Trump Contradicts Self on ISIS Secrecy, Invites Russian Espionage

Donald Trump is attacking Democrats for not making convention speeches about how to beat ISIS and radical Islamic terrorism.

  1. Trump’s attack is false. President Bill Clinton laid out the surest way to beat ISIS in his speech last night: “If you’re a Muslim and you love America and freedom and you hate terror, stay here and help us win and make a future together. We want you.”
  2. Trump’s attack is inconsistent with his own philosophy. Trump trumpets his own refusal to lay out a clear anti-ISIS policy on the assertion that we shouldn’t tell the world our plans because “We must as a nation be more unpredictable.” If Democrats say nothing about ISIS, they are playing Trump’s card-hiding game even better than Trump. Trump should be saying, “Carry on!”

Related: Pope Francis, speaking after two ISIS-linked murderers attacked a French church and killed a priest, says the world is at war, “a war of interests, for money, resources, dominion of peoples…. I am not speaking of a war of religions. Religions don’t want war.”

Unhindered by calls for truth, consistency, or competence, Trump now frosts his dangerous abandonment of NATO allies with an invitation to Russia to spy on American officials:

“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Mr. Trump said, staring directly into the cameras. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

Mr. Trump’s call was an extraordinary moment at a time when Russia is being accused of meddling in the U.S. presidential election. His comments came amid questions about the hacking of the Democratic National Committee’s computer servers, which researchers have concluded was likely the work of two Russian intelligence agencies [Ashley Parker, “Donald Trump Calls on Russia to Find Hillary Clinton’s Missing Emails,” New York Times, 2016.07.27].

Pageant-manager Trump should stick with stage design and reality-show insults. Trump’s foreign policy utterances are daft and dangerous.

His campaign says he speaks with candor and authenticity.

  2. Jerry 2016-07-27 14:35

Soon Don Coyote will comment that Russia is our pal because even W. had a cool nicname for him. Puty Poot. Right wing nuts are cute in their denial of the other turd blossom they now see as their dear leader.

  3. mike from iowa 2016-07-27 14:36

Drumpf also says Obama is the most ignorant Potus ever. Drump’s famous memory must be shorter than his fingers.

Why would anybody with a live brain cell take this guy seriously? There is no there, there.

  4. Jerry 2016-07-27 14:48

Does it make anyone wonder why the republican site was not hacked? Why have the republicans been so damn quiet about the security of their site? Why do the Russ, ies want Trump? I know, let’s ask Thune.

  5. leslie 2016-07-27 15:04

david, neither of which means reliably, truthfully, safely or intelligently:)

there is no way he won’t be slaughtered. however, GOP did manage to get rid of DNC chair on the eve of Hillary’s nomination. their timing is oh so orchestrated. GOP is extremely dangerous. so trump’s statement makes sense.

  6. Roger Cornelius 2016-07-27 16:05

When I heard Trump issue that invitation to Russia to hack American sites I just sat and stared at the TV. Did he really say what I just heard?
Our country does engage at times in back channel communication when it serves their mutual needs.
Trump’s public offering of illegal cyber attacks is unheard of on the very public stage of foreign policy.
It is reckless and irresponsible and quite frankly borders on treason.
If theses Russians are so good at hacking maybe we can ask them to get Donald Trump’s tax returns.

  7. Adam 2016-07-27 17:00

And now Kim Jong-un (leader of North Korea) has endorsed Trump.

I dare anyone to side with our biggest enemies while still claiming you love the United States of America. I wish you the worst of luck with that. However, Sun Tso once said, “Never try to speed up your enemy’s self-destruction as you will likely slow it down.”

“We must as a nation be more unpredictable.”–Trump

He is taking that unpredictability thing to heart for most areas of public policy. He can’t tell us what his plans are for the following: boosting the economy, what he would replace Obamacare with, how he would pay for expanding the military, how he would pay for tax cuts and how he would fight ISIS.

