Democratic/Progressive Events in Aberdeen All Weekend!

Hey, northeastern neighbors! If you can’t make the Bjorkman Rally in Sioux Falls Friday, we Democrats and our friends here in Brown County have a full weekend of fun, fundraising, and fighting for democracy that you can join here in Aberdeen.

Cory Allen Heidelberger, running for District 3 Senate
Running for office…

First, Friday evening, Betty Sheldon is hosting a house party for District 3’s next Senator—me! We’ll get together at Betty’s house at 411 11th Ave Southeast, just a little bit north of the NSU campus, for light refreshments and conversation about making South Dakota and America good again. I’ll also have my yard signs, since, hey! Friday is the first day we can put up our campaign signs within our restrictive city limits! So come have fun, drop some money in my campaign jar, and pick up a sign to proudly display in your yard!

Then Saturday, Brown County Progressives for Change will be registering voters for the big election. My progressive friends—not a branch of the Democratic Party by any means, as they are open to everybody and include some confirmed independents and at least one Libertarian—will have booths and voter registration forms at Ken’s SuperFair Foods, the Brass Kettle, and the Red Rooster. The voter registration drive starts at noon, so go for groceries, go for coffee, and get your name on the voter roll!

Finally, on Sunday, Billie Sutton’s running mate Michelle Lavallee is coming to speak at the Brown County Democratic Party’s big picnic at Centennial Village on the Brown County Fairgrounds. We’ll start serving lunch at 12:30. Lavallee will have the chance at 1 p.m. to tell our well-fed crowd (I think I heard pork and potato salad!) why she gave up Republicanism to back Billie Sutton as the best leader for South Dakota. Brown County Dems’ chair Jennifer Slaight-Hansen has released this statement: “Michelle represents the growing number of South Dakotans who want to get away from the corruption and broken promises of one-party rule and elect a Governor and Legislature who are willing to work across party lines for all South Dakotans.” Welcome to Aberdeen, Michelle!

And welcome to all who’d like to join us for any of these events this weekend. Get a sign, get registered to vote, get a sandwich and a speech from Michelle… but most importantly, get yourself good government again by backing Democrats on your ballot!

If you really want to “get away from the corruption,” then you should have fought IM22 in the courts and not accepted the Republicans waterdown alternative. And how can you “work across party lines,” when some don’t even seem to see the line to begin with?

    Sounds like a good time.
IS that your yard sign? I like it, but is it hard to read your name from a car driving by?

Do your light refreshments include more than the standard lemonade and finger sandwiches? Is there beer, besides hour usual Keystone Light? Mr. Novstrup, the younger, may attend and ask some hard questions of you and I want you to know he could be all pumped up on the Keystone Light.
