Heidelberger Speaks to District 22 Democratic Forum in Huron Thursday!

Brand new day, brand new blog speech!

Dakota Free Press hits the road tomorrow! The District 22 Democratic Forum has invited me to speak at their noon lunch at the Huron Event Center attached to the Crossroads at 100 4th Street Southwest downtown.

The last time I spoke to the Beadle/Kingsbury Democrats, in May 2015, we were in the heat of a double-barreled referendum petition drive, so I spoke of referendum and democracy. This time I’ll look ahead to 2018 and lay out my thoughts on issues South Dakota Democrats can use to win. Right now my outline includes health care and election data security, plus maybe a bonus feature on neutralizing Islamophobia.

I’m open to suggestions—if there’s another topic you’d like me to work into my 20-minute oration, let me know here in the comment section. Or if you’re within driving distance, come have lunch with the District 22 Democrats in Huron and grill me during the question-and-answer period. I promise to be more fun and informative than Kristi Noem was in Rapid City today!

Could you work this speech into the weekly podcast?

Talk about how Mr. Mickelson is taking the Democratic platform of ignoring votes in the legislatures and taking his agenda straight to popular democracy to hammer home some of his personal agenda items. Mr. Mickelson knows darned well it is far easier to hoodwink ignorant voters who are easily confused than it is to foist his ideas on the legislatures, and he will do so easily. Talk about how this is a Democratic Idea being co-opted by the Republican Leaders.

So glad you can come a visit with us again!!!

  4. Porter, if my microphone works, it’s possible… although I have a really hard time when I’m on my feet staying within range of any one audio device. :-)

  5. Grudz, you are a wise-acre. Come to lunch and pose your thesis as a question, and I’ll respond.