Then there is the unpredictable as in taking one position and then another depending on what time of day it is:

“Donald Trump changes his mind so frequently and so dramatically that a compilation of his current policies would not tell the whole story, nor would it be up to date for very long — he once offered up three different views on abortion in eight hours. By mixing fact with many exaggerations and outright falsehoods in hundreds of interviews while simultaneously refusing to offer specifics — insisting that unpredictability is an advantage he’ll use to cut better deals — Trump and the Republican Party that’s nominated him are putting forward the most elusive presidential platform in modern history.”

    Thank God for Trump –

“Her running mate Tim Kaine, who by the way did a terrible job in New Jersey — first act he did in New Jersey was ask for a $4 billion tax increase and he was not very popular in New Jersey and he still isn’t,” Trump said.

    and Obama is ignorant?

  10. Douglas Wiken 2016-07-27 22:04

The Russians and Chinese probably don’t hack servers in insane asylums so why bother with the GOP servers.

  11. moses111 2016-07-28 09:00

Jerry ask Photo op Thune What? Maybe ask him about basketball, he is a failure in the Senate unless you want lip service.

  12. Stumcfar 2016-07-28 10:50

Really, Trump asked Russia to hack into computers??? That is a stretch. Do you think it was a little tongue in cheek? Since they had DNC emails, don’t you think he was just making a statement that maybe they could come up with the 30,000 that Hillary can’t. Then the Dems say this is a matter of national security, yet the Clinton people have said there was nothing in those emails that were a matter of national security. You can try deflect the story away from the incompetence of Hillary and the DNC and try blame Trump, but most are not buying it.

  13. Madman 2016-07-28 10:57

Trump said it and watch the video you be the judge. As much as I dislike reading some statements made by here, I would never call on a foreign nation to hack into your account even jokingly, but then again I am not running for president so the rules may be different.

  14. mike from iowa 2016-07-28 11:20

You can try deflect the story away from the incompetence of Hillary and the DNC and try blame Trump, but most are not buying it.

Stumpy just got done deflecting and he can’t prove(again) that most are not buying it.

As for being a joke, Dreasonous, Draitor Drumpf is a joke and a danger to the entire world.

  15. Roger Cornelius 2016-07-28 11:54

Democratic and Republican leaders alike, as well as national security professionals of both parties have called Trump’s invitation to the Russians to hack an American website reckless and irresponsible bordering on treason.

Stum is the only person I know that is trying to justify or explain away what Trump said and what he meant. Trump didn’t just slip-up and make that statement, he had a reason. If it was a tongue-in-cheek comment, it just serves as more reason that Trump is unfit to be president.

  16. Stumcfar 2016-07-28 12:41

If I missed it, point it out, but did he ever say anything about having the Russians “hack” into a computer?

  17. Darin Larson 2016-07-28 12:42

Stumpy, he said it and he tweeted it. The right would already be calling for hearings and sending out subpoenas if Hillary had said this. Come on!

And then in the same “news conference” Trump gives Russia a pass on annexing the Crimea. Quid pro quo. He is such a narcissist that he overlooks his own treasonous comments in order to attack his opponent.

What is next? Trump joking about nuclear war? I think he already has.

  18. Darin Larson 2016-07-28 12:46

No Stumpy, he suggested that the Russian’s find her emails. Maybe, she left them in Russia when she was Secretary of State. Maybe Trump can go get them when he signs over the rest of Eastern Europe to Putin after he is elected.

  19. Stumcfar 2016-07-28 12:57

So he didn’t ask Russia to hack into anyone’s emails?? So you have been caught in a lie! Maybe South Dakota Democrats need a lesson on sarcasm. Again since the Russians had DNC emails, Trump tells them maybe they can find the 30,000 emails that Hillary’s people can’t find. And also again, according to Democrats, this would not be a matter of national security, because remember there was nothing classified or any matters of national security in any of those emails, so I guess a big to do about nothing, but it is a convenient way to again make people forget about Hillary’s incompetence!

