Right-Wing Critique: Trump Punishing Legal Residents, Making Illegal Immigration Worse

You know the President is screwing up when even rock-ribbed right-wing blog P&R Miscellany says the President’s immigration ban, which bans legal residents from our purportedly fair country, is dumb, dumb, dumb:

…I’ve recently learned that the Trump White House has overruled that initial DHS decision and wants the suspension applied to green card holders, too.

This is incredibly, mind-bogglingly dumb.

It’s also wrong on a moral level, given the assurances both implied and in law given to permanent residents.

And it’s wrong on a practical level.  These are people who played by the rules, who went through the arduous and time-consuming process to get a green card, submitting to numerous background checks, interviews, paperwork, and considerable expense.  No screening process Trump’s team will devise will improve the one applied already to these permanent residents.  In any event, our problem is illegal immigration, not legal immigration.  Going after the legal immigrants only encourages illegal immigration.  What is more, as a political matter, it is encouraging bipartisan opposition and giving that opposition an issue around which to coagulate and organize.

Dumb.  Really, really dumb [“Hey, Trump. The Problem Is Illegal, Not Legal Immigration,” P&R Miscellany, 2017.01.30].

See? Dumb. Three times, dumb.

I’m with you, P&R. I miss the good old days, when we had a President who respected America’s promises and the rule of law and focused on deporting illegal immigrants.

    CH,

No doubt you will have more trump backers in the future that you can agree with.

The actions of the IIC (idiot in charge) may well be a benefit, providing we survive.

Documents obtained by CNN showed that DHS initially determined that “lawful permanent residents are not included and may continue to travel to the USA.”

But Bannon personally intervened to counter the guidance from DHS lawyers.

“The White House overruled that guidance overnight, according to officials familiar with the rollout,” the CNN report said. “That order came from the President’s inner circle, led by Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon. Their decision held that, on a case by case basis, DHS could allow green card holders to enter the US.”

Drumpf was court ordered to have Customs *CBP) notify airports overseas to allow people with valid visas to immediately fly to America. Drumpf’s crew created their own loophole. Customs did not call anyone and Drumpf invalidated all visas.

There were at least 700 people detained or turned away instead of 108 as Drumpf claims. Now CBP has changed their phone # so they can’t be reached. This sounds like more serious violations of laws than lying about sex.
