Eight Early Voting Stations Opening Across South Dakota

Early voting has started! Head to your courthouse any regular business day between now and Election Day, cast your ballot, and get yourself off the phone and late-mailing lists of lots of campaigners!

In addition to our 64 courthouses (remember: Oglala Lakota and Todd counties don’t have courthouses and auditors of their own), South Dakota has eight satellite early voting stations. They don’t all offer the same 31 business days of walk-in early voting that our courthouses do, but they are better than nothing:

Pine Ridge, Hill City, and Wall get stations that offer their residents the same service folks near the courthouse get, 31 full days of early voting. Wanblee voters are shorted just one day. Mission and Fort Thompson voters get 12 days to vote early without driving to yonder courthouse. Spearfish voters get 11. Eagle Butte voters get 10.

That’s pretty good except for Spearfish and Eagle Butte. Is there bus service between Spf and Deadwood so people without transportation can get to the courthouse?

I recall some years ago the SDGOP trying real hard to diminish voting rights on the reservations by limiting opportunities. I think it had to do with HAVA funds and polling places. Didn’t the tribes or SDDP have to bring a lawsuit to remind the SDGOP that every state in the USA is a democracy?

Looks like Jordan Youngberg can start having the couple hundred non resistants of lake county with the my dakota address their vote again before they winterize there motor homes and head back to the place they really call home for the other 10 months of the year again 😐 leaving leaving the rest of us to deal with the self centered man child with a god complex again……