  20. Darin Larson 2016-07-28 13:04

Stumpy, quit playing dumb. The clear implication by anyone with a functioning brain was that he was inviting the Russian’s to steal information through hacking.

Stumpy, Trump says crazy stuff all the time, so just because it is crazy, treasonous and illegal doesn’t mean Trump didn’t mean what he said. He also waited 2 days to now claim he was joking, only after realizing what a firestorm he was starting.

Now it is also interesting to me that Paul Manafort, Trump’s mobbed up campaign manager, did work previously on behalf of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, a Putin ally.

When do the hearing start Stumpy?

  21. Rorschach 2016-07-28 13:11

“Big to do about nothing” huh? Whether Trump encouraged foreign thieves to steal something, or just to publish private information they already stole, he’s encouraging and facilitating cyber crime by Russians against Americans. That’s not nothing. What he’s doing is encouraging a peeping tom to publish the nudie photos he took through the neighbor lady’s window last night.

What Trump should be doing is saying that if you are committing cyber crime against Americans we will find you and bring you to justice. Instead, in the spirit of mischief, he’s telling cyber criminals, “it’s ok to victimize Americans with your criminal activities. Let’s all just have fun with it.”

  22. Roger Cornelius 2016-07-28 13:26

    Get off the stump, stum.
Use at least some of the logic that you do have, how else would Trump obtain the emails if it wasn’t by hacking. Stick ’em in a brown envelope.
What Trump said and meant was clear to all the world except you.
Effective sarcasm is an art and easily recognizable by intelligent people, when sarcasm has to be explained, it is not sarcasm or a joke.

  23. Adam 2016-07-28 13:31

Strump is one of those anti-liberals at all costs sort of peeps – even at the cost of his/her own integrity.

  24. Greg 2016-07-28 13:32

I’m not going to stick up for Trump’s plea or sarcasm or whatever it was but if the Russian’s have the ability to hack those emails, they already have them plus a hell of a lot more that we wouldn’t want them to have. At the end the day we should all agree that statement that Trump made was not very smart.

  25. John Wrede 2016-07-28 13:44

This is all marvelous entertainment!! Putin is playing Trump like a cheap banjo and Trump jerks with every tweek of the marionette strings. Meanwhile Trump would have us all thinking that he is Putin’s equal with a symbiotic relationship beneficial to the American people. To think that Trump or anyone in his campaign can match wits and cunning with Putin is egotistically over confident.

  26. mike from iowa 2016-07-28 13:46

Stumpy, did you catch Tim Kaine last night wearing a Honduran flag pin instead of the American flag?

  27. Adam 2016-07-28 13:52

The leaders of Russia and North Korea publically support Trump over Hillary because they know the Donald Trump Party is the fastest way to make America weak again. Get it through your pea brained thick conserva-skulls, you are BAD for America.

Trump and Republicans may as well have been endorsed by Osama Bin Laden.

  28. Stumcfar 2016-07-28 13:53

Did he encourage them to hack, no. He made a comment since Hillary’s people have shown incompetence in finding 30,000 emails that maybe the Russian had them. My goodness you people try to make mountains out of a sarcastic comment, but could care less that the Russians could have hacked into Hillary’s email account and actually may have received classified info and you seem to care less that the DNC rigged the nomination. Deflection is the name of the game I guess when you have an incompetent, liar as a candidate. Again he never asked anyone to hack or steal but continue to spread lies, then you can be even more like you nominee!

  29. Daniel Buresh 2016-07-28 14:23

“What he’s doing is encouraging a peeping tom to publish the nudie photos he took through the neighbor lady’s window last night.”

