Blog friends, you can catch me speaking on various ballot measures this week, twice live, and once recorded.
- On Monday at 1 p.m., I will be speaking on all ten ballot measures at the Groton Community Center, 109 N. 3rd St., Groton. The meeting is for Groton senior citizens, but I don’t imagine they’ll mind if some junior citizens come in the door to learn.
- On Thursday at 8:40 a.m., Greg Belfrage will interview me live on KELO Radio about Referred Law 20, the youth minimum wage. Thursday’s broadcast will balance Senator David Novstrup’s appearance on the program last Monday to defend his effort to cut teenagers’ pay. In the Sioux Falls area, you can listen on 1320 AM and 107.9 FM; if you’re reading this, you can listen live online!
- On Sunday, October 30, at 10:30 p.m., KELO-TV’s Inside KELOLand will feature a discussion of Referred Law 20 and Referred Law 19, the Incumbent Protection Act. We record the program Thursday. I’ll speak against both measures; KELO-TV hasn’t told me yet who’s coming to speak in favor of each measure, but, as always, I look forward to a lively and civil debate.
In person, on radio, and on TV, I’m happy to have the chance to extend the work I do daily here on Dakota Free Press to help South Dakotans understand the issues on our ballot.
I love the mnemonic that was previously posted on how to vote YES. R,T,V,21,22,23. It really helps me remember how to vote.
My, SD goes a bit crazy with the number of Amendments, initiatives and referendums to vote on. To me, it seems to be a bit much.
MN has just one Amendment to vote on for election day.
It’s rather amusing that one of the smallest state in the Union, SD, would have such a panorama of items to vote on.
Jenny, when you have a ‘do-nothin legislature the people HAVE to take action!
Colorado has even more issues on the ballot then SoDak. “Power to the People. Stick it to the man.” – from the film Captain Fantastic 2016
Craig, I’ll say the same thing to you that I say to my students: whatever works! One day in French class in Spearfish my students and I brainstormed four different mnemonics for memorizing a verb conjugation pattern. “Boot verbs!” “Sheep verbs!” As long as it sticks in someone’s head, I’m not particular. Whatever works!
