greater good. Corey is one of them. Theresa Robbins is another. Here’s the thing OS, people call you a racist because you say racist things. People call you a homophobe because you say offensive, ignorant things. You can stand on your pro-life pedestal and try to dictate who’s lives matter, but it’s irrelevant. I think it’s still possible to be a Republican and not be a total igorant jerk..wait..nope, not possible.

OS, do you deny that Sean Spicer told many lies while he was White House Press Secretary?

OS, do you praise Sean Spicer for telling those lies?

  9. Cory Allen Heidelberger Post author | 2018-10-09 22:57

Part of fixing a problem means identifying the problem. Electing an ignorant, deceitful man who hires deceitful people is a problem. It sounds nasty to call a person ignorant or deceitful… but it is more nasty to be ignorant, to be deceitful, and to honor people who exhibit those failings rather than correcting them.

  10. Debbo 2018-10-09 23:53

Ohferpetessake. The SDGOP scrapes droppings from the bottom of the barrel. Sean Sphincter. Ick.

  11. OldSarg 2018-10-10 05:12

Cory, that isn’t the point. You all sound like 13 year old school girls whining about phones. The point is to take a stand, like a man, and tell us who you are not what is wrong with everyone else. Stomping around, name calling and pouting because someone you don’t like is speaking is childish.

  12. Jason 2018-10-10 07:28

Deceitful would be not advertising in District 3 you are against the Trump tax cuts.

  13. Cory Allen Heidelberger Post author | 2018-10-10 07:38

No, OS and Jason, the point really is that Sean Spicer without restraint in the White House and the Minnehaha County GOP is celebrating his lies.

It is clear you choose not to deny the facts I report about Spicer’s lies. You are also endorsing the Minnehaha GOP’s celebration of his lies. Changing the topic does not change those facts.

  14. Jason 2018-10-10 07:53

    Cory,

Do you deny being deceitful to your District 3 Constituents?

Do you deny Obama and his press secretaries lied?

  15. mike from iowa 2018-10-10 08:21

    OldSwapmeetrag, are you Lakota?

It really doesn’t matter to you who you call dishonest, racist or anything does it? At what point do you think, in your opinion, that the constant nasty worded attacks on “everyone” might work against you?

Sounds like good advice, troll. Practice what you trol…..preach.

  16. Jenny 2018-10-10 08:28

You guys noticed that old Sarge never brags anymore about Kristi Noem toppling Billy Sutton in the election? Even Kristi admitted she’s in trouble.
Old Suds Used to say it was over before it even started!

  17. OldSarg 2018-10-10 08:44

Here jennifer, just for you: Noem will win. She can’t lose. The majority of voters (30%) vote republican and vote on the voting day. Sutton cannot overcome that wide of a margin. It is not statistically possible in a conservative state. I know it hurts but it’s just a fact. Once again; Sutton could have won if he had run as a republican but your party have decided to destroy yourselves. Please don’t break anymore nails scratching at the door of the SCOTUS.

mike, take your morning meds. Did you call the clinic? I gave you the contact information. I’ll say a prayer for you this morning.

  18. Jenny 2018-10-10 08:56

I wouldn’t be so sure OS. There are a lot of Registered Republicans that vote Democrat if they don’t like the GOP ticket And it sounds like there Are plenty of pubs that are sick of Kristi.

  19. OldSarg 2018-10-10 09:07

Actually Jennifer there are not a lot of registered republicans that would cross party lines in our state. As a matter of fact I don’t think you could name even one. This is a pretty red state. I would say the west side of the state even more so. i think what you and Cory and others hope for is somehow you can trash enough people that people will vote as you would want them to vote but around these parts being nasty to people doesn’t win you many friends. Now, I’m not saying you but based upon the tone of the articles here and the posts that follow there are some really angry leftist on this site. I’m all about peace in my heart and just like to be left alone and that is how the majority of folks in this state feel as well. We don’t want someone we don’t know telling us how we should think of others. We like to make our own judgments. This is also why you folks have lost so much lately. It looks like you and many others have decided if you call us names and yell at us we will better understand. . . yeah, that ain’t happening. . .

Trump is owned by billionaires. Spicer said Syria’s Assad was worse than Hitler so 2016 $80,000,000 donor got Spicer’s personal apology- Sheldon Adelson. Trump promised him a Jerusalem Embassy. Iran Nuclear agreement withdrawal. Japan Pres. Abe @ Trump Tower meeting w/Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands worth $10 B monopoly approval in Tokyo. Tax Giveaway Bill sculpted to $1 B benefit of Sands. Pro-War Bolton appointed because Shelly wants to nuke Iran. Wyatt is another casino billionaire.

OldSarg: “…You all sound like 13 year old school girls whining about phones. The point is to take a stand, like a man, and tell us who you are not what is wrong with everyone else. Stomping around, name calling and pouting because someone you don’t like is speaking is childish.”

Great. I’m prone to hyperbole, too, but maybe you need to rethink the “13-year-old girls” comment and your “like a man” clause.

But let’s take you for what you mean. I understand it. The thing is I see very little in Trump or many of his supporters that they are anything close to the men you seem to want. I would call Trump’s behavior more like that of a toddler than a 13 year old, and, let’s remember, 13 year olds were about the age of the victims of Trump-endorsed Roy Moore. All name-calling, blaming others, stomping around and pouting? Well, we have a president who doesn’t paint much of a role-model in this regard, do we?

Spicer, now there is a weak man, unwilling or unable to stand up to Trump’s bullying. Spicer came from Wisconsin, and here we have Scott Walker, who lies more like a choirboy than a real estate developer trying to unload some swamp property on you. In short, Spicer was in over his head in keeping the lies from swamping the canoe.

I had the honor of rearing a 13-year-old girl. At that age she whined about wanting some $50 gym shorts. We had a rather animated discussion about it at the Rushmore Mall, but ended up compromising on some hot pink $12 gym shorts. Trump, on the other hand, has threatened to shut down the government over Congress’s failure to pay for a border wall that Trump promised would be paid for by Mexico. Really, I think Trump should take some lessons from 13-year-old girls about how to behave. We’d all be better off.

  22. bearcreekbat 2018-10-10 13:24

Nice post Don. I agree with almost everything you wrote, except I think it a bit insulting to toddlers to be compared to Trump. After all, toddlers naturally mature and develop empathy for others as they grow from day to day. Perhaps inanimate analogies would be a bit less insulting to human beings, such as, to quote Juantia Jean Herownself today, “50 acres short of a cornfield,” or pehaps an intellectual comparison such as “would have to study up to become an imbecile.”

  23. RJ 2018-10-10 14:57

    Brilliant Don!

  24. Cory Allen Heidelberger Post author | 2018-10-10 21:33

Jason and OS can’t defend Spicer. Their only resort is to change the subject. My character is irrelevant to the proven falsehoods of Sean Spicer and the GOP’s celebration of that proven liar.