^This. You can’t hack what has already been stolen and what Wikileaks(probably has) will be releasing in the near future. I want to know what our incompetent and negligent former SOS shared with our enemies in her mission to evade FOIA compliance. Trump shouldn’t have asked them for it, as if Wikileaks would care what he said, and just waited for them like the rest of us. The next few email dumps will be interesting if they are saving the best for last. My guess is it won’t be national security issues, but money laundering in the Clinton Foundation. Anyone else have a guess on what it will prove? The last email dump got the president to call the leader of the DNC because she wouldn’t step down for being so blatantly corrupt, then Hilary had to swoop in and reward her corrupt friend by adding her to her campaign, further cementing that corruption for Hillary will be protected and rewarded. Maybe we can get Hillary to have a press conference and ask her why she continues to give the middle finger to 42% of the Democrats who support Bernie.

  30. mike from iowa 2016-07-28 14:49

Much ado about nothing, boys. None of the crimes she was accused of occurred. All a figment of your diseased brains-you got Hillary derangement syndrome.

  31. Jerry 2016-07-28 15:07

Daniel, I have been critical of Hillary on this blog site. I will ask you this, what position, other than an honorary chair, did Debbie Whatshername Schultz get? You do realize that anyone who draws breathe is an honorary chair, correct?

  32. mikeyc, that's me! 2016-07-28 15:20

Here’s something to keep you awake tonight. Trump starts receiving national security briefings tomorrow. OMG!

  33. Greg 2016-07-28 15:21

So mike from iowa, 62% of all Americans don’t trust Hillary Clinton and you still insist that Hillary is squeaky clean. Open your eyes Mike and take a good look. She lied in those FBI hearings but that was ok because she wasn’t under oath. She will be elected president but will always be under a dark cloud.

  34. Darin Larson 2016-07-28 16:12

Stumpy if you want to say Trump was joking, you can argue that. But he clearly called for Russia to hack or steal the emails. Either way, to encourage espionage by a foreign cold war adversary against a fellow American and the American government is treasonous.

Who likes to joke about treason? Donald Trump.

  35. Daniel Buresh 2016-07-28 16:16

    Jerry,
She got honorary chair, after all the Dems(the one who have any integrity, including our sitting president) condemned her actions and criticized the way she ran the party for Hillary while basically saying “screw you” to anyone in opposition or down ticket candidates. She got to walk away with her head in the air, no apology or admission of incompetence, and was backed by a candidate who was willing to allow it, because it benefited her. In the same breathe of acknowledging DWS’s resignation, Hillary’s camp acknowledged her “continuing” work for the Clinton team. Instead of uniting the Democratic party by at least condemning such behavior, Hillary gave the middle finger to all the Bernie supporters. Trump is about the only candidate who can beat Hillary, and Hillary is about the only candidate who can beat Trump. This election is literally between a giant douche and a turd sandwich. They are perfect for each other. Some claim Trump is stealing Hillary voters, while other think Hillary is just throwing them at him. I just still can’t believe Hillary didn’t distance herself from DWS. Politically, that may have been the dumbest move of this entire election. Maybe that is why the polls are looking up for Trump. We will see when the DNC convention finishes and see if Hillary has the typical post-convention boost.

  36. Roger Cornelius 2016-07-28 16:23

Every intel expert, every foreign policy advisor, and every legal expert I’ve heard over the past couple of days since Trump made his ridiculous comment have said how dangerous and reckless it was. Everyone of them!

I refuse to accept the word of any amateur political hack that has an ax to grind with Hillary that Trump did no harm. He did do harm, he made himself vulnerable to Russia if he should be elected president.

Daniel and stum can twist, turn, put a FOX “News” spin on it and parse words until they are meaningless, but all you have to do is watch the video, it is all there. I’d suggest that Daniel and stump don’t watch the FOX “News” edited version and listen to their hacks explain it all away.

  37. Adam 2016-07-28 16:27

GOP is the big joke – GWB didn’t know how to talk in front of people either, but it reminded conservative voters of themselves, and made em all want to have a beer that non-english speaking white guy posing as a leader.

