Tapio Gets Cash from Illinois Millionaire Who Backed Roy Moore

Dakota War College discusses Republican U.S. House candidate Neal Tapio’s meager first-quarter fundraising report. $7,555 in individual contributions, $12,000 spent just to keep Shad Olson off welfare… yeah, unimpressive.

Tapio’s itemized individual donations come from five people:

  • Dave Assman, Mission, SD: $500.
  • Sharon Fuhrmann, Aberdeen, SD: $1,000.
  • Michael Goodhope, Rapid City, SD: $250.
  • George Holborn, Gary, SD: $1,000.
  • Paul Meyers, Aberdeen, SD: $1,000.
  • Richard Uihlein, Lake Forest, IL: $2,700.

I am embarrassed that more than half of Tapio’s South Dakota funds have come from my fair city.

Neal Tapio should be embarrassed that his one big out-of-state backer, far-right millionaire Richard Uihlein, was a top donor for Roy Moore in Alabama. In 2016, Uihlein spent seven figures trying to deny Donald Trump the GOP nomination. Uihlein then gave in and put money behind a Trump PAC and the poorly attended Trump inauguration. As of mid-March, Uihlein and his wife Elizabeth had given $21 million to Republicans like Tapio trying to emulate Trump.

Shad Olson knows a sucker when he sees one.

    Cory,

Your post fails to mention the out of State money that went to Democrats in SD.

  3. Roger Cornelius

This post is about a republican candidate, not a Democratic one.

This post also doesn’t say anything about Krebs or Dusty Johnson’s campaign finances.

    Roger,

    Your name isn’t Cory.

You don’t make the rules on Cory’s blog, I’ll make a comment anytime I feel like it, you know that 1st Amendment thing.
If you object to someone responding to a post of yours, it’s simple, don’t post.

Bah Zing Roger! Exactly, just because you put a name on there does not mean that it is a closed discussion. This ain’t high school Jason..or maybe it actually is to you.

    Elementary school.

    Roger,

    I didn’t say you couldn’t post.

I just pointed out my question was to Cory since you have a reading comprehension problem.

  9. Jason, this post fails to mention all of the money that people who like Roy Moore have given to South Dakota Democrats.

    Cory,

I forgot to add a comment about the money democrats in SD have received from Weinstein supporters.

Let’s not forget all the hollywood money that went o kids protesting guns, but no money for kids protesting abortion.

You also failed to mention democrats (Soros) interfering in the Hungary elections.

Jason and whoever feels like responding to this comment.

When I want to have a private discussion I email him, knowing how busy Cory is, I don’t always expect a response.

Gosh darn it, Cory, your post fails to say anything about the bogus moon landing, why aren’t we talking about that? I’ll call Lalley and set up a time to debate you about your failure to discuss the bogus moon landing

With no effort to do so, Jason has emphasized the major problem with the two party system. Both parties are run by big money. Also that there are ONLY two parties that are viable.

Jason, did wingnutsn give back their contributions from their very own serial adulterer/sexual abuser named Drumpf?

    Pretty hypocritical if not.

  15. Roger Cornelius

Who screams the loudest about accepting out-of-state campaign donations or donations for initiatives, and still takes the donations anyway, republicans or Democrats?

  16. Jason, again, show me a Democrat who has received money from a Roy Moore donor, and you’ll have a relevant point… and I’ll raise serious questions about that Democrat’s fitness for office.

Show me a Democratic candidate for Congress who only has donations from five South Dakotans, and I’ll raise questions about that candidate’s viability. (Tim Bjorkman’s latest FEC data show 150 SD itemized donors.)
