This week’s award for concise letter-writing goes to Missy Slaathaug of Pierre, who penned this missive in her Wednesday local paper:
Right on, Missy!
Senator Thune did speak to Washington High School government students and the POET board of directors yesterday. Senator Rounds did The Greg Belfrage Show, then spoke to the state bankers’ association in Pierre.
It is not always complicated, GO MISSY.
Maybe Senator Mitch McConnell has the answer to all of this. He was first elected to the Senate in 1984 in a race with then Senator Dee Huddleston, which McConnell was not suppose to win, but McConnell ran a very creative ad with bloodhounds and a narrative about how no one could find Senator Huddleston. This ad then led to McConnell’s very close and surprising victory. Perhaps, it is time we ran ads asking where are Senators Thune, Rounds, and Congresswoman Noem?

Thank you Missy, this is an important message that needed to be made. Hopefully, SDs DC three will hear it and do something about it.
So Thune met with a group from Washington High. He must have had a scheduling conflict and missed his Jr. High meeting? BTW, did anyone get any info on how the meeting with his GRADE SCHOOL constituents went?
Well put Missy. (Bias alert). Our Reps have discovered the “importance of not being seen” (Montey Python).
I allow bias in the comment section, just as I allow it in my posts. :-)
For those interested in some protest theater, some citizens appear to be organizing a town hall in Spearfish at the BHSU Jonas Building on Friday, April 21, 6 p.m. Thune, Rounds, and Noem are invited, but if they don’t make it, I hear organizers will have mannequins and questions on hand.
That young lady not only has a really neato name, Slaathaug, but she ends her brief letter with a really good point. Just sayin.
John,
My thought was an online contest: “Where in the World is…….”. With prizes for sightings and best photos.
How can one possibly go Nuclear on someone named: “Missy”?
It’s just not fair.
Missy For Congress
Missy For Congress, indeed! She is a No nonsense Lady.
Barry, I think that’s a great idea for a contest. And only partially because the company I work for runs online photo contests. So if anyone is interested and wants to run with it…find some charity proceeds could go to and let me know.