  38. Daniel Buresh 2016-07-28 16:36

But he clearly called for Russia to hack or steal the emails.”

Now, let’s look at the entire quote since every media outlet is running with the snip-it for obvious reasons:

But if it is Russia, it’s really bad for a different reason. Because it shows how little respect they have for our country when they would hack into a major party and get everything. But it would be interesting to see — I will tell you this, Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 e-mails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press. Let’s see if that happens. That will be next.

If you look at the context of what he said, he was hoping they would release them if they have them. By suggesting “finding them”, he meant they should probably look through the millions of emails they have and see if any of the 33,000 are in there. He is acknowledging the hack that already occurred. You guys are trying to stretch this a lot further than it realistically is. Criticizing someone who has no impact on the release of classified info while not acknowledging the other person’s lack of security procedures that lead to it in the first. Partisan politics at it’s finest.

Here are some more Bernie Supporters expressing their opinion:

Hillary allows people to steal vital information on the US – “She is innocent guys, she didnt mean it”
Trump suggests people with that information come forward – “OMG DID HE JUST DO THAT HE SHOULD BE TRIALED FOR TREASON!!”

Now, who is “treasonous”? Hillary, who placed sensitive communication on an unsecure private email server in order to avoid public scrutiny into her activity as a public servant, or Donald, who’s exposing her for the corrupted hack she is?

  39. mike from iowa 2016-07-28 17:20

By suggesting “finding them”, he meant they should probably look through the millions of emails they have and see if any of the 33,000 are in there.

So sez you. Highly subjective and speculative since not even Drumpf has a clue what will come out of his pie hole at any given time.

What happened to Melania’s web site. Since people started questioning whether she actually had a degree in architecture, her website vanished.

  40. Darin Larson 2016-07-28 17:37

Nice spin Daniel Buresh. I have not heard that explanation from Trump’s camp yet. Maybe that will be the next version of events out of Trump’s mouth.

But they are two different events. The hacked DNC emails are not the emails that were deleted from Clinton’s server. You are trying to connect two different events to explain away Trump’s conduct as harmless. The hackers that hacked the DNC don’t have Clinton’s emails from her private server. They can’t look in the DNC emails and find Clinton’s emails.

Interesting to me that most people in the world commenting on this deal understood Trump’s words the way that I did.

  41. Daniel Buresh 2016-07-28 18:07

“Nice spin Daniel Buresh. I have not heard that explanation from Trump’s camp yet. Maybe that will be the next version of events out of Trump’s mouth.”

Nice spin? I’m not the one using a snip-it that doesn’t include the previous sentences acknowledging they have no respect for us and condemning them. In the context, it’s pretty apparent he just wants to see the emails out of it to see if they will help his run for president. Not very classy, but there is obviously a reason why they left the first part off in all the media.

“But they are two different events. The hacked DNC emails are not the emails that were deleted from Clinton’s server. You are trying to connect two different events to explain away Trump’s conduct as harmless. The hackers that hacked the DNC don’t have Clinton’s emails from her private server. They can’t look in the DNC emails and find Clinton’s emails.”

Two different events purportedly done by the same group. The group who hacked the DNC also claimed that they hacked Hillary’s private server as well. There is no real proof in really any of it other than circumstantial which is why it is so hard to prove it was a specific person. It’s all similarities in code and signature which can happen in the hacking world with who they keep company with. Going off of that, it could be the same person. I don’t doubt it was Russian supported and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was hackers from multiple countries. Heck, it could have been US hackers now seeking asylum in Russia. All of these countries have been hacking each other for years, including the US.

“Interesting to me that most people in the world commenting on this deal understood Trump’s words the way that I did.”

You start to think everyone is the same as you when you put yourself in an echo chamber. What’s your opinion on the Clinton Foundation’s ties with Russia? Ever watched the Clinton Cash documentary? I had a Bernie Supporter recommend it to me a week ago.

