SD Democrats Host YELL for High School Politicos In Pierre April 15-16

Hey, high school Democrats! If you’re excited about Bernie Sanders, you may be feeling a bit down this morning after Hillary Clinton’s strong showing in Illinois and elsewhere put the Sanders math in prayer territory. But even if he doesn’t win the Presidential nomination, Sanders can still promote his revolution downticket

Young Elected legislative Leaders logo…and you can help by attending YELL, the Young Elected Legislative Leaders event! Hosted by the South Dakota Democratic Party, YELL gives high school Democrats a chance to practice the legislative politics, from drafting bills, shepherding them through committee, and debating them on the House floor. And you get to debate on the real House floor, in the State Capitol. The event also brings students together with Democratic legislators for insight on the Legislature and elections. Interested young Democrats can make connections with candidates who will welcome some volunteers for their local campaigns.

Here’s the full YELL itinerary for this year’s event, taking place April 15 and 16 in Pierre:

Imagine the enthusiasm we would see in this type of event if Democrats advocated a policy proposal that would allow 17 year olds to vote in primaries if they will be 18 at the time of the general elction!