  42. Roger Cornelius 2016-07-28 18:15

    Darin,
Nice job squaring this argument about two different events.
But, the Daniel’s and stump don’t really care about what is fact and what is fiction, do they?
I do wonder if the Russian hackers will be able to find Trump’s tax returns he refuses to show because he is above us all, including Daniel.

  43. mike from iowa 2016-07-28 18:19

Not only did Drumpf want Russia to hack HRC’s emails, he also asked hackers to hack Obama’s college transcripts to see if he was born in America or some such non-sense.

  44. Daniel Buresh 2016-07-28 18:29

Yeah Roger, my knowledge on hacking and the history of this sort of topic is pretty limited. Man, this place is a circle jerk of partisan ignorance.

  45. Roger Cornelius 2016-07-28 18:39

When Daniel Buresh if forced to go low, I’ll go high.

  46. mike from iowa 2016-07-28 18:46

Man, this place is a circle jerk of right wing partisan ignorance. Fixed it for you, DB.

  47. mike from iowa 2016-07-28 18:48

If Drumpf didn’t mean what he said, why did he have to later say he was joking? Sounds like an admission of guilt.

  48. jerry 2016-07-28 19:40

It is good to know that you are clear that an honorary chair for an election is kind of like a big bag of nothing. They have no responsibilities other than to sit on their fannies and watch the world go by.

I do not know who is on the list for honorary chair for Trump, but my money is on Vladimir Putin so he can keep the Crimea annexed from the Ukraine with no worries if Trump gets the office. I wonder when I will see the bumper snicker for John Thune that says “Freedom First” That Daniel is a contradiction to the way he glowingly speaks of Trump.

  49. jerry 2016-07-28 19:42

What is the difference between Roger Ailes and Donald Trump? None. They both are getting fired.

  50. Darin Larson 2016-07-28 19:53

DB, I listen to Fox news where Bernie Sanders is considered a traitor and Hillary Clinton is a criminal who should be locked up and Donald Trump is a sane man who doesn’t have to disclose his tax returns or explain his economic plan or have an economic plan or not say treasonous or outlandish things.

I come here to hear the other side of the argument because this is a self proclaimed liberal blog. But gosh darnit, here you are again telling me about how misunderstood Trump is when talking about Putin and the Russians. Yet then I see Trump interview clips on Fox where Trump is forgetting what his last position on how close of a relationship he had with Putin or if he even knew who Putin was.

And to hear you protest about the one-sided debate here at DFP is loads of fun. I think you mis-typed foxnews.com again and ended up at DFP or were you trying to reach DWC? To be clear, I’m pleased to debate the issues, but it is hard to let stand an assertion that this is just an echo chamber when some of the loudest voices are right wingnuts on here.

  51. caheidelberger Post author | 2016-07-29 08:28

I find Stu’s excuses for Trump to be transparent partisan excusifying. A Presidential nominee’s words should not need so much excuse and reinterpretation. Real or joke, Trump’s comment was inappropriate, unpatriotic, and unpresidential.

  52. Stumcfar 2016-07-29 09:03

Transparent partisan excusifying is finding a sarcastic comment to be inappropriate, unpatriotic, and unpresidential, yet voting for the candidate that allowed emails to be hacked because she was so irresponsible or just plain not very bright is okay??? Also being upset because Russia is supposedly trying to interfere in an election that the DNC already interfered in and then putting the blame on Trump is frankly pathetic. I remember a now Presidential candidate who claimed a Youtube video lead to the attack and death of Americans in Benghazi and then when the truth came out, the back pedaling started and I could say, “A Presidential nominee’s words should not need so much excuse and reinterpretation.”

  53. caheidelberger Post author | 2016-07-29 09:55

“Sarcasm”—the excuse to which the nominee resorts a day after his incautious and thus inappropriate comment made him look unpresidential. And even there, do we really want a President who goes around making sarcastic comments every day that he delivers so badly he has to label as sarcasm?

Again, false equivalence. Trump’s inappropriate comments are right there, blatant, unpatriotic, unpresidential. You have to dig deep into the Fox files and denialism to make any faintly similar case against Clinton. You’re going to have a much more burdensome election season defending your candidate than I will, Stu.

And let’s back up: my original point about Trump’s inconsistency on foreign policy still stands. He can’t make up his mind: are we supposed to broadcast our anti-ISIS strategy to the letter, or are we supposed to keep it secret? Trump’s foreign policy pronouncements aren’t foreign policy; they are Stu-like conditional zingers, hurled in the heat of the moment in flailing attempts to score sound-bite points but not adding up to any coherent or practical policy.

  54. mike from iowa 2016-07-29 10:34

If Drumpf has ever lied may lightning strike him.

    http://img.wonkette.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/electrotrump.gif

Drumpf says you can’t say he mocked people with handicaps because he spent millions to make his properties handicap accessible. Sounds like Drumpf has a Stumpy problem relating with reality.

  55. Roger Cornelius 2016-07-29 11:03

Stu has continued to ignore what virtually every intl expert, foreign policy advisors, and generals have said about Trump’s reckless and irresponsible comments about the communist nation.
Stu, like Trump, have their own foreign policy recommendations and it is hell be damned because I said it and not what the facts reflect.

  56. Stumcfar 2016-07-29 13:02

You guys have your heads so far buried in the sand that it is beyond laughable! caheidelberger running for a public office and whining about a sarcastic comment and seemingly defending a candidate that the FBI said was reckless, is a disgrace. Somehow thinking a sarcastic comment is more detrimental to our nation than serving up classified emails to the world is down right childish. You always ignore comparisons. Saying Trump’s sarcastic comment is something worse than Hillary trying to deceive the world about a YouTube video to hide her incompetence that lead to the death of Americans shows your inability to think clearly. And no, you don’t have to dig very deep to find Hillary’s YouTube comments or to show the many lies she was caught in over her email scandal, but nice try. Try get this in your head. The emails in question, are only in question because Hillary broke the rules. She put national security at risk. Mike, the library is closing early have someone push you back to your third floor room and enjoy the weekend.

See how you HRC deranged freaking wingnuts go to any lengths trying to prove HRC is a crook. Shame on you, wingnut!

Stumpy says “Somehow thinking a sarcastic comment is more detrimental to our nation than serving up classified emails to the world is down right childish.”

You mean Trump suggesting to our chief foreign adversary ruled by a KGB agent that it should use espionage against the US, and suggesting that Putin is a good guy and better leader than Obama, and suggesting that the Russians can keep Crimea after their aggression, and questioning whether the US should come to the aid of fellow NATO countries if they are attacked by Russia and questioning whether NATO serves any purpose any longer are small things? You think all of these incredibly stupid statements are small in comparison to a few classified emails that were inadvertently sent from a private email server and to which no one was able to find evidence that the emails were obtained by foreign powers?

I can tell you that sane people around the world including our closest allies are not being childish or putting their head in the sand when they wonder what the US is thinking having Trump as the Republican nominee.

Now mind you, this is just one issue in which Trump aspires to being the village idiot. There are many more examples.

Hillary is a policy wonk while Trump is a policy menace.

Folks, if you want to know what a Trump could do for “to you” think back to the Bush Merkel years. Now thats some fun stuff there.

    The Blindman

If anybody ‘has their head in the sand’ it is Stum, he continually refuses to acknowledge what our foreign policy advisors, intel experts, and generals have said about Trumps “sarcastic” comments.
They have all agreed very succinctly about the threat Trump is encouraging the Russian to do.
If Trump can make this kind of mistake as president and than have to walk it back as sarcastic, ask yourselves what other comments in a crisis he would have to walk back.

  61. Stumcfar 2016-07-29 15:36

Roger you have drank so much koolaid it is running out of your typing fingers. The FBI director said of Hillary and her handling of emails, He also described her handling of classified material as secretary of state as “negligent” , The F.B.I. director repeatedly suggested that someone in the federal government who had done what Mrs. Clinton and her aides did would probably be subject to administrative sanctions., Asked whether those sanctions could include firing or the loss of security clearance, Mr. Comey said that they could. While an F.B.I. employee who mishandled classified evidence in the way that Mrs. Clinton did would not be prosecuted either, he said sternly, “they would face consequences for this.”,

Clinton said, “I never received nor sent any material that was marked classified.”

Clinton has made this claim over and over again. An independent FBI investigation has found that to be inaccurate.

Thanks Mike for the baloney from Media Matters, a blog site almost as left wing as this.

The truth of the matter is the DNC was caught rigging the primary for Hillary and Hillary was careless, negligent and put far more National security at risk than a sarcastic comment from Trump, with her irresponsible use of emails!

  62. mike from iowa 2016-07-29 15:56

Mediamatters debunked everything you had to say, Stump. You said HRC was basically handing out classified info to the world. CIA and Intelligence says no. Comey is a partisan wingnut running the FBI and I am sure he would have loved to nail HRC for any crime, but he couldn’t. Too bad,so sad.

BTW,Comey job did not entail him passing judgment on HRC. He should have kept his mouth shut instead of trying to indict her w/o legally being able to do so, Reckless and unprofessional-just like the partisan wingnuts who have tried for thirty years to nail one or both Clintons for crimes they have not committed. What a bunch of pathetic losers.

  63. Darin Larson 2016-07-29 16:06

stumpy, you didn’t address any of the points that I asked you about concerning Trump’s foreign policy, you just blather on about emails. You are like a skipping old-time record, repeating the same annoying scratchy sound.

Speaking of annoying scratchy sounds, Trump is holding a town hall right now in Colorado. It is basically off the cuff nonsense. No policy generalities, no policy specifics, just inane blather from a narcissistic blowhard that thinks he can BS his way to the Whitehouse.

  64. Roger Cornelius 2016-07-29 16:45

    Stum,
How do you know when tea party guys have put themselves in desperation?
They start using stale terms and phrases like kool-ade.
You still haven’t addressed Darin’s legitimate questions about Trump, nor have you answered my questions, repeated here twice, about what our government officials have to say about Trump’s cozy relationship with Putin.
Darin is right, you are stuck record helplessly repeating one lie after another to make sure you believe it.
Today, it is of great concern that Donald Trump start receiving daily security as is the custom after the conventions are over. Why do they have that concern, stum?
It is almost unheard of that the government ban a major party candidate to be placed in this position.

Stu, I understand that the President of the United States must carry out sensible diplomacy, not sarcasm. I understand that the President of the United States will be under intense scrutiny in her use of electronic communications—whatever foibles you keep bleating about with Hillary Clinton’s prior e-mail practices will not happen in the White House. (Barack Obama couldn’t even keep his Blackberry.)

And Stu’s distractions (how does my run for office bear on this issue? Stu seems to just be trolling for District 3 trouble) do not refute my other main points: Bill Clinton’s inclusionary statement does far more to concretely weaken ISIS than any of Trump’s bluster, and Trump’s whining about the content of DNC speeches contradicts his own cover position that not revealing one’s ISIS policy is smart practice.

[By the way: the proper past participle is drunk, as in “Roger, you have drunk Kool-aid.” Among my legislative priorities are raising teacher pay, fighting corruption, and defending past participles. ;-) ]

Kicking a rabid dog is never a good idea. As a friend says; even kicking a metaphorical rabid dog is not a good idea……..

elsewhere here in my attack on trump and his seamy support for putin, his aide’s attachments to Russian and Crimean and Ukrainian elements, I have been in error talking about a recent shoot down of a civilian 737. old news.
